The house and location is amazing lots of beautiful places to eat and see out and about

... however one down side I feel a property with this price point, I would expect to have bathroom basics shower gel shampoo conditioner shower cap cotton wipes etc... towels provided for the pool. Other than that the hall is an amazing place to have a break

OUGHTERSHAW

Ben Hart was a tremendous asset from start to finish

He was polite, patient, helpful and nothing was a problem to him. He very quickly responded to our every need and on a couple of occasions we would have struggled without him. He reassured us about the pool maintenance by his regular checks. His knowledge of the local area was tremendously helpful in directing us to places of interest. Needless to say at this time of the year (February) the pool /sauna was a tremendous blessing and comfortably accommodated our party of 14 - it provided endless hours of fun. Even though everything provided was of a very high standard there was a wonderful homely feel to the place, particularly when the wood burners were lit each evening. All in all a great venue to celebrate my birthday!

We had a really warm welcome from Ben who had lit the fires and turned on the lamps which gave the place a real glow and made the journey well worthwhile The welcome pack was well stocked with delicious goodies I’d taken black sacks, kitchen roll, condiments, soap etc but there was no need as it was all provided. Perhaps you could tell guests this in your blurb One thing we needed that wasn’t there were serving spoons ! Not a niggle but you asked our thoughts The pool was an absolute gem and a wonderful size. All ages loved it, it was magical We have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world but Oughtershaw surpassed them all... it’s style, warmth, setting and beauty enthralled us all ( ages 7 to 76 ) . And you have a real gem in Ben so look after him A HUGE thank you from the Crosses

Through from the reception by Ben, to the reception pack, to the cleanliness, to the accommodation, the cleanliness and temperature of the pool, the ease of use of the facilities, the excellently thought out details such as number of electrical points, hair dryers in every bedroom, wood burners that work easily, rightsize bbq,big soft fluffy towels. I could just go on. This has been the best appointed premises that we have staid in over the years. Although the weather was very wet on the Sunday, there was enough space and facilities in the Hall to keep the everybody happy. These included the mentioned swimming pool, sauna, televisions, wifi and ability to plug games consuls (not provided I don't think although a number did appear from somewhere - don't understand these things - maybe just a little too old) into the tvs and general space for fourteen people not to feel they were on top of each other. It did mean however that we did not get the chance to see the beautiful North Yorkshire Dales except in passing on a sunny Monday on the way home. That will have to wait until next time.

I booked this last year for our Golden Wedding celebrations with all the family and it turned out to be a winner!! So much so that the family would dearly love to stay there again (even offering to share the cost!). The children loved the swimming pool - waiting patiently at the edge for an adult to appear - swimming twice a day. The cyclists loved the surrounding roads and scenery and would like to explore further. The house was beautifully furnished with everything you would need and although it was a bit of a trek from our various parts of the country it was very well worth the journey. We had lovely weather which obviously was a bonus, although the rain when it came did not stop our enjoyment. I would thoroughly recommend this house for a big family celebration.
Mrs Spong
Stunning property decorated to a high spec. The property offered everything you could possibly need for a very pleasant and comfortable stay. Fantastic location very picturesque and peaceful. The property manager Ben went above and beyond to help with any queries we had. Would highly recommend a stay at this beautiful house. Plenty of rooms to have your own space but also great to accommodate a large party of guests. Indoor pool is fantastic and sauna was a added bonus.
Mrs Anderson
Superb from beginning to the end of the stay. From the booking team and support staff, Ben, who manages the property and the cleaning staff who were arriving when we left, they were all exceptional.
Mr Metcalf
It was better than expected and we had the best weather All our family had a great time as we celebrated our golden wedding. There is one thing to bring to your attention having no mobile signal we were fine with until the last night when a terrific thunderstorm and lightning which took the power and set the fire alarm off . We managed to sort the power but the fire alarm wouldn't stop so we had a high pitched sound from 2-30am .We could not contact Ben as the house line had also suffered in the storm no connection. So we had to make the best of a bad job. When Ben arrived Friday as we were leaving I explained what had happened. its not anyones fault but we had no way of contacting anyone other than walking in the pouring rain to any nearby property which could have been in the same position.I'm very grateful it was nothing worse than a storm causing the problem .Ben was left to sort out the problem he still had the same problem no working phone line.
Mrs Arthur
Fantastic for a family getaway of all ages just beware of the insects in July
Mr Bowater
Fantastic property, beautiful house and fabulous pool. We were really well looked after while we were there
Mrs McConnell
We booked Oughtershaw Hall over half term for a mixed family group with ages ranging from a creeping baby, primary school age right up to over 70. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the house and its situation. Having a second sitting room worked really well as a study area for nearing exams and a small snug allowed quiet space to read/ watch a film away from the hub-bub. The kitchen is well equipped and is the real heart of the home. The bedrooms are beautiful with lovely views; many having seating to enjoy some time out. The pool is exceptional and the grounds delightful. Ben was there to welcome us show us around on our arrival. He also invited us to bring the children to hand feed some young lambs as it was lambing time. There are excellent walks, right from the house, of varying distance in the heart of the Dales.I would certainly recommend this property; superb!
Dr Jacklin
Superb house, all facilities excellent and support from Ben including the visit to the farm with my family was second to none. When one of the dishwashers needed a bit of work this was dealt with promptly. The riverside walk had been cleared by him - his attention to detail was exemplary and ensured we made the most of our stay. I can not recommend a stay at Oughtershaw Hall more highly
Dr Jones
Once again, all the “boxes ticked”, a wonderful place to stay. Snug, welcoming and comfortable, a perfect place to stay warm and protected from the wonderful Yorkshire weather.
Mr Judge
We had a fantastic time at Oughtershaw Hall, it exceeded our expectations in every way. We had a party of 13 ranging from 3 years to 70! Ben was very welcoming and helpful.
Mr Burnside
Oughtershaw Hall is a great house to create memories to last a lifetime , the age and scale gives it the immediate impression of living in a grand old house in splendid isolation . On our arrival the scene was set by Ben he had the lights on in every room, the fires all lit and a lovely Christmas tree to give the perfect start to our family holiday and the rest was down to us. We all loved living in the Yorkshire Dales for a week, which we imagined would seem a huge amount of time to occupy ourselves with 4 small children, but the time went so quickly it didn't seem long enough and we will certainly be back to do all the things we didn't manage to fit in. We loved the warm hospitality at the local pubs especially The George which was only 5 miles down the road, and The White Lion a similar distance. we spent a lot of time just enjoying the house and gardens with the beautiful walk along the beck. The pool housed in an old farm building is an example of how the house manages to keep its integrity whilst offering modern day facilities, likewise the old scullery which is now the laundry was an absolute treasure. We liked the house because, although the huge living kitchen was a great hub, there were several other rooms to retreat to for a bit of quiet time, each with a log fire and lots of comfy sofas . The well equipped kitchen was ideal for a family joint effort catering experience, which can be a challenge, but with the nearest shop being 6 miles away it was even more fun to see how inventive we could be on the non shopping days. Ilkley is about 45 minutes away and a lovely drive, the shops reflect the needs of people living in lovely country homes and dressing to suit. However the best bit of the day was arriving back at our holiday house and sitting in front of the fire with a glass of wine. One bit of advice it to allow plenty of time for your journey to the house as the road from Hawes or Ilkely is so beautiful you won't want to rush it and it takes longer than you expect, the drive is a bit tricky but the arrival is a moment you will never forget.
Mrs Ardron-Levack
The house, and its location, was stunning. We loved it and are seriously considering staying again. One small point for management was that there was quite a lot of dust and dirt under the sofas in the kitchen - we only noticed because we had to recover small childrens toys from underneath it but it could do with a sweep every now and then. Otherwise everything exceeded our expectations and it was the perfect way to spend time with my family around my 40th!
Mrs Hughes
Well managed property. Lovely and warm in cold weather. Beautifully situated. Excellent for large family groups with a marvellous inside pool and sauna. Wonderfully equipped and large kitt. Wood burning fires. Beautiful bathrooms.
Mr Buckley
Superb house in a beautiful part of Yorkshire. The house has all the facilities you could ever need and some more. Oughtershaw Hall has lots of character and plenty of opportunities for you to find your individual space despite it being full of people
Mrs Gaunt
Fabulous, well equipped luxurious house where everything has been thoughtfully put together. Spent a glorious week here to celebrate a big birthday. When not in the garden we spent most of our time sat around the enormous table or in front of one of the open fires, it was a chore to venture out. The ‘caretaker’ Ben was beyond helpful & on hand for any queries & for anything from putting bins out & cleaning the pool. 5 star luxury and highly recommend- currently looking for a reason to return!
Mrs Geary
Everything. The house was beautiful. The pool amazing. My family had a brilliant time. Thank you to Ben. We knew if we had any problems we could ring him but everything was perfect. Thank you.
