“We have had a very relaxing stay in this gorgeous cottage.”

We were delighted with the lovely Christmas tree and other decoratios - add a suitable festive touch to the cottage. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped - we didn't want to leave. The weather hasn't been great, but we managed walks by the river/golf coure and exploring the grounds of Sedbergh school. Can recommend Smootts Duo for friendly service and very reasonably priced, tasty food. Also had a good meal at the Dalesman and drinks at the Black Bull. Thank you for an excellent ...

The property

Monkey Puzzle Cottage is a charming home that sleeps five people and is located outside of Sedbergh, a market town in Cumbria.

This reverse-level property, which has a rural setting and is located inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park, is the perfect home base for a family or group of friends seeking peace and quiet.

It features both stylish and charming elements throughout.

Step inside the stone-fronted home and ascend the stairs to reach Monkey Puzzle Cottage's social hub, where you can make meals in the well-equipped kitchen, eat at the six-seat dining table, and unwind in the cosy cottage while surrounded by beamed ceilings and a charming piano.

If you'd prefer to eat or relax outside, you may pick between the rear courtyard, which is ideal for alfresco dining, and the enclosed front garden, which is studded with flowers, planters, and a beautiful Monkey Puzzle Tree.

Once inside, you will find the ground-floor bathroom where you can refresh before going out or to finish your nightly routine.

The three welcoming bedrooms, which include a king-size (zip/link, king size bed or 2 small singles), a king-size, and a single, are also located on the ground level and provide flexibility for your party.

When you're ready to start exploring, head into the town to get supplies and dine out, before joining the footpath beyond the cottage, leading through the fruit orchards and sheep fields towards Howgill fells, perfect to complete by foot or bicycle; stop off at Howgill ice cream farm on your travels.

Nearby you'll also locate Farfield Mill, an old wool mill with traditional and contemporary crafts and an art gallery, steep in textile history.

Dent and Kirkby Lonsdale are charming areas to pass through, rich in culture and history, where you can visit local museums, galleries and follow one of many picturesque walking trails, leading through the county.

As you approach Kendal, take a tour of the nearby museum or castle before coming across Miller Bridge; Lake Windermere and all its attractions are a bit further away.

Utilizing your location within the National Park by packing your agenda with natural hotspots such as Ingleborough Cave and White Scar Cave, both of which offer guided subterranean tours, or climb up Whernside to reach its breath-taking summit.

The Lake District National Park is also nearby, possible to reach by car.

Gather your loved ones at Monkey Puzzle Cottage.

About the location

SEDBERGH

Kendal 11.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 11.8 miles, Hawes 15.8 miles.

The attractive old market town of Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), with its old-world atmosphere, is not only set in the magnificent western dales of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is also close to the rugged eastern fells of the Lake District. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has been a thriving community for hundreds of years, with a market dating from the 13th Century. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry-stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners, and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.

Note. The property next door is being renovated, the external work is complete, scaffold has been removed the remaining work is internal, the workmen are considerate of holidaymakers and do not work in the evening or at the weekend.
