Very comfortable and well equipped. Rockpool Retreat had everything we wanted. Peaceful and well kept park and a great welcome pack. Thank you.
Mrs Coates
What a beautiful Lodge which had everything in it you could possibly want. I would certainly recommend it to my friends and family. The little hamper was a lovely surprise and everywhere was spotless. The only thing we had a bit of trouble with was trying to open the electronic gate where we knew the code but after many attempts we realised you had to then press another button but the numbers on the box have worn away so aren’t very visible. But having said that once in you feel very safe and it’s in a beautiful part of the country. We loved Sandsend which is nearby and enjoyed a morning coffee in the lovely cafe looking out to the sea.
Mrs Houston
We have stayed in many lodges up and down Britain but this has to be one of the best we've tried. The cabin was spotless and equipped with everything you could possible need, even down to a windbreak for the beach!. The setting was perfect, quiet and relaxing and the surrounding area was well manicured. If I was being picky the only thing I would mention is that the towel radiators in the bathrooms could do with replacing but this didn't deter from a perfect break - we will be back!
Mrs Duke
Rockpool Retreat has everything you could possible want. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. The generous welcome pack was a lovely surprise.
Mrs Grittiths
We have just returned from a wonderful week at the property. It had everything we needed and more and was the perfect base for exploring the local beaches. My only criticism as has been mentioned by others is the beds are really not that comfortable and are far too soft. If these were replaced I would definitely book again!
Mrs Kenyon
A very comfortable, warm and immaculately clean accomodation with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We found all beds to be very comfortable and we all slept well. The welcome pack was a lovely touch after a long drive. A short, but fairly steep walk to the beautiful bay and so much to explore locally. Recommended!
Mrs Murphy
The second double bed is not acceptable. The springs have gone and make a noise every time you move. It spoilt an otherwise excellent facility.
Miss Parkin
Fantastic stay in the lodge, we found it perfect from the moment we walked in to the moment we left Couldn’t have asked for anything more, all the small touches made such a difference, lovely and warm too 10/10 would recommend, thankyou very much for a perfect stay We will 100% return!
Mr Stocks
Out standing lodge will definitely return just love Runswick Bay and the pines is the ideal place to stay Thank you
Mr Gowthorpe
Fantastic property and location. Lovely and warm and very generous hospitality pack on arrival. Would love to return. Only minor critique would be the mattresses in all the bedrooms were very soft.
Mr Atkinson
Lovely and clean . Property was warm and welcoming. Nice food welcome pack too - which was appreciated. Bed linen and towels beautiful and white. The two single beds seem quite short - note to tall people. Both bathrooms great - with plenty of room- one with shower and one with bath. Fabulous area for the beach and walks along the coast. The bus service to Whitby and surrounding areas was also useful. The site is small and well kept. Would recommend as would have no hesitation to use again
Mrs Turnbull
This is my second stay at The Pines. It suits my needs to unwind, enjoy the fabulous Runswick Bay and the perfect place to get on to the Cleveland Way. Unfortunately I had to return early as my father in law was very ill but I am already looking forward to my next visit.
Mrs Nutt
The quietness of the park was extremely good. There was everything you needed in the lodge to make our stay a pleasant one. Thank you from all of us.
Mrs Goodwin
The lodge was absolutely amazing, it had everything we needed and the welcome pack was beyond any expectations. The site was lovely and clearly well looked after. It was great for walks but also a short drive away from many attractions. We look forward to another visit soon.
Mr O Neill
Thankyou so much for such wonderful accommodation we enjoyed our stay immensely and will be sure to book with Sykes cottages again .
Mrs Roach
The lodge is on a beautifully kept, peaceful park. The beach is in walking distance. There are lots of beaches to explore within a short car drive or longer walk. A few minutes down the road you are straight onto the Cleveland way and can walk the path either way - taking in the wonderful coastline views. The lodge itself is very well equipped and we found everything we needed. We shared the lodge with our son, his wife and 2 young children(plus dog) and found it plenty big enough for the six of us. Having 2 bathrooms is definitely a bonus. We would love to visit again .
Mrs Shaw
Excellent property for a chilled out holiday. Only slight issue is the living room tv is connected only by the internet on smart tv. This could be an issue with older generations. Not sure why this is as there is a satellite dish and it appears the sky box had been removed?
Mr Howlett
The lodge was absolutely gorgeous! The facilities within were also 5 star. Everything we needed/wanted was there. For example we had a day on the beach and checked the cupboard prior to leaving to find a wind break - very handy! The kitchen utensils were super - lots of clean and matching cutlery and mugs etc as well as what looked like brand new pots and pans. The location was also excellent and just as described on the website. Overall we had a super time and didn’t want to leave!
Miss Barlow
Having read a previous comment from someone in July, i thought the faciluties would not come up to scratch & the comment made me wish I hadn't booked. However everything was excellent, there were plenty of pans, bowls, cutlery, 2 oven racks and a lovely welcome pack. I was really impressed with the TV in the bathroom, very novel idea, it was lovely to have a soak & watch TV when we arrived, as we were very cold & wet, having ridden up on our motorbikes. The walk down to the local beach is a difficult one, I have arthritis in my hip & I managed it, using the 3 seats to take rest breaks on the way back up, it is worth going for the views. Thank you for our lovely, family weekend,we had not seen our girls for over 2 years.
Mrs Cairney
The kitchen had a full sized fridge and freezer. The beds were very comfortable and had good quality bedding. Towels were good quality too. The welcome pack was such a lovely idea.
Miss Gill
The property description on Sykes web site states "a luxury holiday lodge". I would add into that description the word compact. The description also states "a stones throw from the delightful beach". It is not! The complex is at least 500 yards from the road leading down to the beach. to access the sands a drop of approximtely 200ft must be negotiated and climbed back up on returning to the lodge. We are both reasonably fit and it took us 10 minutes to go down to the beach and at least 20 minutes return. The third person in our party who has difficulty in walking could not even get to the beach. The next item is a little picky but you do not get to see the sun fading through south facing doors. We could not enjoy cooking as the kitchen area is one of the poorest equiped rental places we have ever been in. There were only two saucepans, inadequate number and sized mixing bowls, the oven had only one shelf and there was no handle to the grill (only useable if you wrap your hands in tea towels). There were only three adults in our party however we filled the lodge, this is not a property for six adults. We were also suprised that the complex did not have any re-cycle facilities and all thirteen lodges had to place all rubbish into an inadequate sized bin that by the end of the week was overflowing. We have had many holiday lets with Sykes and we honestly belive this has been the worst accommodation to date. We could not reccommend this property.
Mr Bilton
I beautiful holiday home, very comfortable, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Close to amenities and the beautiful beach and stunning coastal walks. Away from the crowds to give a satisfying and relaxing break.
Mr Potter
A very nice lodge in a lovely quiet location excellent for some brilliant walks. One let down was the oven it barely gets hot enough to cook anything everything else was superb.
Mr Whitelaw
The property was furnished to the best quality for a holiday home, there was nothing that hadn’t been thought of. The location was perfect for access to the pub, the beach and nearby Whitby. I would definitely return to Rockpool retreat!
Mrs Thomson
We had a wonderful stay at Rockpool retreat. We have enjoyed every minute. The Lodge was immaculate when we arrived and the bag of goodies left for us was a lovely little touch. Cant fault this place and we are already looking forward to our next stay here. The property owner has also been so helpful. Thank you so much. X
