The accommodation was very spacious: we loved the high vaulted ceiling in the lounge, the upstairs gallery and the huge en-suite bedroom. The gas 'log-burning' stove was an additional feature that made the house feel cosy, despite the size of the room, and warm. We appreciated the privacy afforded by the location of the lodge. The only problem was that we didn't know how to turn on the radiator in the bathroom!

This was an absolutely fantastic lodge and the location was peaceful as well as well situated for trips out to so many lovely beaches. The best place we have ever stayed in many years of using self catering. Overall the cleaning was excellent but there were some small cleaning oversights such as cobwebs in the upstairs en-suite and bedroom, dirty cutlery draw, fishy smell in the kitchen on arrival and some of the cutlery needed to be washed before use. Please don’t publish the last sentence as I am sure it was just an oversight. The holiday was amazing and we will be back for sure.

We had a wonderful time at Shunner Howe. The accommodation was absolutely fantastic, lovely surroundings, on damp days we caught up with the birds living in the woodlands around us before heading out into the surrounding moorland, seaside and towns. We are certain to be back at some point and have happily recommended the lodges and your website to friends and colleagues

Having booked the newly available Shunner Howe lodge on the basis of reviews and photos of the other lodges at Ladycross we were not disappointed. This lodge is gorgeous. A spacious lounge with rustic dining table and leather sofas has the most wonderful floor to ceiling window of any place I've stayed. A gas burning 'wood burner' means you have the joy of living flame warmth (even in June) without the smell and hassle of logs. The living area is overlooked by a comfortable gallery, with enough books and videos to keep even the most ardent reader and TV fan entertained. The master bedroom is equally spacious, with en suite to match. Downstairs, a well equipped kitchen lies just off the living area with bedrooms and a family bathroom off the downstairs corridor. There is also a utility room with washer and cloakroom which also acts as a place to dry off your wet coats if you get unlucky with the weather. The site itself is lovely. A woodland trail of about a mile is accessible within a few feet of the front door. There is a dogs on leads rule across the whole site, including the woods, but that was fine for us and our 10 year old spaniel. Plenty of caravans on site, but it was peaceful. Fabulous location with easy access to the Yorkshire coast and the moors. Great pubs too, including the Wheatsheaf in Egton and our favourite, the Post Gate in Egton Bridge. Despite a foggy wet week we had a wonderful stay. Shunner Howe is a faultless perfect place to stay. We generally look for Visit England 5 star or gold awards. Whilst I don't think this is rated, it easily ranks as a 5 Star Gold in my book. The owners really care about their site and I feel so lucky to have enjoyed it. Thank you so much!
