Mrs Hanley
Cottage was great and in great location. Only disadvantage was the stairs which was tricky with a toddler.
Mr Hosford
On arrival we found the fridge wouldn’t close. On further inspection this was due to the shelf in the door. It looked like someone had tried to repair it, but it was preventing the door from closing. We lifted it off and then could close the door and have use of the fridge. I called to report this, and was sent an email to confirm the conversation. On Saturday morning we went to use the shower, to find that the attachment holding the shower head up was also broken. When the water was switched on, it wouldn’t hold the weight, and the shower head kept falling. The only way we could have a shower was by leaning the shower head against one of the side walls, which was at an angle not very comfortable to shower in. However, as it was the only shower at the property we needed to use it. We also noticed that any time we ran the tap in the kitchen sink, a strong drain smell would then fill the kitchen. Both these issues we then reported via email on Monday morning. The parking permit map provided in the info pack was also incorrect. We parked near the cottage, in the zone marked green on the map (For the permit ‘w’ zone), but received a ticket for parking in this area. A local shop keeper came out to tell us they once had a holiday cottage they let out with yourselves, and repeatedly had guests having the same issue due to the map provided. It seems strange you would continue to use the map when you know it’s incorrect, or doesn’t clearly explain what you’re trying to convey. The cottage was in a great location, it was styled nicely and had lovely period features. We were disappointed with the issues we came across, however, we appreciate they weren’t something we couldn’t live with if needed to be able to stay in the property. What made things more disappointing though, is that we have received no further communications from yourselves about the issues we raised. I work in property management/lettings myself, and appreciate the strain on contractors and supplies due to COVID. However, it would have taken 5 minutes for someone to give us a call to acknowledge the issues and apologise. Even just to say that it was very unlikely you could do anything during the duration of our stay, but at least offer potential alternatives in case any of the issues were causing problems eg did we need a small portable fridge to give us adequate fridge space, could we use a tap attachment in the bath to help with showering, did we want some drain cleaner to try and reduce the smell when in the kitchen? All very inexpensive options, and we may have said that they weren’t necessary, but we would have been grateful of the concern and effort. Having still heard nothing we would definitely be hesitant to use the company again in the future.
Mrs Cooper
All highly satisfactory.
Gallimore Party
Lovely cottage, very relaxing stay.
Brady Party
Lovely cottage. Best restaurant - The Edge. Great walk - coastal path. "We rarely go back" became "there are too many places unvisited". Whitby does go on the "may well do" list! We will certainly be back to this part of the world. WElcome pack was the best ever in over 20 years of this type of holiday.
