Mrs Thomas
This property is spacious and well maintained. It has a lovely big garden that was especially enjoyed by grandchildren and dog. I would highly recommend it. The only advice I would give the owner is to have a name plate put on the house, as we had to rely on the picture to know we had found it.
Mrs Salter
Lovely house, with plenty of room and super facilities. Only two complaints: the lighting in the downstairs rooms was very poor, making games and reading in the evenings impossible. Also, there was no recycling bin so we had to take all our recycling down to the tip ourselves, after I had used £8 on my mobile phone taliking to the helpline to ascertain what to do.
Mrs Frisby
We rented this cottage for a family weekend following a bereavement, somewhere to relax and be together as a family. It truly was a wonderful cottage! Lots of room for us all and suitable for all ages in our party (8 months old to 78yrs). There was ample kitchen equipment to cook for us all, the bedrooms were incredibly comfortable and the bath.. wow! Yes the cottage can be dark due to the beams but that’s the character and charm of the cottage, there’s sufficient lighting and lamps so it posed no problem for us. We were unable to make use of the garden with it being winter but that only gives us an excuse to return. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise. Thank you.
Mrs Bonds
We enjoyed the holiday other than the weather could have been better, beds comfy and facilities good although better lighting in the dining and living areas would have been good as we struggled to read and play board games in the evening. Could have done with more saucepans and oven trays as i struggled to make an evening meal for 7 people with those provided and the large oven tin provided doesn't fit in the oven.
Mrs Farish
Just need a name on the cottage as took a while to find it and signs nearer the property too - could do with some outdoor seating apart from that was really good and as advertised. Plenty of space and we enjoyed our week thank you.
Fairly spacious property but cleanliness was lacking in some areas and we reported several maintenance issues to Yorkshire CC on leaving. Dark woodwork and inadequate lighting combine to give a dismal atmosphere in the kitchen, dining-room and lounge - would benefit from some white paint ! Visitors would need a potholers headset to read anything after dusk... We arrived to find bins full, with recycling stuff in the wrong one, and 2 full black bags sitting on top - reported to YCC but they failed to make anything happen before the end of our week so we had to visit the Council tip with the rubbish ourselves to sort things out.
Mr Wright
Very comfortable and well equipped cottage. Dog friendly with a lovely back garden.
Cliffords Party
There is a fantastic amount of living space for a large family; we were impressed by the cafe at Ruswarp, next to the river. We had both coffee and dinner, both of which were fantastic. We have been very impressed with Yorkshire Coastal Cottages and the welcome pack was lovely. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.
Benson Family
Good location. Cottage a great size and well equipped. We enjoyed the steam train ride to Goathland and visiting Scarborough and Filey.
Gaynor Party
Had a great week in Whitby; Dovecote Cottage is spacious, plenty of storage and we loved the garden - it's a good base for exploring. We have been to Whitby beach, the Captain Cook Museum and Scarborough. We also visited Sandsend. We can recommend Silver Street Fisheries for the fish and chips plus the Forge at Aislaby for some amazing pub food! All the family have enjoyed our holiday.
