The double mattress needs replacing, it was very uncomfortable.
Mr Hooley
The tumble dryer needs looking at. It would go for so long then beep the filter needs cleaning even though we had just cleaned it. There was no TV in master bedroom as described. Also no welcome pack like last time. We left a potato masher there as there didn't seem to be one. Apart from that it was a lovely holiday apartment and would recommend to friends and family.
Miss Brinkley
The apartment should have had a key box outside so that we didn’t need to go to the office to pick up and deposit keys. Never been on a holiday let before when you had to do that !!
Mrs Whyteside
I think the above rating says it all. No complaints whatsoever, would definitely recommend it to others. Jill and Penny
Mrs Palmer
Clean, comfortable, well appointed and ideally situated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment.
Mr Simmons
The apartment was very comfortable, clean and nicely furnished. A pleasant and relatively flat walk into Whitby. Although with a toddler it took us 25 minutes to walk into town. There is a park on Whitehall Landing which the kids loved. There are also visitor parking spaces which are useful when you are bringing two cars. I felt it was a shame that the apartment was lacking any games / books but appreciate these may have taken away due to Covid-19. There was also only one TV when two had been advertised which would have prevented some arguments between our two children. Overall a nice stay and we would be happy to stay again.
Mrs Dunn
Overall, this apartment was ideal for us, 4 adults and one 2 year old and we were pleasantly surprised with the extra little things included like, the welcome pack, tissues, bleach, kitchen roll, kitchen foil, dishwasher tablets etc. We purchased many of these items locally when we arrived, not knowing they were included but just took them home with us as they will be used so not an issue. Maybe a good idea to show in more detail on the website what sort of things are included? The location was OK but a good 10/15 minute walk into the centre which whilst fine for adults, not so good for a toddler who doesn't like walking. The road works on the road into Whitby centre may be going on for a while and as it is low season, the traffic wasn't busy so crossing the road as the pavement was closed didn't pose a problem but as these works will probably be going on well into summer and beyond, I can see that this could be a problem as traffic levels increase and crossing the road takes much longer. Not ideal. Great that there was an allocated parking spot and because it was early in the season, the ability to park a second car close to the apartment was really useful. We all agreed we will try some of the other Sykes cottages in Whitby centre but would certainly come back again to the March Apartment. If one thing could be improved, it would be the way rubbish and recycling is handled. This may be a local issue relating to the building and not within Sykes control. Whilst bin liners were provided, again brilliant, the instructions on recycling were confusing as it indicated to use the blue bins but there were none, just one huge green industrial bin. I happened to speak to one of the contract cleaners who said they had stopped having different bins as people were not using them correctly. This meant that there was no way to separate recyclable plastic, paper and glass from general rubbish.
Mr Gunn
Excellent accommodation, very clean, spacious, fantastic facilities. Will definitely be going back on our yearly visit to Whitby..
Mrs Payne
Beautiful apartment in convenient location with parking a huge bonus in Whitby. A lovely hamper provided on key collection and also a parking disc for short term parking in various Whitby streets. So many places to visit on your doorstep and a huge choice of restaurants and real ale pubs. All in all a great holiday.
Mrs Baker
Yes most definitely..... We arrived at Whitby pretty frazzled after a four hour journey and an hour in a traffic jam in Pickering. The last thing I wanted when I collected the key from Yorkshire Coastal Cottages was to be ‘greeted’ by a woman who came bustling out of the shop, full of her own importance with a folder under her arm, who said ‘help yourself to the key, the office is closed and I can’t stop I’ve got an appointment’. As it happens, I was able to get on my knees to access the key safe which was on the door at floor level but I can’t help but think that others may not be physically able. This woman gave a very poor impression of your company, and it is v unlikely that we will use Sykes again after this hostile experience. Thankfully, her colleague inside the said ‘closed’ office came out and kindly explained the best route to our apartment which given the fact that the bridge was closed was helpful.
Ms Jordan
There was no sieve. No welcome pack that we usually get. We were late getting there and hadn't bought any tea or coffee thinking that would be in the welcome pack that was mentioned to us when booking. We were too tired to go into town again so had to wait until the next morning for a hot drink. Everything else was lovely
Gill Mamwell
Super accommodation and nice quiet location. We'll definitely be back!
Bark Party
We loved this well appointed apartment and its situation at the harbour end of town.
Goss Party
Good holiday - lovely places to go. Enjoyed train trip to Pickering. Good places to eat in evening; Trenchers, Magpie and Star Inn the Harbour.
Lovely, well equipped apartment. The dedicated parking space is a real bonus. Nice walk into the town centre when the weather is good.
