Upside down layout, second bedroom is snug but does have twin beds.

This cottage was ideally situated for the centre of Whitby, with a spectacular view across the river of Whitby Abbey. The proximity to the railway line gave a fabulous view of steam trains as they passed by the window. The cottage is modern and all the facilities were clean, working well, and comfortable. The owners provided nice touches as a welcome and the folder provided with comprehensive explanations was very useful. In short, the cottage was perfect for our stay in Whitby.
Mr Lockwood
Lovely place to stay, easy parking and engaging views from lounge window. Nice and close to all amenities with close access to river footpath where you can spot otters and egrets. Steam, and a few other trains pass by daily which is lovely and certainly not an issue. Bed configuration in main bedroom-I’m sure you’ve tried but maybe installing thinner wardrobe and chest of drawers may help with spacing around bed? Thank you for the lovely welcome pack! Paul and Julie.
Mr Dowsett
A Lovely location with Whitby town only minutes away. The cottage was ideal for 2 of us & very clean & well furnished. Only negative was directions & parking info not very clear & parking a bit tight if you've got a larger car.
Mrs Bray
A very comfortable, clean and well-equipped cottage. The views of the harbour were lovely from the upstairs living room, but the Abbey was only visible from certain seats in the room. However it is strange that the massive car park just outside the cottage (across the other side of the adjacent railway line) was not mentioned in the blurb. At times this was packed out and coaches would leave their engines on with diesel fumes coming into the living room if the windows were open. It would surely be very busy in the peak of the holiday season. The car park somewhat marred the view and the experience of the cottage, which was otherwise excellent.
Mrs Legg
Great property in good location very close to centre of Whitby but away from the crowds. Slightly misleading information about the property description saying that there were 'occasional trains' passing by during the day, sometimes there were 3 an hour. No comment about it backing onto a car park either. Bedrooms were slightly cramped and I am glad there was only 1 person in the twin bedded room. Everything else was very satisfactory and a well equipped clean property.
Mrs Brooke
Clean and extremely well equipped with everything you need and lots of stuff like washing up liquid, loo cleaner etc provided as well as treats, tea bags, sweeties. We have stayed in cottages where you get nothing. WiFi great. Our only negative is the noise generated to the bedrooms downstairs through the floorboards upstairs. Very loud. We had a great stay though and thanks.
Mrs Cox
What a fabulous place to stay! Well deserving of its 5 star rating. Stokers Rest was comfortable, well presented and had everything we needed. It’s location was perfect for us and we loved the steam trains puffing past the window. The welcome pack and flowers were a much appreciated touch - just loved the biscuits. This lovely place contributed to one of the best holidays we have had - Thank you so much
Mrs Langdon
Very clean and spacious cottage, parking and location brilliant for town, definitely going back.
Mr Sanders
Wonderful comfy cottage.. Spotlessly clean. I hope to return as soon as possible..
Ms Worden
We enjoyed a lovely week in Stoker’s Cottage which is ideally placed to walk out and about around Whitby. The hosts keep the Cottage in immaculate condition. We parked the car and didn’t need to use it for the week. A very good Coop supermarket is a short walk away across the car park on the level. We also enjoyed the views from the living room windows across the river and up to the Abbey and watched the trains pass by. But the occasional 6am train woke us as it rumbled past and it has to hoot loudly before the crossing. The downstairs bedroom has an external front door which is unusual but no problem. Will we return ? Oh yes. Thank you.
Mr Archer
Very comfortable and welcoming cottage. Beautifully maintained and cleaned to a very high standard by housekeeper. Loved the little welcome pack and flowers. An absolute home from home.
Mrs Kell
Very clean property. Great location and parking good. Lounge furniture is dated and not very comfortable. Needs more comfy chairs instead of corner suite and a chair that didn't have much use. Garden furniture too hard and uncomfortable and cannot be moved and would be nice to have individual chairs and a table. Could also do with a patio umbrella for hot days. Other than that we had a lovely stay in Whitby.
Mrs Brown
We had a very enjoyable holiday. The Cottage is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Ideally located to explore Whitby and the surrounding coast.
Mr Street
Had a very enjoyable stay at Stokers Rest over the May Bank Holiday, everything was spotless and well maintained. Lovely little welcome pack with a handwritten card on arrival and fresh milk in the fridge. Location was great and with the added benefit of private parking, I just wish we could have stayed longer.
Mrs Baker
Arrival instructions were followed but lead to a completely impossible angle for entry down the slope to the cottage front. Directions need to take guest to train station where the turning is Windsor Terrace. Instructions do not indicate a slope needs to be taken down past cottage to arrive at parking. Ironically black folder in cottage is clearer but have arrived & parked by then! After this hiccup , lovely holiday.
Mrs Williams
Another lovely stay at the cottage. It's always great to return to Whitby ans stay here. The nice welcome treats were a nice touch. We enjoyed day trips to Scarborough and Filey and had a nice visit to Sandsend for lunch ( the crab sandwich at Sandside cafe is a must !) We had fun on the beach and enjoyed fish and chips . We also had great pizza and beers at the brewery. Looking forward to the next visit
