A beautiful Georgian town house, refurbished with spacious accommodation over four floors, ideal for families or small groups. This glorious Georgian property in the heart of Whitby has been lovingly and creatively renovated to provide a very stylish holiday home. Located in the fashionable West Cliff area, it has been newly renovated and refurbished to a high standard, with great attention to detail and provides spacious accommodation over four floors.

Great service from Yorkshire Coastal Cottages. We look forward to our next break in October. Decor and lighting beautiful, fantastic location. The Magpie Cafe for the best seafood/fish and chips. Jackson butchers in Ruswarp as always very good. Villages of Staithes, Sleights, Runswick and Robin Hoods Bay worth visiting. Good walk along the beach to Sandsend and visiting the Sandsend Cafe was good.



Lower Ground Floor
On the lower ground floor is a well-equipped kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and Smeg fridge/freezer. There is also a shower room on this floor.

Ground Floor
On the ground floor is a beautiful sitting room with attractive lighting, flat screen TV and comfortable seating.

First Floor
On the first floor is a master double bedroom with king size bed, and stunning free-standing, roll-top bath. On the second floor is the second double bedroom and a luxury bathroom with bath and hand shower attachment, WC, wash basin and chrome radiator.

Third Floor
On the top floor is a delightful twin bedroom.









The Town House is located in an quiet position in the West Cliff area of Whitby, just a few minutes walk from local shops, the town centre, pubs, restaurants, bars, the quayside and the beach.

The Townhouse is a Georgian property that provides holiday accommodation for up to 6 guests over 5 floors.

Arrival and Car Parking

There are a number of parking spaces immediately opposite the property which are available on a first come first served basis. These spaces require a scratch card permit or a parking disc.

The entrance to the property from the front is via a stone staircase, with 7 steps at 20cm high. The stairs have a clear width of 90cm and a handrail on the left.

Entrance and Ground Floor

The wooden entrance door is 82cm wide and has a 7cm threshold at the bottom. There is a 5 lever lock at 90cm from floor level and a rim lock at 115cm. The door opens inwards into a hallway with painted floorboards. The hall is approximately 2.1M by 1.6M.

Hallway has access on the right to the lounge through a wooden door, which is 73cm wide with a door knob at 72cm. The lounge is approximately 4.5M by 4.4M and has painted floorboards. The room contains a large corner sofa, a 2 seat sofa and a single chair, along with a central coffee table located on a loose rug. There is a TV unit, along with a TV box and DVD player to one side of the chimney and built in shelving to the other side. The room has an original but non-working fire with a tiled surround and marble hearth.

Access to the lower ground floor is from the ground floor hallway. There are 12 stairs down and the stairs have a clear width of 86cm and a handrail on the right at 90cm. The last stair down has a restricted head height of 165cm.

Lower Ground Floor

The kitchen door is 70cm wide, with a door knob at 84cm and has a head height of 1.8M. The kitchen has a tiled floor and measures about 5.6M by 3.2M. The kitchen has a number of floor and wall units and a timber worktop at 88cm. The kitchen contains a ceramic sink, a dishwasher and a single electric fan oven, with a gas hob and extractor above. The microwave sits on a shelf at 1.4M from floor level. The room also has a table with a height of 79cm, along with 4 chairs and bench seating. There is a free standing fridge freezer. There is a bespoke bench seating area by the back door. The under stairs cupboard houses a washer dryer. The back door is 72cm wide and has a lock at 1.4M. There is an 18cm step down from the back door. This door gives access to a shared corridor that is 80cm wide and leads to the rear gate. This gate is 70cm wide and has a Suffolk latch at 1.3M.

Access to the first floor is via the ground floor hall. There are 8 painted up to a half landing and then a further 8 stairs up to the first floor landing. The stairs have a clear width of 82cm and spindles and a handrail on the right at 77cm. The stairs are all 18cm high.

First floor

The first floor landing is approximately 2.1M by 1.3M and has painted floorboards.

To the right of this landing is the master bedroom which has painted floorboards and is 4.7M by 4.3M. The doorway is 76 cm wide and the door knob is at 86cm. The king size bed has a mattress height of 65cm and sits on a large loose rug. The spaces around the bed are 2M to the left, 60cm to the right and 1.2M at the bottom. The room also contains 2 built in wardrobes, a single chair, a chest of drawers with TV on top and 2 bedside tables. The room features a roll top free standing bath. The original fireplace houses a non-working fire basket.

Access to the second floor is via the first floor landing. There are 8 carpeted stairs up to a carpeted half landing and then a further 7 carpeted stairs up to the second floor landing. The stairs are all 18cm high. The stairs have a clear width of 80cm and have spindles and a handrail to the right at 84cm. There is a storage cupboard located on the half landing.

Second floor

The whole of the second floor has a low ceiling height of 184cm. The second floor landing is carpeted and measures around 3M by 1.4M.

Access to the bathroom is off this landing through a 70cm wide door, with a door knob at 85cm. The room has a tiled floor and is 2.9M by 1.5M. This room contains a WC, a basin and a bath with hand held shower attachment.

The second floor landing also leads to a double bedroom through a 72cm wide door, with a door knob at 82cm. The room is carpeted and measures around 4.1M by 3.5M. The room contains a double bed with a mattress height of 60cm. The spaces around the bed are 85cm to the left, 85cm to the right and 2.1M at the bottom. The room also contains 2 built in wardrobes, a single armchair and a bookcase with a TV on top.

Access to the third floor is via a door on the second floor landing. The door has a clear width of 63cm and a door knob at 84cm. There are 10 carpeted stairs all at 20cm high leading up to the top floor. The stairs have a clear width of 77cm and a rope banister on the left at 1M.

Third floor

The third floor is an open plan carpeted loft space containing two single beds. The head height is restrictive as the ceilings slope from 2.1M to 107cm. The room is carpeted and measures 6.8M by 2.5M. The single beds are located against a wall on one side and have an open space to the other. The mattress heights are 60cm. The room also contains a wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a large wooden chest. The room also has under eaves storage. The stairs are open at the top and caution needs to be exercised when entering and leaving the third floor.

This room contains a cupboard that houses the boiler and hot water cylinder.

Thank you so much the town house was a lovely much need break for my family. The house was perfectly situated and easily accessible to the centre and the beach. The house had everything we need for our break. The only downside was getting parked as all the w spaces and the car park seemed to get taken up very quickly every day so we ended up paying in the car park. We will definitely return, Karen & family

Nice comfy sofa to come back too after day out, lovely kitchen to enjoy evening meal sat round the table and a gorgeous bedroom to end the day. Would happily recommend staying here

A beautiful property overall. Needs a bit of TLC in the kitchen in places and could do with comfier kitchen chairs. Also be careful with the bench as tips up very easily. However did not detract from a very comfortable stay. The Yorkshire Coastal office is nearby and very helpful if needed. Overall, a great week.

Fabulous location and very tastefully decorated. The beds were spotlessly clean. I had worried parking might be an issue but it was in fact all ok - despite it being a bank holiday weekend. We were a party of 6 adults and there was plenty of room. All in all a lovely stay and I’d definitely consider returning.

This house is so lovely. A Georgian house feels so right in Whitby but this one is a cut above. Plus the beds and sofas are comfortable. Sheets and towels soft. WiFi excellent. The house is clean. Everything works just fine. Great location. The owner has put so much love into the house. If it was mine I would never want to rent it out, it’s too nice.

Stayed at The Townhouse in Whitby for the week, the house had been lovingly restored. However unfortunate for us when we got there the cleanliness of the house was in adequate. We spent the afternoon on the phone to Yorkshire coastal cottages who basically wrote us off until the following day. They sent some cleaners around who gave a quick clean with toilet bleach and disappeared again. When we returned to the house and contacted Yorkshire coastal cottages they basically passed us onto the out of hours team who were unhelpful too. We therefore had to clean the house ourselves which was unsatisfactory especially considering we had a four month old in the house. The following day they dropped off sweeping brushes, mops and a few cleaning bits for us to do ourselves whilst we waited for the cleaners to come back. Yorkshire coastal cottages were unhelpful and almost 2 weeks later I am still waiting for the issue to be resolved. I would be reluctant to book with them in the future and wouldn’t recommend them to others.

From the kitchen and sitting room to the entire range of bedrooms, it was absolutely fabulous; the most beautiful house we have ever stayed in.
