Eastgate Farm Cottages is located in the charming village of Thwing, nestling in the glorious Yorkshire Wolds and the countryside is spectacular – ideal for walking and cycling, with the beach and Filey only a ten minute drive.

Thwing is a small village in the Yorkshire Wolds in the East Riding of Yorkshire situated about 8 miles from the east coast. The name Thwing is derived from the Scandinavian language meaning “strip of high land”. The area is mainly agricultural and the richly coloured view of the surrounding area gives this Yorkshire village a tranquil air.

There is a pub in the village and a few good eating places nearby. There are some excellent cycle routes and walks in the area as well as many places to visit in this area of Yorkshire including the neighbouring towns of Driffield (8 miles to the south), Bridlington (8 miles to the east), Filey (8 miles to the north east), Scarborough (11 miles to the north) and Whitby (26 miles to the north).

Historic Yorkshire attractions to explore include Castle Howard, Sledmere House and Burton Agnes Hall.

For golfing enthusiasts, Ganton Golf Club is a 25 minute drive away – one of the finest championship golf courses in England with a reputation of being a wonderful course.

This Yorkshire holiday barn is in an excellent situation to explore Whitby (1 hour), York (45 minutes), Hull (The Deep 50 minutes), Pickering (35 minutes) and Helmsley (45 minutes). London is 2.5 hours by train with Leeds Bradford Airport 1.5 hours away.

It seems to go on forever and there’s always plenty of room for the little ones to let off some steam and for the adults to walk for miles uninterrupted.
