Ground Floor

Beautifully furnished, it’s a very spacious, single storey property that has three bedrooms, with a double bedroom with king size bed which has an en-suite bathroom with shower over and two twin bedrooms, one of which has zip and link beds that can convert to a double.

The living area is open plan with fabulous exposed beams. There is a well-equipped, stylish kitchen that has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, small freezer, dishwasher and a washing machine with integral dryer. The dining area is ideal for relaxing and enjoying meals and adjoins a large sitting room area with comfortable sofas, a book and film library and large Smart TV and DVD player.

The house bathroom is a joy and is very large. Beautifully done in limestone, with a large free-standing bath, two hand wash basins, shower, WC and bidet.

The Complex

The complex is gated and has a gravelled driveway and courtyard with parking, a pretty central fountain surrounded by flowering plants, plus a terrace outside the cottage where you can sit and enjoy al fresco meals, a morning cuppa or a night cap under the stars.

The pool is fabulous and there is a smart changing area for both males and females. The water is warm, you can sit and enjoy a good read on one of the loungers.


This property is suitable for those with mobility issue as its on one level however be aware there are 2/3 steps up to the property.



Furrows Cottage is located in the charming village of Thwing, nestling in the glorious Yorkshire Wolds – the countryside is spectacular – ideal for walking and cycling, with the beach and Filey only a ten minute drive.

Filey Beach

It seems to go on forever and there’s always plenty of room for the little ones to let off some steam and for the adults to walk for miles uninterrupted.

The Coble Landing

There is lots of kiosks here selling seaside snacks, teas and coffees. Essential before a walk along the spacious promenade, dotted with coastal themed sculptures.

The Filey Brigg

This narrow rock peninsula is a magnet for historians and achaeologists. The cliff top above The Brigg forms part of the Country Park, which is popular with picnickers, birdwatchers and hang-gliders, and is the start of The Wolds Way.

Filey Museum

A past winner of Discover Yorkshire Coast’s Small Attraction of the Year award, is housed in a building dating from 1696, and is crammed with fascinating memorabilia, including an extensive photographic archive.

Dalby Forest

Cyclists can enjoy a challenge at Dalby Forest, or perhaps follow some of the Tour De Yorkshire route and tackle the famous Cote De Harwood Dale or just pedal village to village along the idyllic country roads of the nearby Wolds and admire the views David Hockney has famously painted.

Bempton Cliffs

Bird Lovers will love the nature reserve at Bempton Cliffs to see the 250,000 gillemots, gannets and puffins who flock there to raise their young between April and August. It is a haven for birds and animals, including an important colony of great-crested newts.

Stephen Joseph Theatre

Scarborough is 20 minutes north of Filey where theatre goers can enjoy the world premiers of Alan Ackybourn plays.

Utilities: All utilities, bedding and towels provided. A cot and high chair are available on request. There is garden furniture and a shared BBQ (available during summer, not available 1st October – 31st March).

Catering: Catering can be arranged and Tesco are able to deliver to this property.

Parking: Parking for three vehicles.

Note: Guests have complimentary use of the swimming pool (open between 8.30am and 6pm); the pool is 12m x 5m, the shallow end is 1.2m and the deep end is 1.8m (Please bring your own swimming towels). There is an all-weather tennis court and a games room that has table tennis.

For larger groups, the neighbouring cottages are Hurdles (4 guests), Cartwheels (6 guests) and The Old Barn (8 guests).

Please note, this property requires a 7 day notice period for all bookings i.e. last minute bookings not available.

This property does not accept same sex groups e.g. hen or stag parties.


Furrows Cottage is a spacious barn conversion on one floor with double height ceilings and exposed timber beams throughout.

Arrival and Car Parking

Access to the property is through double metal gates with a clear opening of 4.6M. This leads to a large gravelled courtyard which provides ample parking for all four barn conversions within this development. The parking spaces are block paved.


Access to the front door is via the front patio area. There are four 15cm steps up to the flagstone patio, which measures 18M x 3.5M. There is also a ramped access to this patio area. The ramps are 1.3M wide and have metal railings on the right at 1.1M high. The first ramp is 9M long and goes from floor level to 70cm. The second ramp is 5M long and increases a further 30cm in height. The patio area has a table and six chairs. The inward opening timber stable door gives access to the house. The door has a clear opening width of 1M and there is a 20cm step up into the property. The 5 lever door lock and handle are 1.2M from floor level.

Most of the internal timber doors in this property have lever door handles and are all around 1M from floor level. The radiators throughout the property are heated by a biomass burner located to the rear of the property. All of the rooms in this property have double height ceilings and exposed timber beams.

The main entrance door opens into a large open plan kitchen and lounge area. The kitchen has a tiled floor and measures 5.2M by 5.6M. There are a number of wall and floor units and a laminate worktop height of 92cm. The washing machine, dishwasher, electric oven, fridge and freezer are all below the worktop. The microwave sits on top of the worktop. The electric hob is also on the worktop.

To the right of the kitchen is the master double bedroom. The door has an opening width of 78cm. The room is carpeted and measures 3.3M by 5.2M. The double bed has a mattress height of 55cm and spaces around the bed are 1.1M to the left and 1.5M to the right. The room contains two bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a chair.

The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom. The door has an opening width of 78cm. The room has a tiled floor and measures 2.3M by 2.4M.  The room contains a WC, a wash basin and a bath with a shower over.

The lounge has a 10cm step down to it from the kitchen. The room has laminate flooring and measures 5.2M by 7.4M. The room contains two large sofas, two armchairs and a unit that houses a TV. The room also contains a table with a height of 80cm and six chairs. The lounge leads to a 1.2M wide corridor that has two 14cm steps down to it and is 6.3M long. The corridor has doors off to the following:

The second double bedroom has a door with an opening of 78cm. The room is carpeted and measures 3.7M by 3.8M. The mattress height is 50cm and the space around the bed is 1.1M to the left and 1.1M to the right. The room contains two bedside tables, a single wardrobe, a chair and a chest of drawers with a TV on top.

The family bathroom has a door with a clear opening of 78cm. The room has a tiled floor and measures 2.3M by 3.9M. The room contains a WC, a bidet, two wash basins and a quadrant shower. The shower measures 80cm by 80cm internally, has a 65cm door opening and a 10cm step up.

The twin bedroom has a door with a clear opening of 78cm. The room is carpeted and measures 3.3M by 5.2M. The two single beds have a mattress height of 60cm and the spaces around the beds are 1.2M to the left, 1M to the right and 1M between. The room contains a two seat sofa, a single wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a single chair.

Outside Facilities

The property has shared use of the following:

The indoor swimming pool is accessed via the front courtyard. There is a stone patio area outside the pool house that measures 3.5M by 20M. The patio contains a table and four chairs and a gas barbeque. The pool house is accessed via a pair of outward opening French doors, which have a clear opening width of 1.2M. The lever handle and lock are around 1.2M from floor level. There is a 15cm step up into the pool house. The pool house has a tiled floor throughout and is leads into the changing rooms. There are male and female changing rooms and each contain a shower enclosure at 80cm by 80cm and a separate WC, accessed through doors that are 72cm wide. The space at the side of the pool measures 2.4M by 14.5M. The swimming pool measures 5M by 10M, has a shallow end of 1.2M and a deep end of 1.8M. There are six steps down into the pool. The steps are 75cm wide and each step is 14cm high.

The outdoor tennis court is located behind the pool house and is accessed via a path to the left of the pool house. The path narrows in places to 1M wide. The path leads to a tarmac driveway which leads down to the tennis court.

The large games room has double height ceilings with exposed timber beams and feature brickwork walling. The games room houses table tennis, table football and has a number of seats.
