    “We loved this accommodation.”

It was so cosy and comfortable. Very clean and very well equipped. Probably one of the best we have stayed in. Would certainly recommend this Cottage.

The property

Anvil Cottage is a gorgeous holiday home situated in the market town of Kirkbymoorside.

Located in the town’s conservation area, tucked away on a quiet private driveway shared with a few neighbours, just off the main thoroughfare of the town, known as the ‘Gateway to the Moors’.

It is perfect for an exciting getaway exploring the North York Moors National Park, nearby towns and the coast.

One of a cluster of buildings which were once part of the town’s metalworking history, it now offers tastefully furnished, modern accommodation in a charming, characterful cottage.

The sitting room is cosy but spacious, with an original beamed ceiling and here you can snuggle up in front of the toasty living-flame electric fire as you catch up with your loved ones or watch the TV.

Prepare hearty meals in the sleek kitchen/diner, fitted with glossy amenities including a washing machine and a dishwasher, whilst a sociable dining table rests behind if you want to keep the cook company before tucking into your food.

Refresh yourself before bedtime and head upstairs to the gorgeous shower room, soaking away your troubles underneath the dreamy walk-in shower before wrapping up in a heated towel from the rail.

Two stunning bedrooms, one with a standard size double bed and smaller 4ft double bed, await on either side, both well presented with colourful themes and ample storage.

If you want to breathe in the fresh air with your morning coffee, there's also a charming seating area at the front of the cottage, great for enjoying a moment alone before the day ahead.

From here, soak up your surroundings and stroll into the marketplace, just a stone's throw away, discovering a plethora of independent shops to browse and supermarkets to stock up on ingredients, as well as the 760-year-old weekly market on Wednesdays, and you're spoilt for choice with the pubs and eateries around.

Visit some of the local area's renowned attractions including the fascinating Ryedale Folk Museum, the expansive Kirkbymoorside Golf Club, and enjoy great walking and cycling opportunities, road and off road.

For a historic day out head to the beautiful City of York, with Roman roots and steeped in Viking history this walled city hosts modern day eateries and shops, or spend the day walking round the Jorvik Viking Center where you can take a step back in time and visit houses and workshops discovered by the York Archaeological Trust, then take a walk along The Shambles, a narrow street with traditional timber building dating back as far as 13th Century.

Visit other picturesque villages and towns nearby like the historic Hutton-le-Hole, Lastingham, and the ancient market town of Pickering, all with their own unique attractions to explore.

More adventure can be found at the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, Dalby Forest activities centre, and if you fancy a trip to the seaside, Whitby and Scarborough are just a short journey away for a classic day at the beach.

Visit the Market town of Helmsley, spend a day visiting some of its favourite attractions such as the National Centre for Birds of Prey or Helmsley Castle and Walled Garden, there is so much to see and do in the only market town in the North York Moors National Park.

Anvil Cottage is the perfect base to call home during your holiday to Yorkshire.
