We stayed at Cow Byre for a week with our two children (7 and 11).

It’s a wonderful cottage, clean with great amenities and a stunning view. The location was fantastic for visiting York, the seaside and the forests. Castle Howard and Dalby Forest were our favs. Definitely recommend!

We could travel to lots of great places from the Cow Byre ,the countryside and open skies are fantastic too. Camilla and Christopher are excellent,thoughtful hosts.Your flower displays,Camilla, and the bottle of wine were particularly appreciated!Thankyou

Lovely barn conversion.

Well laid out with a bedroom either end of barn both with en suite. Well equipped kitchen, very clean and comfortable beds . Bit of a drive around lanes to get there but we soon got it sussed and not a problem. It's very peaceful and we would absolutely recommend a visit.

Cow Byre is a very pleasant and well equipped place to stay.

The owners, Camilla & Christopher are warm, friendly and helpful people. This was our second stay and once again enjoyed this delightfully pleasant and peaceful venue.

Would recommend this property to anyone thinking of a holiday in North York Moors, and I will be staying here again in a few years time!

Perfect location as very quiet with lovely views of fields and sheep/horses.

The rooms are lovely and light with multiple doors in the lounge area particularly. Nice to sit outside in good weather. As we were 2 couples it is perfect as the bedrooms are at opposite ends of the property giving privacy and allowing us to meet up for meals.

The cow byre was a wonderful place to stay it had everything we needed it was quiet but close to lovely towns and villages to visit.

Pictures do not do justice to this excellent, spacious property.

Owners quickly pointed out where the shower stool was for my elderly father. Highly recommend

The pictures don’t do the place justice and it’s much more spacious in person. Small kitchen is well equipped. A bonus was our toddler loved seeing the sheep and horses and they had some ride on toys he could enjoy. Great location for exploring Yorkshire. Would definitely recommend. A truly outstanding cottage in a great location.

We all enjoyed the stay and used the log burner as an additional heating late afternoon into the evening.

Beds and bedding we are very clean. However we felt the cleaning as slightly lacking, a child sock was found in the twin bedroom between the wardrobe and the chair, an amount of 30p was found on the rug under the coffee table. Our friends put their clothing holder on the top of wardrobe in the double bedroom and on taking it down it was very dusty off the top of the wardrobe. In general we were very satisfied but these little things need attention.

Very comfortable stay at Cow Byre which is well equipped and has a lovely homely feel.

Loved the open plan and cosy nights around the wood burning stove. Lots of great places to visit from this location and easy to find good places to eat out nearby too.

Cow Byre is a most lovely place and our stay there was very enjoyable.

Baby high chair had strap missing so could not secure baby in chair.

Toilet seats were too small or fitted correctly as they did not line up with pan. A lot cobwebs in cottage.

Really is perfect for anyone with mobility problems.

The property is very well appointed and cosy with great views. Well placed to visit a variety of locations in North Yorkshire we would definitely recommend this property. The hosts were also very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

A truly superb barn conversion, comforable, cosy and homely and at the same time spacious, light and airy.

Kitchen was very well appointed, we had everything we needed and more ! Friendly hosts (and caretaker), who seem to have thought of everything, from the lovely welcome tray to the luxourous bedding. The location is great for the peace and quiet, surrounding areas have plenty to offer, most of them being no more than an hours drive away. This is a property we would definitely recommend. PS - If you like Cantonese food get yourself down to the Queens Head in the Village, really good food, not overly priced and a very nice atmosphere.

The property's layout was well thought out and the rooms all furnished nicely.

The bathrooms were especially lovely. The property was warm and cosy, and when the woodburner was alight, it was very toasty! Camilla and Christopher were excellent hosts and we'd have no hesitation in staying here again. There are lots of attractions we still need to see in the area.

Very clean, very comfortable and full of charm. The owners have done an incredible job of the conversion, it’s everything I’d love in a country property. Incredibly spacious and it was perfect for two adults and two young children. We’ve stayed in many self catering accommodations, the Cow Byre is easily the best place we’ve stayed in, we will definitely be booking to return at some point.

We love this cottage. It is so spacious and homely , enhanced by a superb wood burner.

We would like to say a huge thank you to the owners of Cow Byre as it was a pleasure to stay in such an amazing property.

Everything was thought of from the welcome tray to the super comfy beds/rooms with exceptional ensuites. The kitchen area was very well equipped, the lounge with tv/wifi and a super log fire was so cosy as the nights drew in. Even the location was brilliant, as it wasn't to far from Helmsby, Pickering and Malton. We had a great steam train journey to Grosmont, and days out to Whitby ( across the spectacular moors) and Scarborough. This is a property we would definitely recommend.

Everything you need and more. Very comfortable and spotless. Peaceful and private. Had a warm welcome from Camilla and Christopher. Also a welcome pack of wine, milk and biscuits. Fresh flowers in every room. Booked again for next year.

Situated in a very private and peaceful location.

The property is well cared for, clean and extremely comfortable. Only one tiny grumble, a larger freeze box in the fridge would be useful - picnic freeze packs, frozen food and ice cream cartons are a struggle. We look forward to a return visit.

Lovely cottage.

Very comfortable and well equipped. Convenient to access many walks and destinations such as Malton, but once back at the cottage - tranquility. Seating area in garden is a perfect sun-trap - even in mid September. Very welcoming and considerate hosts.

Our week at Cow Byre was lovely, the weather was kind to us and we sat out in the pretty courtyard for our pre dinner drinks every night.

The barn is so comfy and welcoming and has everything you need. Camilla left beautiful flowers in everyroom and a welcome bottle of wine as well as a pint of milk and biscuits which were so welcome after our journey from Buckinghamshire. Our friends so enjoyed in too, thanks for choosing this lovely peaceful place, we would certainly return.

Generous and friendly hosts and a wonderful renovated barn that lived up to expectations. Very comfortable beds and enormous en-suites Would happily live here!

What an amazing place!

Certainly had that "WOW" effect on us and our friends who came with us. We were given a lovely welcome and felt at home immediately. Lovely surroundings and the provision of comfortable seating out in the garden was great for sitting in the sunshine and relaxing. We enjoyed a walk in the little wooded area and also seeing the beautiful horses in the paddock. We will certainly return in the future.

Super time at the Cow Byrne

We had a wonderful stay at the Cow Byre.

The location is perfect - a quiet rural retreat on a working farm with plenty of beautiful towns and attractions close by. The barn itself is a beautiful conversion, we were extremely comfortable. The hosts were also brilliant. Their communication was excellent and we felt very well looked after. We will definitely be coming again.

There was lots of space for our children to play and lots of helpful touches left by the owners for them too - including books and a ride on tractor! They loved seeing the horses and sheep at the bottom of the garden. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area. Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed our stay in the beautiful and well appointed cottage.

It was warm and confortsble enhanced by a wood burning stove.. The large bed in the main bed room was extremely comfortable. Parking for the car was very spacious on hard standing. So all in alll..... this property is highly recomended in our opinion..

The Cow Byre was absolutely lovely, it was in an idyllic spot for us.

Quiet and peaceful but also close enough to a village with ample shops, restaurants, cafes and bars if we wanted to venture a short way. Perfectly placed between York, the coast and the Moors. The owners were friendly and helpful and available if we needed anything at all. We will definitely be back at some stage as its just too nice not to!

This is a top rate cottage with quality furnishings and spotlessly clean.

The owners were very welcoming and helpful proving a welcome tea and biscuits pack as well as a bottle of wine. The property wis well situated with easy access to York, Harrogate as well as the coastal resorts. We would recommend the property to anyone. This was our second visit and we shall no doubt be back again

Camilla is an absolutely fantastic host, the Barn is immaculate and exceptionally well kitted out, a fantastic location and as peaceful as you could hope for with fantastic views, we will definitely return.

Cottage was easy to find, spacious and spotlessly clean and in a pleasant and private setting with a nice sheltered outside sitting area.

Very comfortable beds and pillows. Owners welcoming and friendly. The shortcomings of the sofa/armchairs have previously been mentioned by reviewers! Pans/baking could do with a review.

The accommodation was just what we were looking for in a lovely peaceful setting and such a great location for seeing Yorkshire and the coast with wonderful walks nearby.

The photos didn't do Cow Byre justice - it's so much more spacious and luxurious than we expected.

With underfloor heating and oodles of hot water – all from renewable green energy – we were in heaven! The wood stove was a lovely touch - though we were so warm, we didn't really need it! The bathrooms were huge, showers and bath divine, and the beds incredibly comfortable (I wish I'd taken note of the mattress when I was there!) We had a lovely warm welcome from the owner, with mince pies, tea/coffee/sugar, milk, orange juice and even a bottle of fizz for the New Year – so very thoughtful! The accommodation is perfectly placed for York (we used the park and ride at Monks Cross shopping centre), Malton, Castle Howard, and for exploring the moors. Lots of fab eateries in Malton and the surrounding area - with details all in the guest pack. We loved our stay - it was the perfect place to see out 2019 and then start the new year.

Of all the many holiday cottages we have stayed in over the years, COW BYRE is undoudtedly the BEST.

Everything was first class and when returning to the cottage after a long day in the north yorkshire moors it felt like returning home. When we have our next holiday in north yorshire we will have to arrange the times when COW BYRE is vacant! Thankyou to Christopher and Camilla for making our holiday so wonderful.

Enjoyed our stay in this lovely barn in a very quiet location, the private walled garden is a bonus and an excellent sun trap.

Accommodation on one level with the bedrooms at either side of the main living area. An excellent base to explore the area.

Cow Byre is a lovely place to go to relax as it is away from the hustle and bustle of most places.

Peaceful, there were houses around but you felt quite isolated. Your neighbours were horses and sheep. Well recommended

The armchairs and sofa styles were not very comfortable.

Back too low and seat too deep, so unable to sit comfortably. Needed to be slouched!

The location is just amazing, a peaceful rural setting but near to the town of Malton.

The Cow Byre was really comfortable, especially the super king bed, everything we needed and would have needed was supplied. The decor is excellent and the layout was very well thought out. Lighting was very good as were the sofa's and chairs. Loved the walk-in shower, the bath is olympic pool sized, well perhaps not quite! The welcome milk, biscuits and wine were much appreciated. Overall, we loved this place and would certainly recommend.

The Cow Byre was a surprise, in the best possible way!

The accommodation is of a very high standard and we received an excellent warm welcome from the owner. We were extremely lucky with the weather and despite it being February, we were blessed with warm sunshine every day. The bed was one of the most comfortable we had ever slept in and we felt refreshed and recharged after our week's stay in north Yorkshire.

Our hosts Camilla and Christopher were very welcoming with cake and tea and coffee and a wsrm fire going.

The barn conversion was beautiful 2 good size bed rooms and walk in showeres. The rest was open plan living.
