It’s a wonderful cottage, clean with great amenities and a stunning view. The location was fantastic for visiting York, the seaside and the forests. Castle Howard and Dalby Forest were our favs. Definitely recommend!

“Lovely barn conversion.”

Well laid out with a bedroom either end of barn both with en suite. Well equipped kitchen, very clean and comfortable beds . Bit of a drive around lanes to get there but we soon got it sussed and not a problem. It's very peaceful and we would absolutely recommend a visit.

“Perfect location as very quiet with lovely views of fields and sheep/horses.”

The rooms are lovely and light with multiple doors in the lounge area particularly. Nice to sit outside in good weather. As we were 2 couples it is perfect as the bedrooms are at opposite ends of the property giving privacy and allowing us to meet up for meals.

The pictures don’t do the place justice and it’s much more spacious in person. Small kitchen is well equipped. A bonus was our toddler loved seeing the sheep and horses and they had some ride on toys he could enjoy. Great location for exploring Yorkshire. Would definitely recommend. “We all enjoyed the stay and used the log burner as an additional heating late afternoon into the evening.”

Beds and bedding we are very clean. However we felt the cleaning as slightly lacking, a child sock was found in the twin bedroom between the wardrobe and the chair, an amount of 30p was found on the rug under the coffee table. Our friends put their clothing holder on the top of wardrobe in the double bedroom and on taking it down it was very dusty off the top of the wardrobe. In general we were very satisfied but these little things need attention.

“A truly superb barn conversion, comforable, cosy and homely and at the same time spacious, light and airy.”

Kitchen was very well appointed, we had everything we needed and more ! Friendly hosts (and caretaker), who seem to have thought of everything, from the lovely welcome tray to the luxourous bedding. The location is great for the peace and quiet, surrounding areas have plenty to offer, most of them being no more than an hours drive away. This is a property we would definitely recommend. PS - If you like Cantonese food get yourself down to the Queens Head in the Village, really good food, not overly priced and a very nice atmosphere.

Everything was thought of from the welcome tray to the super comfy beds/rooms with exceptional ensuites. The kitchen area was very well equipped, the lounge with tv/wifi and a super log fire was so cosy as the nights drew in. Even the location was brilliant, as it wasn't to far from Helmsby, Pickering and Malton. We had a great steam train journey to Grosmont, and days out to Whitby ( across the spectacular moors) and Scarborough. This is a property we would definitely recommend.

“Situated in a very private and peaceful location.”

The property is well cared for, clean and extremely comfortable. Only one tiny grumble, a larger freeze box in the fridge would be useful - picnic freeze packs, frozen food and ice cream cartons are a struggle. We look forward to a return visit.

The barn is so comfy and welcoming and has everything you need. “What an amazing place!”

Certainly had that "WOW" effect on us and our friends who came with us. We were given a lovely welcome and felt at home immediately. Lovely surroundings and the provision of comfortable seating out in the garden was great for sitting in the sunshine and relaxing. We enjoyed a walk in the little wooded area and also seeing the beautiful horses in the paddock. We will certainly return in the future.

Quiet and peaceful but also close enough to a village with ample shops, restaurants, cafes and bars if we wanted to venture a short way. Perfectly placed between York, the coast and the Moors. “The photos didn't do Cow Byre justice - it's so much more spacious and luxurious than we expected.”

With underfloor heating and oodles of hot water – all from renewable green energy – we were in heaven! The wood stove was a lovely touch - though we were so warm, we didn't really need it! The bathrooms were huge, showers and bath divine, and the beds incredibly comfortable (I wish I'd taken note of the mattress when I was there!) We had a lovely warm welcome from the owner, with mince pies, tea/coffee/sugar, milk, orange juice and even a bottle of fizz for the New Year – so very thoughtful! The accommodation is perfectly placed for York (we used the park and ride at Monks Cross shopping centre), Malton, Castle Howard, and for exploring the moors. Lots of fab eateries in Malton and the surrounding area - with details all in the guest pack. We loved our stay - it was the perfect place to see out 2019 and then start the new year.

The Cow Byre was really comfortable, especially the super king bed, everything we needed and would have needed was supplied. The decor is excellent and the layout was very well thought out. Lighting was very good as were the sofa's and chairs. Loved the walk-in shower, the bath is olympic pool sized, well perhaps not quite! The welcome milk, biscuits and wine were much appreciated. Overall, we loved this place and would certainly recommend.

MALTON

York 18 miles; Scarborough 24 miles.

The market town of Malton has been the historic centre of Ryedale since Roman times, and has many interesting buildings including the old Corn Exchange and Assembly Rooms. A weekly general market is still held in the town, as well as livestock and farmers’ markets. The Yorkshire Moors are to the north, and the Yorkshire Wolds are to the south, making it excellent countryside for walkers and cyclists. The impressive coastline is just 24 miles away, whilst the historic city of York is an 18 mile journey. A perfect base for touring the attractions of North Yorkshire.
