The property

Ruby's Retreat is an impressive townhouse located in Filey, North Yorkshire, presenting spacious accommodation arranged over three floors, well-suited to families and groups of friends eager to explore the coast and surrounding countryside.

Arrive and park in the off-road spaces before pausing to take in the attractive exterior, then step through the entrance into the hallway where the generous proportions of the home become immediately apparent.

From here, make your way into the snug and the sitting room, thoughtfully connected by a striking double-sided woodburning stove that casts a gentle glow through both spaces, inviting you to relax with a film on one side or unwind with a book in the quieter area as the fire flickers between the rooms.

Continue onwards into the kitchen and dining area, where the open and well-considered layout creates a bright central hub, allowing you to move seamlessly between preparing meals and gathering around the table, while the adjoining utility room adds everyday practicality and leads through to a convenient ground-floor shower room.

Nearby doors offer easy access to the outside, allowing fresh coastal air to drift in after a day spent exploring.

Ascend the carpeted staircase to the first floor, where a collection of inviting bedrooms awaits, including two doubles that provide restful spaces to retire to, along with a shower room finished in calming blue tones and detailed patterned tiles.

The master bedroom offers an expansive feel and features a bath and basin, creating a private spot to relax at the end of the day.

Continue up to the next level where further accommodation can be found, including a single bedroom and an additional shower room, offering convenience for those staying on this floor.

Climb to the uppermost level to discover the remaining bedrooms nestled beneath the eaves, where a double with Velux windows welcomes in natural light, alongside another double and a final single, all arranged to offer flexibility for larger groups, while the upper floors provide a sense of separation that complements the sociable layout below.

Outside, the rear garden presents a welcoming space with seating, ideal for enjoying a drink or spending time together after a day out.

A gentle walk from the doorstep brings you to a nearby shop and pub, while the beach can be reached on foot, making it easy to enjoy time beside the sea.

In Scarborough, explore the historic ruins of the castle, take a boat out onto the tranquil waters of Peasholm Park, and enjoy the lively atmosphere along South Bay.

Bridlington offers the chance to wander through the grounds of Sewerby Hall and Gardens, observe daily life around the harbour, and step into local history at the Bayle Museum.

The North York Moors National Park provides striking scenery, where walking routes lead you across open moorland, through traditional villages, and towards expansive views that change with the light.

Ruby's Retreat in Filey combines generous living space with a well-positioned setting, making it an excellent base for discovering North Yorkshire.

About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Set in the magnificent Filey Bay, Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making it an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels and there is a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated and there are loads of family activities such as Alpamare UK waterpark, Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park and the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where all kinds of common and rare birdlife can be seen. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where you will find great beaches, a castle, the Rotunda Museum and the acclaimed Sea Life Centre. Other towns worth visiting close to Filey include Bridlington, Whitby, Hornsea and Saltburn, which all demonstrate the vibrancy of this picturesque North Yorkshire region.
