Description

One Union Mill is a place with a story to tell.

Set on the site of a beautifully cared-for former 19th-century mill, this ground-floor apartment blends character and ease in a way that feels instantly welcoming.

It’s a great fit for friends or families who want Whitby’s harbourside buzz close at hand, while still enjoying a calm, tucked-away spot to return to at the end of the day.

Enter into the open-plan living space, which invites you to slow down and settle in.

The kitchen is neatly arranged for everything from tasty breakfasts to hearty evening meals, flowing naturally into a dining area made for shared conversations and plans for tomorrow.

Nearby, the sitting area offers a comfortable place to put your feet up, with the Smart TV ready for a film night after a day outdoors.

Sleeping space is thoughtfully laid out, giving everyone their own corner of calm.

The king-size bedroom benefits from its own en-suite shower room, while the second double bedroom is equally pleasant and well-proportioned.

A family bathroom with a bath rounds things off nicely, ideal for a long soak after coastal walks or moorland rambles.

Outside, your private enclosed garden adds an extra layer of enjoyment, whether that’s a quiet coffee in the morning air or a glass of something chilled as the evening draws in.

Allocated parking keeps things simple, and with public transport stopping right outside, exploring the coastline and nearby villages is wonderfully straightforward.

Whitby itself is a joy to explore, with its dramatic abbey ruins watching over the town, winding streets full of independent shops, and the fascinating Captain Cook Memorial Museum charting the town’s seafaring past.

Steam trains on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway offer a nostalgic way to travel through heather-clad landscapes, while Scarborough brings seaside gardens, a clifftop castle and family attractions to the mix.

Beyond the towns, the North York Moors National Park opens out into wide skies, quiet trails and unforgettable viewpoints.

One Union Mill offers more than just a place to stay, it’s a characterful base that lets you experience the best of Whitby and the surrounding coast at your own pace.

Perfect place for exploring Whitby and surrounding area.

Good choice of eateries, and good transport for those without a car. The accommodation was a little tired and in need of a good spring clean. The crisps and biscuits were a nice touch, however, a pint of milk and some dishwash tablets would have been better appreciated. We would certainly stay again. Thank You.

The apartment was lovely, with secure parking and an easy ramp into the property from the car park.

One of of the party is ambulatory disabled and uses a walker, and from that viewpoint, this step-free property was perfect. The ramp at the front leaving the building on foot was almost flat at the left. The layout was very good, especially in the lounge/kitchen/diner. The patio garden was very pleasant and acted as a barrier between the road and the apartment, keeping noise to a minimum and protecting privacy. The shower in the ensuite was easy to access (we brought our own grab bar). One small improvement would be to have blackout curtains in both bedrooms, because of the bright streetlight outside. The location is very convenient: a short walk into town for the able bodied. There was plenty of storage in the bedrooms for clothes, and the shelf under the coffee table really helped to keep our things tidy. The apartment does not benefit from a sea view, but it's only a short distance to the front, where there are plenty of benches. The beds and sofas were very comfortable. There was a pull out washing line over the bath in the main bathroom, which was great for getting our washing dry. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to use. We had a very pleasant stay here and would recommend it to others.

It’s a lovely apartment and it was well fitted out.

It was nice to have a small garden area to sit it as well and the apartment was 5 minute walk from the town centre and also had a lovely public garden nearby, we really enjoyed our stay.
