Turnstone Cottage is glorious - with stunning sea views and beautiful decor, it's a perfect holiday cottage for enjoying the delights of Sandsend - we love the balcony, where you can sit, enjoy breakfast or drinks, or just sunbathe, whilst enjoying the sea view.

There's been great attention to detail with its lovely beach/nautical-themed decor - even the skirting boards have a gentle curve as a homage to the waves which lap the golden beaches nearby; a lot of care has gone into creating a wonderful holiday cottage for a special, luxury holiday. 

This lovely cottage has two beautiful bedrooms, one is a double with a king size bed, TV and a stylish en-suite bathroom with bath, shower, WC and hand wash basin.  The second bedroom, with its bunting and beach-inspired accessories, is a twin room with two full size single beds, TV and an en-suite shower room with large walk-in shower, WC and hand wash basin. 

The first floor is dedicated to a wonderful, vast open-plan living space to take advantage of the amazing views; there's a sitting room area with TV/DVD, dining space for enjoying meals together and a stylish kitchen with granite work surfaces, integrated dishwasher, oven, induction hob, fridge freezer and microwave. 

French doors open onto a fabulous balcony, with table and chairs - it's a simply gorgeous place to sit and relax, whether from early morning whilst watching the sun rise over Whitby in the distance, or late in the evening - we'd light candles and snuggle up to gaze at the stars.  

The property also has a utility room with a washing machine and dryer plus a WC/cloakroom off the living area.

There's the advantage of a garage for private parking for added convenience.

All utilities, crisp bed linens and towels included.  Welcome pack.  Free Wi-Fi. 

One well-behaved pet welcome at a cost of £30.00 per stay.  (Would consider two small dogs.) 

A refundable security deposit of £150.00 is payable with all bookings.

Woodlands Café/bar - a stylish, innovative café bar serving fabulous contemporary food and a wide range of very different dishes, prepared by chef/patron Alex Perkins using fresh, locally sourced produce with a distinctly retro feel. Unbelievably fab homemade cakes and pastries, It is a short stroll along the seafront and along east row, (opposite The Hart)
Wits End Cafe – award winning café just at the end of the bottom lane with a sheltered walled garden.
Sandsend Stores – at the heart of Sandsend and established for over 100 years, Sandsend Stores supply locally sourced produce and speciality foods, fine wines and ales made both locally and around the world, also newspapers and lovely coffee to drink in or take away. A good range of picnic food, beach equipment and buckets and spades.
The Tides Shop – Surfing lessons and hire. Sells locally made Trillo's ice creams and lovely coffee, nice place to watch the world go by. Buckets and Spades and beach gear, now houses a lovely cafe with decked areas directly on the beach.
The Healing Touch - a holistic therapy shop with lovely soaps and gifts etc.
Wild Hart – lovely gift shop next to The Woodlands Café bar
Estbek House - award-winning, two AA rosette restaurant with good food and extensive wine list.
The Hart Inn – lovely traditional village pub (with real locals!) serving good food and hand pulled beers. A South facing garden in summer and a welcoming fire in the grate on chilly days.
Sandside Café – lovely café with new decked and glazed balcony area overlooking the beach, delicious homemade cakes and locally sourced pies and pastries, fresh crab sandwiches/salads. Far end of the village opposite the Turnstone Gallery, summer or winter you are sure to receive a warm welcome as you sit and take in (more!) unrivalled views of the North Yorkshire Coast.

This dramatic stretch of the ‘dinosaur coast’, with its many nature trails over the cliff paths of the Cleveland Way, attracts not only walkers but surfers and fishing enthusiasts too. The romantic castle ruins in nearby Mulgrave woods can be reached along secluded footpaths. A leisurely 3 mile stroll along the beach leads to the ancient sea port of Whitby, famed for its connections with the explorer Captain James Cook. Steeped in history, Whitby’s maze of narrow streets, overlooked by the abbey, and are packed with antique shops, tea rooms, champagne bars and all kinds of restaurants.

The nearby North Yorkshire Moors National Park offers superb mountain biking, hiking and horse riding, and aboard the NYM steam railway you can explore the stunning ’Heartbeat’ heritage coastline with its quaint fishing villages and smugglers coves.

Between Sandsend and Whitby is a fabulous 18-hole golf course perched on top of the cliff.

TURNSTONE COTTAGE ACCESS STATEMENT

Access to the cottage is via the front paved area. There is a drive that leads to a single enclosed garage. The garage door opening is 2.5M wide by 2.2M high.

A door leads from the garage to the utility room and then into the cottage. All rooms in the cottage and the roof top balcony have views out to sea.

The front entrance door is a half glazed inward opening hardwood door and has a clear width of 78cm. The lever handle and lock is 115cm from floor level and there is a 16cm step up into the cottage. The door opens into an inner entrance porch and then another door with an opening width of 78cm leads through to the hallway. The ground floor has hardwood flooring that runs throughout. The lever door handles in the property are all around 98cm from floor level. The light switches are around 140cm. Electric sockets are around 30cm from floor level.

The ground floor rooms are all accessed from the hallway and are as follows: The master bedroom has a door opening width of 80cm. The room contains a double bed with a 5 ft mattress. The mattress height is 65cm. The spaces around the bed are 50cm to the left, 70cm to the right and 60cm at the bottom. The room also contains a clothes hanging unit, and 2 bedside tables. The room also has an en-suite bathroom with a door opening width of 64cm. The fully tiled room contains a bath, WC, basin and quadrant shower enclosure. The shower door opening width is 57cm and there is an 8cm step onto the shower tray. The twin room has a door opening width of 80cm. The room has a pair of 3 ft beds with mattress heights of 65cm. The left bed has spaces of 130cm to the left, 80cm to the right and 50cm to the bottom. The right bed has spaces of 50cm to the left, 150cm to the bottom and the right side is against the wall. The room also contains a clothes hanging unit and 2 bedside tables. The room also has an en-suite wet room that has a door opening width of 64cm. The room contains a WC, a basin and a walk in shower with a clear door opening of 78cm.

The utility room has a door opening width of 72cm and a further door that leads out to the garage. Another door leads out to a rear yard. The utility room contains a washing machine and tumble dryer and also has a cupboard that houses the combi boiler. There is an under stairs storage cupboard off the hallway.

There are 12 carpeted stairs leading to the first floor and they are all around 20cm tall. The stairs have spindles and a handrail on the right at 1M from floor level.

The first floor of the cottage is open plan and contains a kitchen, dining and lounge area and has hardwood flooring throughout. The kitchen contains a built in electric oven, electric hob, fridge freezer and dishwasher. The granite worktop has a height of 91cm. The dining area contains a table and 4 chairs. The lounge area contains 2 sofas that can comfortably seat 5. The room also has a corner TV unit, a side unit and a central coffee table that sits on a loose rug.

There is a small cloakroom with a door opening width of 64cm off the lounge that contains a WC and basin. A pair of sliding doors gives access to the roof balcony. The door opening width is 85cm and there is a 10cm step out to the balcony. This exterior space has glass balustrades with a metal handrail at 122cm. There is a table and 4 chairs.
