Brambles Bistro 

You can’t get more local than a bite to eat at Brambles Bistro. This totally independent and family-run business is based in the heart of the bay, which means you’ll gain full access to a huge range of Yorkshire cuisine. Fish comes in fresh every day from Whitby market, while the meat and pastries are sourced from local butchers and bakers. Whether it’s a quick coffee or a hearty steak, you’ll be given the same warm welcome. 


Fish Box 

For clifftop views from atop Bay Bank, Fish Box is the ideal choice. As the name suggests, you can bag yourself some of Yorkshire’s best fish and chips here, complete with a generous dollop of mushy peas. Enjoy indoor or outdoor dining at your leisure – just make sure you get here on the right day. The Fish Box is only open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Grosvenor Hotel 

Food and nightlife don’t come any better than the Grosvenor Hotel. As one of the most entertaining places to eat in Robin Hood’s Bay, the Grosvenor regularly holds themed evenings with live music. Sit around the log fire or partake in a game of pool. You can bring the whole family for a light bite here in this charming, unapologetically British restaurant. 


Mariondale Fisheries 

Mariondale Fisheries, otherwise known as Maid Marion Fisheries, is famous for its generous Yorkshire portions. You won’t go hungry as you tuck into a round of fish and chips, right in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. Take the little ones and be prepared to walk away with a doggy bag! 


Smugglers Wine Bar 

Historic charm and cosy candlelit suppers are on offer at Smugglers Wine Bar, one of the homeliest restaurants in Robin Hood’s Bay. Here you can sit around an open fire and enjoy artisan pizza fresh from the oven, as well as deli boards and a selection of local ales. Fancy a different tipple? There’s also an extensive spirit and wine list.

Tea, Toast and Post 

As the name suggests, the Tea, Toast and Post restaurant is based inside an old post office on the North York Moors National Park. In addition to locally sourced cuisine, you’ll also be treated to regular entertainment in the form of live music. Enjoy the ambience as you sip on a hot drink and relax. 


The Bay Hotel 

The Bay Hotel is an awe-inspiring Grade II listed building which has been standing for more than 200 years. You’ll find it marking the end of Alfred Wainwright’s famous 192-mile walk from St. Bees in Cumbria to Whitby. Whether you’re peckish after a long trek or just seeking panoramic views, you can tuck in at the Bay. 


Victoria Hotel 

With a sea view orangery and clifftop garden, the Victoria Hotel offers one of the most exquisite places to eat in Robin Hood’s Bay. Visit for fine dining such as locally sourced scallops, or make a trip of it and book it as a wedding venue! The hotel holds regular events, perfect for those staying away from home.

The Cove 

One of the more upmarket Robin Hood’s Bay restaurants, The Cove offers a classy café bar and restaurant setting. As named in the Telegraph, it features some of the best seaside views in Robin Hood’s Bay – which also explains why it’s such a popular wedding venue. 

Here you’ll find all your classic British pub classics, including an artisan pizza menu. It’s the perfect place to pop in after walking along the Whitby to Robin Hood’s Bay route. 


Wayfarer Bistro 

The Wayfarer Bistro is the perfect reward for walkers who’ve made it all the way to the top of the bay. Here you’ll find a regularly changing menu, all of which features locally sourced meats and seafood. Be sure to visit on Sundays to take advantage of the Steak and Bake special. This award-winning restaurant in Robin Hood’s Bay is open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 6pm.

Coast Cafe Bar, between Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby 

Whitby is known for being one of the best places to stay in Yorkshire – and at the Coast Café Bar, you can swing by the seaside town in no time. You’ll find Coast Café Bar on the famous Cinder Track, the former Whitby to Scarborough railway that today brings in tourists from miles around. Visit during your Cleveland Way walk for a coffee and a light bite. 


Falling Foss Tea Garden, North York Moors National Park 

Few restaurants near Robin Hood’s Bay offer scenery as stunning as the Falling Foss. This tea garden features its very own waterfall, so come for the food and stay for the photos! Nestled in amongst these beautiful gardens you’ll find a fully functional kitchen offering treats such as savoury pastries, soups and salads, and hot drinks.  

The café is open daily from 10am to 4pm between the months of April and September. It only opens during the best weather though, so make sure you check ahead of time!

The Fylingdales Inn, Fylingthorpe 

One of the best-known restaurants near Robin Hood’s Bay is the Fylingdales Inn. Pop to Fylingthorpe on your way over from Boggle Hole. From midday onwards you’ll find filling Yorkshire pies, burgers, and locally sourced scampi. Wash it all down with a local ale or stay for the restaurant’s many themed evenings. 

From steak and wine nights to New Year’s Eve, there’s entertainment for everyone – including the dog!
