“We loved Castle View from the moment we arrived.”

The owner was great with communication, help and advice prior to arrival. The house was clean and tidy and was like home from home. The landscaping of the gardens were lovely. Managed to have a couple of coffees outside on the decked area. The position was perfect for visiting pubs and restaurants in Helmsley, and a short walk to the open air pool. Our dog loved his time there. We used the supplied covers (great idea even though we brought our own from home) on the furniture. Luckily, being ...

Luckily, being a Cockapoo, there were no dog hairs to clean up as he doesn’t shed. As the week progressed, we used the supplied hoover and brush to clean up (as you would at home). Beds were comfortable, bathrooms clean. Plenty of storage for your clothes. We particularly like the boot room (entrance hall?) at the front of the property. We used the supplied charcoal BBQ. Kitchen utensils were plentiful. Only suggestion here is maybe a few more juice glasses, as we found we quickly ran out or had to wash them by hand rather than put them in the dishwasher. There were 6 of us, all adults. Everyone spoke highly of the property. If visiting the region again, would definitely like to book again. Thank you for a great week!

About the location

HELMSLEY

Kirkbymoorside 6 miles; Thirsk 14 miles; Pickering 13 miles; York 26 miles.

Lying in a sheltered corner of Upper Ryedale, on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, Helmsley is a prestigious market town with a spacious market square surrounded by houses, hotels and shops. The area is important historically - Helmsley has its own 12th century castle and English Heritage’s Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard are close by. Helmsley also boasts an arts centre showing films and plays, and an outdoor swimming pool, which is open during the summer. There is excellent walking on the doorstep - indeed the Cleveland Way starts in Helmsley - and the surrounding North York Moors with their hidden dales and villages are pretty in all seasons. York is less than an hour's drive south, as is Scarborough, Whitby and the east coast, whilst Pickering and the beginning of the famous steam railway line (North Yorkshire Moors Railway) are a little over 20 minutes' drive.
