    “Hardwood Farm is an absolute gem of a place.”

    We stayed in East cottage which was clean, spacious and comfortable & had a large outdoor courtyard area for the dogs to play. The property has a huge indoor communal swimming pool that is shared by the other cottages on site but we mostly had this to ourselves. The pool is accessible directly from east cottage which was massively convenient. Having a pool made our stay so much more like a holiday and we used it every day. Eugene, the owner, was great and showed us round on arrival and was available to answer any questions we had during our stay. The property is located just off the A64 with good access to the east coast, York & the lovely town of Malton but is far enough back from the road that you don’t even notice. It is surrounded by fields and is lovely & peaceful in the evenings if you want to sit in the beautifully looked after grounds. This was our first stay in Yorkshire, having previously chosen the Lakes, but we have been won over by this property and hope to come back soon.

This dog-friendly apartment makes a great base for a family to explore the beauty of North Yorkshire, with the historic city of York and the sandy coast within easy reach.

Head up the internal stairs to begin enjoying your apartment; rustle up an evening meal in the kitchen to enjoy round the table as you plan some excellent holiday fun, or relax on the sofa after a long day of walking.

When the evening draws to a close, head to one of the wonderful bedrooms; a double or a twin, which are complimented by bathroom so guests can soak their muscles.

Outside there is ample off-road parking for guests, a private courtyard which is safely enclosed for your dogs and a great spot for a glass of wine under the stars, whilst guests also have access to a communal lawn and a superb indoor heated swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Hartswood Farm Cottages

Situated near the small hamlet of East Knapton, surrounded by open, working countryside, these four properties, including two lovely apartments, a ground-floor open plan barn conversion, and a delightful wing of a former farmstead are set within the owner’s large property and grounds. Ideally located, these Malton cottages are close to many attractions in the area, including stately homes, gardens and the seaside towns of Filey and Scarborough. Both of the apartments provide inviting first-floor accommodation, with bright and comfortable sitting rooms and modern bathrooms and kitchens, whilst the former farmstead cottage boasts period features, such as beamed ceilings, parquet floors, original fireplaces and a woodburning stove. Rillington is a small village and civil parish located on the A64 road in North Yorkshire, with easy links to the historical city of York and the bustling coastal town of Scarborough. Rillington was mentioned in the 1086 Domesday Survey and is now home to a Post Office, two pubs, The Coach and Horses and The Fleece, and a church. The rural community was developed many years ago due to the presence of fertile soil and the village is still home to an active farming community. Nearby attractions include the Scampton Walled Garden, a contemporary garden open for visitors throughout the year, and the Wolds Way Lavender, a lavender farm and visitor centre. Further afield into the city of York, you can discover the incredible York Minster and grand city walls.
