Millers Cottage

We loved our stay at Miller's Cottage!

Andrew and Susie were great hosts and really looked after us. The cottage was extremely well equipped, and very comfortable for us and our lab. Old Malton is a lovely place, and with 2 pubs - one next door - it was a super location from which to explore N Yorks. Rob, Mary and Isla (woof!)......Aberdour, Scotland

The cottage was better than expected with everything provided to make our stay comfortable.

Andrew had even contacted us to ask if we would like either the summer duvet or heavier winter one . He was waiting for us with a warm welcome offering to help unload the car. A quick introduction to the cottage and facilities followed and we knew we had made the right choice of property matching our expectations and more. Having been used to Sykes cottages for many years I have not come across a more friendly host with an abundance of local information to share with us even offering to drive us into town to catch a bus for one of our trips. We are definitely going to return after a couple of years so we can catch up with our new friends Andrew and Sue.

A lovely comfy cottage with fabulous hosts in Andrew and Suzie who provuded so many wonderful extra's, their pride in the cottage shows in bucket loads.

The breakfast welcome pack, sourced from The Whole Hogg farm shop, was delicious, including the best black pudding ever. Not being 'dog people' we were so very grateful that Andrew and Suzie kept their four safely away from us while we were outside. Lovely friendly and welcoming hosts.

Hosts were very warm, friendly and accommodating allowing us have secure parking in the courtyard.

Every effort was made to ensure we had a wonderful stay with fresh flowers a generous breakfast hamper and treats for our dog. The cottage was homely and spacious with every comfort thoughtfully provided, including preference of duvet tog. The shower was refreshing and the kitchen well equipped. We loved the huge garden where our dog could safely roam. We would love to return. Thank you.

Millers cottage clean and cosy well thought out would defiantly go again Susie and Andrew very welcoming and would go out of their way to help you .

A truly fantastic little cottage with all any one could need for a peaceful holiday away.

And with the hosts living on site alway about to help out any way they can. We will certainly be back.

Received a warm welcome from Andrew and Sue on arrival.

The cottage is everything you could ask for, warm clean, comfortable and ideal holiday retreat. Everything you could need was provided including tea, coffee sugar, milk cold water in the fridge and a fantastic breakfast pack. There was also fresh bread and butter and a lovely pack of biscuits. Based in Malton it was an ideal base for accessing all the attractions and places to visit in North Yorkshire. There was also 2 pubs local serving meals and were dog friendly as was the cottage and our little Olive received a warm welcome from our host. Would recommend this accommodation 100 per cent to anyone interested and would not hesitate to return there ourselves . Thank you Andrew and Sue

We had a shorter than intended stay due to one of our dogs becoming very ill .

However we really did enjoy our brief time with Andrew & Susie and there lovely cottage. Very clean and tidy with everything you need for a lovely holiday. Some excellent walks right on your doorstep and made the most of our time with trips to Helmsley , Castle Howard and Malton. We hope to return in the future to stay again in this lovely well situated cottage with its friendly owners .

It was a lovely location and the cottage was definitely 10 out of 10 .

Andy and sue was so kind and helpful. The welcome pack was such a lovely thought and they didn’t forget Luckey our dog . Recommend the pub next door very friendly and the food was good as well. Hopefully we will be back next year

Absolutely fantastic stay over the New Year 2025/26.

Andrew and Susie were brilliant hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for this wonderful genial couple. Upon arrival we were met by both and we were shown around the cottage and instructed about how everything functioned. We were absolutely delighted with the welcome pack which included a breakfast platter.....NO, this was a platter that provided two breakfasts of extremely high quality produce all locally sourced from high end butchers. Much appreciated and enjoyed. The cottage is well appointed and the garden is enormous so dog owners will love it. Please note that Andrew and Susie will keep their dogs out of the garden whilst your dogs are enjoying the garden. Old Malton is located close to all amenities any visitor could possibly need during their stay and walks with your dog/s start from just across the road. We have no reservations in recommending Millers Cottage to anyone and have done exactly that to our friends and family. Best wishes to you Andrew and Susie and your boys!

Fabulous cottage and hosts.

The cottage was trimmed for christmas and a lovely welcome breakfast pack. Andrew and Susie made us very welcome and it was just like home from home. We had a brilliant christmas week, and would definitely return.

Really glad we opted for the second week.

Thanks again to our wonderful hosts Andrew and Susie. A great relaxing holiday in a very comfortable, clean and fully equipped cottage. A great location for visiting the beautiful surrounding area. Can’t wait to return again. Les & Jan

We had a great week at Miller’s Cottage.

The location was excellent. Andrew and Susie were excellent hosts and couldn’t do enough for you. Thanks so much for the welcome pack, it was much appreciated. The cottage was very well equipped, clean and comfortable, very much a home from home property. We would be delighted to return again. There are two super pubs within a couple of hundred yards, each serving excellent food and a great selection of drinks. The town of Malton which can get busy, is only about a 30 minute walk away. Overall a superb break. Les, Jan and Misty the dog

Absolutely fabulous cottage , great hoists, very very clean, would highly recommend this cottage, and we cannot wait too book again next year.

From andrew, lisa, and brandy x

Millers Cottage was a lovely place we really enjoyed our stay my husbands mobility is not good but everything in the cottage was very accessible for him Andrew the owner was so helpful.

the welcome pack was excellent sausage black pud bacon egg and all the trimmings was exceptional so handy for the Royal oak pub next door overall everything was perfect and we will certainly be going back

Fantastic stay equipped with everything you need hosts were lovely couldn't do enough for you absolutely grateful stay

My dog and I have been having a November holiday for about 5 years and this is the first place that has well and truly ticked all my boxes.

Ground Floor accommodation with a layout that meant I could keep an eye on my hound at all times. A kingsize bed and fresh linen where I slept better than at home. The bedroom was dark and quiet. Well appointed kitchen with washer that had everything I needed. Decent sized TV with Netflix included and access to your apps. Huge secure garden, shared with the owners hounds but they made sure theirs didn’t come out when mine was as he’s a bit snooty. A large shower with decent water pressure. Lots of places to sit, sometimes when you look at 2 guests” accommodation you get a hard looking 2 seater sofa and that’s it. Lots of places to walk your dog, either round the extremely pretty village or just across the road where there is open grassland for off lead sniffies. Plus a lovely couple of hosts who were thoughtful, friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Definitely the best holiday we’ve had. Felt so welcome and the stay was extremely comfortable and relaxing.

Fulfilled all our expectations and more .

The owners go out of their way to make your stay memorable and enjoyable . Very spacious , a very well equipped kitchen , super comfy bed ,and the cottage is in a perfect position to access public transport to all the great places in the area . Lovely walks along the river just across the road ,and a great pub next door !

This property has everything you need to feel like home.

The owners are very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area giving great insight on what to do/see.

Millers cottage gave my husband and I the ideal place for our week in Yorkshire, our hosts Andrew and Susie were so helpful and knowledgeable about the area, our welcome pack will take some beating, they thought of everything, I would recommend our hosts and their cottage to anyone looking for a friendly place to stay, we are looking forward to visiting them again

Thank you very much for going out of your way to help us.

Andrew and Susie were amazing. The cottage was very comfortable and very cosy. Everything we needed was there.

The cottage was excellent very clean every possible things you would need or could need was there waiting for us.

We'll set up if you wand to take a dog with you on holiday lovely garden. But also a really lovely place to stay without a pet.

We had a lovely week at Millers cottage.

The hosts were amazing from start to finish. The property and garden far exceeded our expectations. The garden behind the cottage was so peaceful and relaxing we sat there most afternoons enjoying the sun. The welcome pack was by far the best we have ever received , a lot of thought has gone into everything ensuring a wonderful stay. Bed extremely comfy, good powerful shower and everything you could possibly need in a kitchen. Location was great too, easy walk to Malton by footpath or main road. The patisserie is worth a visit as well as the Royal Oak pub next door(great fish and chips). Coastliner bus stops right outside and provides a great trip over the Yorkshire Moors to Whitby. Would highly recommend, don't dither or you won't get in, it's understandably very popular! Thank you for a wonderful week.

Such a warm welcome nothing too much lots of lovely extra touches pictures on walls beautiful fresh flowers on table and in the lounge All the washing liquid etc plus milk butter bread and a fabulous breakfast pack of quality ingredients Had a fabulous week great dog walks from front door highly recommended you try this cottage

.

The owners were so helpful and welcoming. A lovely cosy cottage with all comforts thought of. Lots of little extra touches which made the holiday very homely and comfortable. Plenty of space in the cottage and very well equipped. One of the best places we’ve stayed and would enjoy coming again.

Fabulous welcome to this lovely property including great welcome pack.

the bed as others have stated was lovely and comfortable. Location was perfect for us. Easy to walk into Malton or drive/get the bus to other places. Nice to have the friendly pub just next door. We had a lovely stay despite the challenges of our elderly dog, Molly being poorly. we would definately recommend to others and will be re visiting again in the future.

Just a wonderful find!

A beautiful little cottage, perfect location with lovely on site hosts. Andrew and Susie were so welcoming. There were flowers in the cottage and a welcome pack like no other - even for the dog! The cottage has a large enclosed garden. Everything we needed and more was available to us in the property. A fabulous holiday and we will return. Highly recommended.

Fab holiday home, very thing you need, cosy and comfortable even for our puppy.

Andrew and Susie great couple on hand if you needed anything and a fantastic welcome pack, went down a treat next day.

Excellent condition, everything thought of by the owners.

Great location for visiting the sights, will definitely be back!

Great little cottage, in a superb location.

Fantastic dog walking over the road, and then the Wolds, the Howardian Hills, and the NY Moors all within easy reach. Andrew and Susie were more than helpful, and we had a lovely week.

Thank you for a lovely holiday.

The welcome from the owner explaining all the facilities was very useful and Andrew and Susie were very helpful during the whole of our stay. The welcome pack which included treats for our dog was one of the best we have ever received. The cottage is so central for travelling by car or by public transport to resorts including Pickering, Whitby and Scarborough. A truly wonderful stay, lovely facilities and lovely reception. Thank you

The best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in over 40 years!

Comfortable and cosy. The most wonderful hosts Andrew and Susie who were so welcoming and on hand at all times if needed. Wonderful location in the middle of Old Malton with two excellent dog friendly pubs in walking distance with good food. Highly recommended.

Andrew and Susie could not have been better hosts.

They are both so friendly and easy to get on with and nothing is too much trouble for them should you require anything, however, the cottage is the best equipped place I have ever stayed and therefore nothing was in fact required but they are always on hand should they be needed. The welcome pack, again, was the best I have ever experienced with a large, quality, local produce pack, bread and milk for us and quality treats for our dog who was equally welcomed. The cottage itself is well located, although being on the main road, it is set back from the main house and is very quiet. You cannot hear the traffic or in fact any fireworks as we came away partly for that reason, being around Guy Fawkes night. There are grass fields opposite for off lead romps which my spaniel loved and requires. The cottage is most comfortable and the bed is a dream. Everything is provided for any length of stay. I can thoroughly recommend Millers Cottgate and will return again if it is not already booked up, which is my fear. First Class in every way!!!

Andrew and Susie are amazing hosts.

Fantastic little cottage which was spotless and had everything you needed and more. The welcome pack was fantastic, even our dog Monty got one. Central for everything so days out to the various coastal towns was easy. Will definitely visit again. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

This is a lovely bungalow with everything you need for a perfect stay susie and Andrew are perfect hosts and was so willing to make our stay perfect in every way, cleansiness and facilities are 5 star and as said before we cannot rate to highly .

many thanks again David and Lynne Lincoln

Millers cottage is one of the best places we have stayed, it has absolutely everything you could need, Andrew and Susie are the most perfect hosts.

Andrew was so very helpful getting our cases in and out of the car, couldn't have asked for anyone better, the places we went to were just delightful. Everyone in the Royal Oak pub next door was very welcoming, best holiday ever can't wait for next year, Christine and Bruce

This has to be one of the best Holiday cottage I have been in in relation to comfort, activities,Facilities I didn,t want for anything as we had everthing we needed home from home and the welcome pack we had on arrival was top notch the owners could not do enough for you through out our stay excellent.

We enjoyed a lovely stay for a week in early September in this pretty cottage, real home from home, spotless and well equipped.

Nice big shower with joy of joys a safety mat for us older folks. Have to mention the bed as have many other visitors, really comfortable and king sized. Well situated for visiting this part of beautiful Yorkshire, Our excellent hosts Andrew and Susie were very welcoming and full of information of places to visit, generous welcome breakfast pack (we made a main meal of it). 2 good pubs in Village. Good Internet connection. All in all a lovely experience.

I will start with, compliments to Andrew and Susie, the most perfect hosts we have ever met.

We have been in many Sykes cottages, but ever met host has wonderful as Andrew and Susie. Millers Cottage was the perfect retreat for us. The welcome pack delicious, the bed so comfy wanted to bring it home. We will be revisiting the Millers Cottage, no doubt about that. SIMPLY THE BEST, keep up the good work. Andrew and Susie are one wonderful couple. Thank you.xx

A beautiful holiday cottage with everything we needed and more besides.

The hosts Andrew and Susie were such lovely people who were so helpful and friendly. Wonderful enclosed garden for our two dogs to run in. Thankyou for a great week!

We had a great stay at the cottage, which was so very well equipped, clean and comfortable.

Andrew and Susie were the most kind and friendly hosts. The best stay in Yorkshire so far. Cant wait to return next year. Good luck to you both. Phyllis and Terry

Absolutely amazing stay here at miller’s cottage, so comfortable and perfect location, their welcome pack is absolutely amazing.

Andy & Susie have thought about everything and made our stay at the cottage perfect, our dog absolutely loved it aswell. The location is great as it’s about a mile away from malton with shops and supermarkets, you have the Royal Oak next door and the Wentworth arms about 5 min walk, both do food. Also within easy reach of travelling to lots of places, we will definitely be back, thank you for a fantastic stay

Super helpful owners, attentive and caring.

Cottage was just the ticket, clean and comfortable with good facilities. Ideally located in Malton next to a nice pub with good food. We will return.

Fantastic place.

Welcoming ,accommodating hosts who were great without being intrusive. Cottage itself has everything you need with games books just in case (hopefully not ) it rains .Comfy bed. We were most impressed with the welcome pack ,made up for a hearty breakfast , from a local farm shop close to the cottage .Our dogs had their own treats and while I don't want to spoil their surprise it was very touching and such a lovely gesture .The location is excellent so much to see and do all within a hours drive and if you fancy leaving the car bus stops just outside the cottage .Next door is a pub serving excellent meals but be advised best to book to avoid disappointment. Malton itself is 15 to 20 minutes walk away and well worth it with many varied shops pubs and restaurants we especially liked the spotted cow near the farmers market and the chapter 2 bar the whole place was dog friendly .Many varied walks right on your doorstep .All in all a wonderful place to stay and visit. I apologise for the rather long review but trust us it's well worth a visit .

Nice property in a nice area.

2024 is the hosts first season letting Miller’s Cottage and we wish them well in their new venture. This was the first time we have stayed in a host’s garden and the hosts were very friendly, pleasant and helpful. The breakfast provided by the hosts for our first morning was beautiful and the bungalow was nicely laid out, clean and comfortable. It was well equipped with a comfortable bed and a lovely thermostatic shower in a large cubicle. We felt Miller’s Cottage provided good value for money. There is a nice pub next door with a friendly welcome, good menu and a large garden. The property is about a mile from Malton along the riverside path if you like to walk. The property is on the Coastliner bus service route to Whitby, billed as Britain’s most scenic bus route, and we enjoyed a couple of trips out at £2 per single journey. This is a good location for walkers and we were out walking most days. We had an interesting time in Yates and Sons in Malton, it feels like they sell everything and it is well worth a visit. Finally, my wife left a sentimentally valuable necklace in the bungalow and the hosts had it back to us in no time, very helpful. We would recommend this property.

Lovely cottage, was as shown and expected.

Very comfortable and fully equipped nothing I would change.

Well where to start.

We had a fabulous week the cottage is very spacious and cosy for two and contains everything we needed. Andrew and Susie were very welcoming and excellent hosts with local knowledge without being intrusive. The area is lovely with friendly locals and good walks nearby. We used the bus which stopped right outside the cottage. Best welcome pack ever and one of the best cottages we have had. Thanks Andrew and Susie.

Having had a lovely week at miller's cottage can really give it an excellent rating.

We were made to feel really welcome by friendly but not intrusive hosts who could not do enough for us. The place is warm and cosy with all we needed to ensure our comfort, even though its one bedroom the rooms are spacious and furniture comfortable and it's so quiet at night so we slept really well. A great place for seeing the area and coast.

Great place to stay.

Lovely accommodation, lovely hosts.

The perfect holiday for me and my dog.

Cottage beautifully equipped, quiet, spacious, and very comfortable. Very large, secure garden for peace of mind when out with the dog. Ideal location. Nice off-lead walks just the other side of the road. About a mile to town centre, with supermarkets and lots of interesting specialist shops. Under half an hour to the Park and Ride at York, and only seven miles to the glorious North York Moors beyond Pickering. Andrew and Susie are perfect hosts, knowledgeable and friendly. The "welcome pack" of goodies was the best I have ever had in many years of staying in holiday cottages. Splott the dog loved the soft bed and the treats too! We intend to come back, as one week was not enough to visit all the attractions of the area.
