Causeway Cottage

Lovely property in a busy spot but close to the beach which was perfect for walking down with the paddle boards.

The place was generally clean with a few areas that hadnt been touched in a while but I wiped all that up for the next people. Lots of extras to use like fold up chairs, washing hanger, which we were grateful for. Lots of different cutlery and utensils which is so useful. Some places just give you a set of 4. I was so pleased they had an airfryer too! Plus a lovely welcome bag with some yummy bits in. No milk but some gorgeous butter. I think the only snafoos was some minor maintenance issues which is expected near the end of the holidays. Didn't bother us though. Made no difference to our stay. I did message the owners when we first arrived to mention a couple of things so they were aware but I stupidly text it to a landline number so they wouldnt have got it. A mobile number would be helpful because you dont really want to start your holiday with an awkward conversation. All in all I would totally recommend causeway cottage. Great location, not noisy considering lots of people traffic heading to beach and pub a minutes walk away. Nothing bad to say really!

Causeway cottage is a lovely little spot at the seaside.

Great house with lots of room and all amenities you could wish for. There were a few negatives that if looked at further I think it would make it more like a 5 star stay rather than the 2 stars I’ve given it. The house itself is lovely and has everything you could want, there were even chairs for the beach available! The only thing I would say is it needs a really really good clean. It just felt a little unloved to the point there were still wrappers on the floor that and under sofa cushions from previous guests (although I’m not sure why previous guests wouldn’t put them in the bin). The floor downstairs was filthy as though it hadn’t been hoovered/mopped at all (I ended up cleaning it with disinfectant wipes as my 1 year olds hands and knees were filthy after crawling around it for 10 mins when we first got there). The windows had cobwebs all over and have clearly not been touched by the cleaners for a long time. The carpets didn’t look like they’d been hoovered either, although the hoover there was useless as I had to use it a couple of times and it just pushed the crumbs around rather than picking them up. The bedding looked so dirty. I get that it’s dog friendly but clearly people have been letting their dogs jump on the white bedding and it was just covered in marks everywhere, I’d like to think it was clean but just the presentation was bad. It’s not hard getting marks off white bedding (I do have pictures). We brought our dogs but they strictly stayed in the downstairs part of the house. Overall we did have a lovely stay but I just don’t think I’d want to stay in this particular house unless I knew it was clean especially with such a young child.

Absolutely beautiful house at the bay Filey.

Kitchen had everything you could need and a lovely loaf of bread, butter and eggs were left for us. Comfy settees, good size telly, nice side lights for night ambience. Patio door out to nice patio area with a barbecue and large communal field. Bedrooms were both double, one with en suite, lovely bedding, towels and cushions. The whole site at the bay is clean, well maintained and safe. Didn't use the gym or pool but had a pass to them so could have done. Only slight criticism was that the mattress in the en suite room was quite well used and had a dip on one side but didn't make it uncomfortable, just probably ready for a change in the not too distant. Would come back in a heart beat, it's just lovely.

Lovely cottage with all the facilities you need.

Situated close to site amenities and short walk to the beach.

The cottage is lovely overall.

Comfy beds, well equipped and clean. Located near to the facilities and the beach. Sadly a big negative for us is the ‘garden’. It was not mentioned in the listing that it is a communal garden with no fencing at all. It caused big issues for us on arrival as we had our dogs with us who like to lay out in the sunshine. We had to sit in, on what was a very hot weekend, with the doors shut. Had the listing stated there is no actual garden we wouldn’t have chosen this property. If you are travelling with dogs this may be an issue for you too.

Excellant property.

Clean and well maintained. Everything you need for time away. Wanted for nothing. Lovely open space outside for pooch to enjoy. Welcome pack was extremely thoughtful and very much appreciated. Been in a few cottages in The Bay and this one is by far the best

A very comfortable cottage, we would gladly stay there again!

Comfortable cottage, very close to the sea and facilities at The Bay.

Minor issue with heating and hot water on arrival. Owner easily contacted, and quickly resolved. Well equipped. Very good welcome pack with locally sourced food.

This was our second stay at Causeway cottage.

The cottage has everything we need for a lovely holiday with our dog. Great location for onsite facilities and beach. The welcome pack was appreciated however slightly disappointed there wasn’t any milk for a quick cuppa before we did the big shop. The only thing that could make it more perfect would be to have its own parking space - with it being on the corner of the area where the larger properties are they often have more cars than they have parking for and although not a massive issue for us I can imagine it being an inconvenience not being able to park next to the cottage at busier times. Although there is parking a bit further up near the pub but not ideal for unpacking the car with heavy luggage/shopping etc. However we have stayed at The Bay multiple times and Causeway Cottage is still one of our favourites.

The property was excellent in all respects.

The only quibble I have (and it's a small one) is : the publicity stated 'private parking', which indicated a designated parking spot for Causeway Cottage. There was no designated parking, and though this did not cause a problem, it could do in high season. Otherwise, everything was lovely.

As always, just love staying at the Causeway Cottage!

Perfect location/accommodation and even our dog knows where we are when we arrive. Plus the weather was an added bonus. Hopefully, next year a two week stay!

Third time that we have stayed here.

As usual we enjoyed our stay. Feels like a home from home. Thank you.

A perfect home from home in a fabulous location.

Perfect holiday home, great location, warm, comfortable and well furnished

A towel in each room with a toilet would have been useful.

Could not locate the radio 'in the kitchen' The standard lamp in the open plan area downstairs needs a new bulb- couldn't locate one which was 'right' for the lamp. Warm and comfortable and near the facilities on the complex Quieter than we thought it might have been at the weekend, but this was a good thing. Wondered why there was a orb to mount in the parking area.

Excellent little property, returning two months after our stay earlier in the year says it all really!

!!5* star accommodation and site, especially for a dog owner with long walks along the bay! Did miss the lovely 'welcome pack' this time, but perhaps no longer feasible? And no logs for wood burning stove in two visits. But, this does not distract from the qualities of the Causeway Cottage and it's fabulous location. We will be back again and continue to highly recommend the place!!!

Absolutely perfect for our family.

We have already booked again for next year. It is close to the beach path so little legs can walk without complaint. The play park around the corner is lovely. The facilities and activities on site are great, we tried archery and tie die. The cottage has plenty of room for a family of four. A real home from home. Location wise it is also only a short drive from Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington so if you want to go out it’s not far at all. Just perfect and the owners are very quick to help if you need anything. Nothing was too much trouble. Thanks you so much.

What a lovely spacious cottage close to the beach and lots of places to visit close by .

We enjoyed our stay very much would have benefited having some deck chairs to relax in the sun .Very dog friendly .Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely cottage .

Lovely accommodation, presented nice and an ideal location for a dog owner.

Just a stones throw to the beautiful beach, we will be back again! The welcome pack of bread, biscuits, butter, jam, eggs and milk was a sweet touch, starting your holiday on a happy positive. The Bay site looks impressive on approach and it kept clean and tidy, also very quiet. Only positive criticism, we would suggest one allocated parking space adjacent to the property specifically for the 'Causeway Cottage'.

The cottage was like home from home, we are so looking forward to returning to the bay next year.

We stayed here for the last week of April 2024.

The property is like a home from home. Very comfortable, clean and well equipped, even down to the new addition of an air fryer in the kitchen. We stayed here at the same time last year and was impressed then as well. Lots to do and see in the area and the weather even shone on us.

Another fantastic stay at The Bay.

First time in Causeway Cottage. Beautifully presented, a lovely welcome pack and great location for facilities and the beach. Nice big hallway, ideal for sorting out two dogs when coming in off the beach.

Brilliant place to stay, we went for Christmas.

Definitely would come back very nice house. The log burner was brilliant

Our 2nd visit to Causeway Cottage, beautiful home from home.

Location is amazing with the dedicated pathway to Filey beach, which is a fabulous walk in both directions. The en-suite was updated in Spring, added bonus. Having two comfortable settee’s meant the two of us could put our feet up at the end of the day. The log burner made for cosy evenings whilst the storms did their thing. Comfy beds, plenty of hanging space for the array of clothes needed for our British weather. Being allowed to take our two dogs is great, the large hallway is a handy space for drying them off after their walks to the beach & romps in the sea. An amazing welcome pack, can highly recommend the cafe & farm shop the goodies come from! I used the Shark hoover during our stay, I did try to empty it but couldn’t figure out how to open it.. perhaps the cleaners could make sure it’s not too full for the next guests. Thanks Gwyn & Sally for a great week, can’t wait for a return visit.

A really nice house, amazing welcome pack.

Lots of pretty extras. Loved the picture in the downstairs cloakroom. Bed very comfortable. As we were just two we had a bathroom each ! Towels a very good quality and a good size. Plenty of crockery and utensils. We had a really nice stay.

This was our 2nd stay at Causeway Cottage.

It was clean and comfortable and the location was ideal for taking our 2 dogs to the beach. A lovely house.

Property was ok and as described.

My concerns around cleanliness relates to finding a mouldy bowl of pasta in the microwave and a used plaster on the back side of one of the twin bed quilts. Tried to raise this with one of the cleaners but the message kept returning, not delivered. Seems the number is no longer is use / incorrect. Although we knew the garden was open, we were not aware that all residents use it as a walk through as there is a grassed path at the bottom, therefore we had a lot of random people walking very close to our patio doors.

Excellent cottage, the welcome pack of eggs, butter ,preserves, bread ,milk ,tea coffee and even beer was a really nice gesture.

Love the umbrella being there, as i forgot mine, although we didn't need it. Lovely shower, comfy beds. I do think the rack on the bbq should be changed incase people wanted to use it..We didn't so not a problem . Overall an excellent comfortable cottage, would definitely go again .

A super holiday property.

Everything that we needed was provided even down to a super welcome pack. Made good use of the location, Close to the beach , which was amazing, and actually on the King Charles the third’s coastal path. Two comments we would have liked sharper preparation knives but understand that some people put them in the dishwasher, which blunts them. Also not an issue with the cottage but better recycling facilities on site would have made us happy. Thank you for letting us use this delightful cottage.

Loved the accommodation as it had everything we needed for our family and the cottage was nicely furnished.

The location of the cottage was brilliant with easy access to the beach, and the drive to neighbouring towns/villages wasn’t far out of reach. In general the cleanliness of the cottage was alright, but few things could be improved. We had to give the high chair a good clean as it had dark brown smears left on the tray; possibly chocolate spread? - but not entirely sure. We had to clean the glassware on arrival as a lot of the glasses had residue or smudges on them; and so we had no confidence they’d been washed up/cleaned ready for use. Aside from that the rest of the cottage was nice, clean, and the sofas and beds were very comfy to relax on. Parking for 2/3 cars was also a bonus! Overall we would like to stay in this cottage again. Thank you.

Beautiful house, but some basics missing that I would have expected in this standard of property e.

g. cheese grater, garlic press, sharp knives, cleaning clothes and chemicals, washing up pads/brushes, etc. Also very disappointed that the children's pool was shut all week due to staffing issues as this was the main reason we booked this property. Would put us off returning unfortunately as this really let the facilities down when you have small children.

This was the best holiday cottage we have stayed in.

It was spotless, well maintained and fully equipped. The welcome pack was greatly appreciated, we can recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay.

The property was an ideal base for us.

It was modern, clean and comfortable. There was everything we needed. The location was good..not far from the beach. We had a lovely welcome pack when we arrived ..it was very appreciated.. Once again a lovely holiday.

This property is the best we've ever stayed in.

Clean, well maintained and equipped. The welcome pack was lovely and extremely welcome with it being a added bank holiday on the day of our arrival and most places were closed. Highly recommended and wouldn't hesitate to book again. A*.

We have just returned from a week at causeway cottage and cannot recommend it enough, clean and cosy, kitted out with everything you could need to ensure a home from home stay, loved the welcome package too, I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely holiday cottage!

We really felt welcome at arrival, especially the basic grocery was a real bonus after a long journey. Netflix access too. Nice beach around the corner and enough to see/do in the area. We missed an outside space where we could hang our beach towels and other clothes (washing machine again a bonus

The property was not cleaned to a high standard.

The bathrooms had hairs in the sinks and on the floors. The kitchen table had crumbs on it, the kitchen chairs and table legs had smeared chocolate spread in areas. The kitchen in general, needs a deep clean. Cupboards not clean, cupboard doors and handles sticky and visibly dirty. The ensuite bathroom had a damaged toilet seat (needs replacing) There was a footprint mark on the toilet seat lid! The ensuite door does not close. The main bathroom door does not close properly or lock. The drawers in both bedrooms were dusty and had hairs in and generally need cleaning. The plug in air freshener was overpowering. I’m providing honest feedback as I would want to know if I owned this property. The cottage is lovely but the lack of cleanliness let it down. It would be useful to state that the garden area is not enclosed and dogs have to be kept on a lead at all times.

lovely cottage all you need and a welcome pack nice walk down to the beach and to Filey alone beach at low tide from here

Excellent cottage with good facilities and we loved the fact that milk, biscuits, eggs etc were left by the owner for us on arrival.

We liked the log burner. We managed to purchase logs from the local filling station. The only negative was that the bath was so slippery and there are no handles to aid old people to get out of the bath. Apart from this minor issue it should not put off anyone from booking Causeway Cottage as the property is close to all amenities, shop and swimming pool, close to several coastal resorts and close to the beach.

The cottage was superb, everything we could have wanted and more, the owners had left us a lovely welcome pack consisting of bread, jam, real butter, biscuits, eggs and milk, together with tea, coffee and sugar and even doggy treats, very thoughtful of them.

We had a super holiday, the only bugbear was that we couldn't get comfy on the sofas but the beds were very comfortable.

Great cottage in great location at the Bay resort just outside Filey, would definitely return.

Only very slight gripe was there was no circular tray for cooking Pizza

V clean modern house.

V uncomfortable sofas, everything else was good.

Excellent cottage located on The Bay development, with pub, restaurant, spa.

Cottage was clean and comfortable and we didn't want for anything (apart from better weather!). Easy to locate and access. Well sized rooms, and well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. One of nicest cottages we have stayed in. Sorry we forgot to leave our positive feedback in the visitors book! Highly recommended and thank you.

Having stopped at the property under the previous owner for about 3 years and seeing the property going down hill we went to other cottages in yorkshire, But wow the new owners have really turned this cottage around and made it a top rated place to stop , brand new kitchen ,carpets and flooring new beds and mattresses all new furniture and decoration .

stopped here for a week and didn't want for anything very well equipped kitchen comfy furniture. I could go on and on but check it out for your selves FANTASTIC / really big thank you to Gwyn and sally for a fabulous holiday in a beautiful cottage will defiantly be booking again

The house was very clean, which is more than welcome in these awful times.

The bed was very comfortable and the towels were good quality. We enjoyed the log burner which we lit in the late afternoon. Unfortunately there weren’t any black bags or milk, and the starter pack for the fire consisted of 2 pieces of wood and a few newspapers which were mentioned in the house rules book. No big deal as we had brought our own. Very happy to recommend. We have stayed at The Bay complex before so knew what to expect. Good place to stay to get to the other seaside towns in the area and access to the beach. The latter part of the access is very steep and would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues

Absolutely brilliant, this cottage is newly refurbished and beautifully decorated with everything that you need for a relaxing holiday.

Its a minute walk to the new little shop that has everything, the gym, coffee shop, pharmacy and the pub. The bed was comfy and the log burner cosy. The fact that we could take our four legged friend (even though the owners aren’t dog owners themselves) was fabulous. Thank you for that.

The property was absolutely wonderful.

The site fantastic, only 10 minutes from beach. Couldn’t have asked for anything better. We will definitely return.

Property was fantastic.

Appeared to be newly refurbished and decorated. Outside area was excellent. Location within the the resort was perfect. One minute walk to shop, cafe, bar/restaurant and sports facilities. Used the indoor swimming pool and sauna/steam rooms every day. Great sandy beach just a few minutes walk away. The Bay is perfect for both a family holiday with young children, and a peaceful relaxing one.

A lovely holiday property with everything a family needs for their time away.

We will definitely return to Causeway Cottage.

Causeway Cottage is in an excellent position at The Bay, just a few steps from the pub/restaurant and a ten minute walk to the beach.

. Lovely bright open plan lounge and two very comfortable bedrooms. Excellent showers and a large bath. A real home from home.

A fantastic cottage would go back again loved it

This was a great holiday couldn't hope for a better one 5 star's.

Hope to go back

Great place to stay

This is an absolutely gorgeous cottage, it was clean and well equipped.

A stones throw from the beautiful beach and excellently positioned for exploring the North Yorkshire Coastline. My only criticism would be the on-site pub/restaurant, the food was excellent however, due to the fact that a good section of the seating area was closed down and not in use, it made it virtually impossible to get a booking even for just a drink, I appreciate this was largely due to Covid but I feel the set up could have been better managed. This would not deter me from visiting again however, as the overall experience was excellent.

We had a lovely stay at Causeway Cottage.

The house was clean and comfortable, hand sanitiser stations in the hallway and kitchen. The Bay is really peaceful and a short walk to the beach. The cafe and pub onsite served lovely meals too also offering takeaway. We would definitely revisit.

We had a fab time, Would definetly recommend to others, perfect for the dog friendly beach, actually saw a whale in the sea.

Fab place

Well situated and lovely place to stay would recommend to anyone

Causeway Cottage is a welcoming home away from home.

We have stayed in various locations on The Bay for a number of years, this was one , if not the best, we have stayed in. Wi Fi is now available thanks to the owners going that extra mile. I think that we will be back at some point. Liz and Chris

Warm inviting accommodation ,relaxing, Would have been better with WiFi for evenings to make the most of the smart tv.
