Dan’s Holiday Cottage

The place was clean and had everything you needed.

We always stay in dog friendly properties, and that is exactly how they are. However, this stated dog friendly and there was rules and pressures about having a dog, it did not relax you. Dogs not aloud in the bedrooms, not allowed on sofa (we always take her bed and blankets) also several reminders about not leaving a trace of dog hair ANYWHERE!! we have never had this when booking dog friendly properties. It shouldn't be listed as dog friendly as thats not what it seemed to be. We left the property spotless just like we always do.

We’ve just spent three nights at Dan’s Cottage in Barmston and what an absolute little gem of a place.

The cottage was spotlessly clean, beautifully presented and incredibly well equipped. There are two bedrooms – a large double and a twin – a shower room, and a lovely open kitchen, dining and living area complete with a log burner. Everything we could possibly have needed was provided, from plenty of crockery and kitchen equipment to cleaning supplies, fresh towels and linen. The welcome pack with biscuits, tea and coffee was also a really nice touch. There’s even a washing machine and a lovely little private garden at the rear, accessed through a gated area, with a washing line. Being detached and tucked away in its own little courtyard makes it feel very private and peaceful. Barmston Beach is only around a 10-minute walk away, with easy access through the nearby caravan park. The location is also fantastic for exploring the Yorkshire coast, with Bridlington around 30 minutes away and Fraisthorpe, Skipsea, Hornsea, Withernsea and Scarborough all within easy reach. On the right day you can even walk along the beach towards Bridlington via beautiful Fraisthorpe. We honestly couldn’t fault the cottage. We noticed a few previous reviews mentioning tiny things that were supposedly missing, but we found it extremely well equipped and think you’d have to be pretty picky to find fault! A fantastic little golden nugget in a brilliant location and somewhere we would happily return to. We understand the cottage may be for sale, so we really hope whoever buys it continues offering it as a holiday rental. Highly recommended from Paul, Alison and Boris the Boxer dog!

We had a lovely stay.

The property was very clean. Dogs aren’t allowed on the sofas or the beds, so we took a throw and put it on the settees as you can’t always stop the dogs from jumping on them. We would have preferred direct access to the garden from the property. You have to go through the door onto the open driveway then through a gate into the garden but we managed fine and thankfully the weather was good. To access the beach you walk through the caravan site which is about 10 minutes walk away. Just be careful with animals and small children near the cliff top - as you walk downhill the beach is easily accessible. We also popped into the caravan sites bar and used the onsite shop. However as we were leaving there is a cafe/restaurant/bar opening on the corner as you drive onto the road before the property, which sounds like it will be a perfect place to visit. We met the property owners who are really friendly and helpful. My husband had an issue with his car which meant he couldn’t leave on time until help arrived. The owners were great about it and even said he could use the facilities whilst he waited.

Definitely not dog friendly - literally rules when you walk in welcome to boot camp!

We love Horsea & go to the east every year if possible. This was not a holiday home for pets anyway. Constant noise going up & down the paddock, *No WiFi even though state Aug 2025 there was installation scheduled for then. * No logs or start wood for fire (this was sorted in the end after not being in place) * No dish washer - kitchen was newish & should have one really. * Top it all off when leaving owner claimed £250 due so called damages which I quote * crumbs on kitchen side * A mark in the fridge from the people before us * speck of dirt on the bed cover its

Dan’s Cottage is an immaculate , well equipped accomodation in a lovely quiet area .

The property is very comfortable & stylishly furnished . There are plenty of lovely places to visit & a lovely beach walk close to the accommodation . I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking to stay in this area .

The bed was so comfortable! The garden was as it says on the tin - secure. This was important to us because we have a very nervous reactive dog. The cottage was so clean..and everything provided to keep it that way..with a dog in the winter that was also important. Our host was very informative and friendly, we chatted with her about our dog before we arrived at the property. Plenty of room for his crate. We took blankets to protect the furniture because of the wet weather. We had a very relaxed stay..for us happy dog happy people there are great secure dog fields locally..Filey and north Bridlington . Kitchen is user friendly we cooked a roast. The cottage is set in a private drive with several similar properties so pretty quiet.

Immaculate, comfortable and well equipped.

Excellent situation for the beach, country walks the local shop and pub. The village is quaint and full of character. A historic church and village duck pond and a very good locally produced farm larder. Lots of very good places to visit near by. Well worth a stay.

We had a lovely stay in Dan's Holiday Cottage.

Although quite small, there is ample room for a couple and a dog and maybe if you have small children. It is immaculately clean and everything looks new. Everything you could possibly need is catered for and the property and garden is well maintained. There is no WiFi, but that isn't mentioned in the booking details anyway, so if that is important to you then that's something to think about. For us it wasn't a problem. There was a welcome pack when we arrived which was much appreciated. The village itself is small and quiet and the property is only minutes from the beach. There isn't a shop in the village but it's only a short car ride into Bridlington if you need a supermarket. There is also a bus service. There is a pub in the village but it wasn't open the whole week we were there. If you want a quiet holiday in this part of Yorkshire then Dan's Holiday Cottage is a good choice.

First time staying here, the cottage is very clean and nicely furnished and decorated, unfortunately it’s not exactly dog friendly like it says, dogs are not aloud on the furniture or beds or in certain bedrooms, if that is the case might as well just say no pets.

Could do with some fans in there as the heat was unbearable and couldn’t open the windows or you would end up with loads of flys inside. I get it doesn’t advertise WiFi but it is pretty pointless having smart tvs if you can’t use the smart features ie Netflix or prime.
