Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage, it was spotless and had all the amenities needed.

The only little downside if I was going to say anything is it’s a shame there’s not a little fenced off area if you have a dog, just so you can leave the door open and it’s secure for them. But I would highly recommend this cottage, it’s in a great area too. Loved it, many thanks Tracey

What a lovely place to stay .

It has everything you need inside . Beds comfy, sofas comfy , shower lovely. So dog friendly . Could do with some nice outdoor furniture to sit out and eat at . Lovely little village . The pub is closed in the village though

Got a lovely pub 5 minute walk away. The cottage was spotless and only a short drive to Bridlington and so many beautiful surrounding places like flamborough head. Will come back, big thanks to the Old Joiners owners.

Extremely clean, and very well presented, this cosy but highly functional cottage did not disappoint.

It is obvious that a great deal of care has been given to ensuring that the facilities and overall standard of comfort for guests is of a high quality. Of note for future guests is that the only local convenience stores at both Barmston and in Skipsea are only open when the adjoining Holiday camps are open. Thus in late Autumn and Winter they are closed full time - as they were when we visited. Also of note is that the local coastline is spectacular but also highly volatile - access to the beaches can be erratic and subject to change at very short notice. We had a very nice break though and would highly recommend this cottage for anyone visiting this highly interesting part of the coast - a decent dog friendly village pub as well. Harry and Wendy

Everything was just how we like it ,clean,comfortable, everything that you needed.

The cottage is decidedly roomy and was spotloss when we arrived (and when we left hopefully :) It is situated ideally for the area and also only a short walk to the sea but you will have to walk down some pathways that may not be too good for anyone with walking problems.

There was a nice welcome pack awaiting upon arrival which was a nice touch also. Overall we can highly recomend this cottage.

com which is nowhere near as nice as this one One thing i would like to point out though is when are people going to stop using COVID as an excuse to make you strip the beds etc before your departure , COVID was nearly 5 years ago and cottages should be serviced as they used to be .

Absolutely spotless cottage with all the facilities we needed.

A lot of thought has gone into the layout and it works well. The information pack was very good and had all the details we required. The local pub has unusual decor and serves excellent food. And finally the beach (sandy with areas of stones) is a 5 minute walk away with access from the cliffs so a little scrambling is required.

We loved our stay in The Old Joiners Shop,it was everything we hoped for,very comfortable and exceptionally clean.

Courtyard was extra large with plenty of room for parking.Seats provided outside for sunbathing or just relaxing.Local pub just a short walk away and also dog friendly.We loved our stay there and will definitely book up again .

The cottage had everything we needed and much more, it really was a home from home. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into making our stay at the property comfortable. The property was immaculately clean, all credit to the lovely lady we met when we left yesterday. If we are ever needing a property in the area again, we will definitely be re-booking :-)

The car parking area (for several vehicles) is more like a military parade ground and completely sterile.

At Barmston road end there is a real eyesore. There is a dumping ground for old shop/caravan equipment etc. This is spreading into the car park. The cottage itself was one of the cleanest we’ve been to.

A lovely clean and very well furnished property.

Everything is of high quality and the cottage has everthing you need. The Welcome Pack was a lovely touch, and it was very much appreciated after a very long journey from Suffolk ( a very welcome cup of tea and a biscuit). The cottage is ideally situated to explore the East coast of Yorkshire and Moors. Lots of lovely walks, especially with the beautiful coastline so close.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday in this cottage.

What can I say. It was absolutely immaculate. Every thing you could wish for was there., cleanliness was excellent. The welcome pack of biscuits,tea coffee and sugar satchels. There was even a bottle of milk in the fridge.A credit to the owners

The Old Joiners Shop, is perfect for a laid back break, The only drawback we encountered was that the chef at the local pub was ill and there was no replacement, hence no food.

So cooking in-house became a must as most other restaurants were miles away - well about 6 actually. Which meant the hubby (driver) couldn't drink, not really a hardship, but ........ The cottage itself was beautiful, comfortable and really well decorated. All the kitchen equipment was in good working order, apart from the kitchen bin which refused to operate - being battery driven we checked for the life remaining - all was fine - just a really stubborn bin. I think I would go down-market for a replacement. We didn't get to meet the owners as they were away, which was sad because we would have liked to have complimented them in person. The only drawback for us was that everywhere we wanted to go had to be by car, although the beach was near, I couldn't get there as my legs don't work too well - hubby (70) and daughter (well over 21) made the trip with our ever enthusiastic dog.

The cottage was very clean, and furnished with everything we needed, really appreciated the Smart TV when the weather wasn't so great!

The Old Joiners S hop was a real home from home, spot less and clean and even smelt fresh when you walked through the door .

The cottage was very clean and had everything needed for a relaxing holiday, a home from home.

Plenty of places to visit nearby and lots of good pubs in the area. Unfortunately while we were there, the nearby Italian restaurant was closed and the local village pub had no chef, haha, but we still enjoyed our weeks holiday and would return again.

we were dissapointed to find that there were no additional refuse sacks other than the two in the rubbish bin in the kitchen.

we bought extra ones.

We loved staying at the cottage - it was spotless, comfortable and had a lot of character.

You could tell that the owners take pride in looking after it. The village is an ideal location for exploring the area and the Black Bull pub serves great food and is only a few minutes walk away.

this was our third stay at the old joiners Shop and it will not be the last, we love the place.

So clean and welcoming when we arrived and the little welcome touches are always appreciated Lovely quiet location and close to the beach where we walk our dog. its perfect..

It was very clean and very well equipped too.

Cosy and warm and a great shower also. Close to the beach and walks into the countryside which I did most mornings looking for wildlife, deer and many bird varieties too. Would highly recommend this cottage very much, you won’t be disappointed one bit.

The owners Janet and Steve left a unexpected present for our 50th wedding anniversary which was really thoughtful of them and was greatly appreciated

Wonderful cottage well kept and spotless in a charming area close to Yorkshire cost al attractions, on a road but no heavy traffic noise.

A very comfortable and tastefully decorated cottage.

Our only moan was lack of amenities in Barmston itself though the Black Bull is a nice friendly pub and not been able to order a takeaway from Bridlington even for a charge. Not actually Sykes fault.

The cottage was as advertised, it was extremely clean and very comfy with everything we needed.

The area was just what we wanted - very quiet, some days we almost had the beach to ourselves. The walk down to the beach through fields was very pretty. We hope to return to this cottage and would highly recommend.

this holiday cottage is excellent, in a good location, walks to the beach very close, stunning sunsets while we was there across the fields, the property is larger than you think very well equipped, spotlessly clean, it is off a rd so there is some traffic noise but not enough to be considered noisy or a nuisance, we booked as it said 2 car parking spaces but then when I booked it said 1 , however there was room for our 2 cars so was fine, the wi-fi was patchy at times not enough to bother us it might bother some people as the one evening there was no wi-fi for hours so the netflix wasnt avaiable but we just went evening walking so again wasnt really a issue it certainly didnt impact on how much we enjoyed the place, it was very enjoyable we would not hesitate to recommend or re-visit at some point.

The cottage is absolutely superb the owners have gone the extra mile making available virtually every thing that you may possibly need during your stay.

They have put a lot of thought into ensuring the stay was a very pleasant experience cannot recommend this cottage enough 15/10. Thank you very much Neil & Janice & Molly she says thanks for the bowl of treats you left me. Also Sykes Cottages if this is the standards you work to we shall be booking with you again. And we shall be visiting this cottage again.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable and well equipped.

Lovely, quiet location. Unfortunately, the wifi is only sporadic and very slow - very frustrating and this has been mentioned numerous times in the visitors book. I do feel this should be pointed out in the description of the facilities, as had I realised this I would not have booked this property. I also felt that one hand towel and one average sized towel per person was not enough for a whole week - again this has been mentioned previously in the visitors book.

Quiet with a bit of passing traffic but nothing awful at all and very quiet during the night. Lovely owner who shared lots of information during our phone call. Good location with a good Italian restaurant very close by, check if the pub Black Bull have food as when we went they were not serving food in the evening. The owners of the cottage have thought of everything even a dog bowl and a couple of poo bags. Will definitely return

Just returned from a wonderful holiday.

The accommodation was spotless and very cosy. Well equipped throughout and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The location is fantastic for a quiet break and is a very short walk to a lovely beach.

I would thoroughly recommend this cottage, it was very cosy, spotlessly clean and well equipped.

Also it is ideally situated for exploring the area.

Everyone in and around the area was very friendly and welcoming, with a small shop and access to the beach through the caravan site five minutes walk away it provided the relaxing 'away from it all break' we needed.

Having read a negative review about this cottage I have to admit I was a little apprehensive!

My worries turned out to be completely unnecessary! And left me a little confused. I was expecting noise from the road which really thought I would notice as I live in a cul de sac, yes there was traffic but it wasn’t noticeable. The cottage is absolutely spotless, extremely well equipped, comfortable, superb location, quiet and relaxing. Janet & Steve you should be very proud of your little treasure If you’re looking for a nice relaxing break then this is the place to go, great walks right from the door the dog loved it, pub nearby which is dog friendly. Hope to come back one day!

Sorry to say it was like sleeping on the M1 noise wise.

1. Several mornings we had at 7 a.m. industrual waste bins being dragged out on stones and left outside our bedroom window smelling. 2. The bed wasnt really big enough or 2 people so husband slept in the bottom bunk which wa difficut to get to as the room was very small and narrow. 3. The shower was a small cubicle with electric shower which was too week with hardly any power. This mad it hard to get wet. Being it was so small it was awkward to bend to wash legs and feet as door would fly open and was very annoying. Being a disabled person a grab rail would have been required and helpful. The cottage was also right by the edge of the road that there was road noise near on all night and day. Also the heating would keep banging through the night so all in all a good nights sleep was very very difficult. Finally we left after 4 nghts and came home and as we where meant to go to another place had to cancelland loose more moeyas they could not accomodate us for the 3 nights we needed. So holiday completely mucked and and approx £500 loss. Now sitting at home £500 lighter. GGGGRRRRR. Very disappinted and angry.

The cottage was in very good condition and the location was even better than expected.

It is a small but cosy cottage. It has modern facilities like Wi-fi and a smart TV with access to Netflix, YouTube etc but also traditional board games, dominos etc.

We loved the log burner in the evenings. It is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable. The owners were very kind and helpful to us. Fabulous!

Exactly as described. The cottage was beautifully clean and tastefully decorated. The location was excellent and an easy drive to many interesting locations. We would definitely book this cottage again.

The cottage was very clean and well kitted out.

Lovely furniture and the lights are lovely. The only thing that let it down was the towels they were very poor quality and small. We only got one hand towel and had to ask for another.

Accomodation was faultless.

Spacious rooms, well furnished. Well equipped kitchen. Outdoor space was good as was the weather.

Fabulous little cottage nice quiet lovely walks along coastline ,pub 2 minutes away and Italian restaurant 5 min walk away although I didn’t use them it does say shop next door which was closed for the 3 days we where there, Cannot fault cleanliness of this cottage I’ve stayed in a few this was the best by far ,pets where allowed in this cottage although I didn’t find any trace of pets ,long fire was lovely my only niggle no toilet roll thought there would have been at least one ,I always take my own towels anyway but they where very nice and new ,well equipped and tv in cottage was bigger than I have had when I’ve stayed in other cottages What else can I say it’s very nice and did the trick I had taken my elderly parents for a 2 day break and they thought it was great

My Wife and I have been twice to another Cottage close to this one which was very nice but The Old Joiners Cottage far exceeded that and it was just Perfect in every way, we had to cut our holiday short by a couple of days due to the weather but enjoyed our stay non the less and would love to return in the future, many thanks to the friendly owners for providing such a clean, cosy, comfortable Cottage for our holiday, Mr Richard & Joan Clarke, Derby
