A charming, double-fronted cottage, with a log burner for cosy nights in, it's set on the outskirts of the picturesque and popular village of Sleights on the edge of the North Yorks Moors with lovely walks nearby and the coast and Whitby a five minute drive. A lovely cottage, very tastefully decorated, the charming village of Sleights has a very popular cafe and garden centre located on the river bank which is a two minute walk from the property. The village also has two inns, a bakers, traditional butchers, grocers, hairdressers, antiques emporium, church and a fish and chips shop plus a small railway station.

Amazing place to stay

Short train ride into Whitby. Salmon Leap which is a pub less than 5 minutes walk away is a lovely bar with a small menu and amazing home cooked food. This is our Second stay in this house over the years it is beautiful.

Ground Floor

The front entrance leads to a useful reception hall with wooden floors; the sitting room has a lovely wood burning stove – ideal for cosy evenings in the cooler months! – comfortable sofas and a TV/DVD player.

There is a separate dining room which is a wonderful spot to enjoy family meals and boasts a superb original decorative range. This leads to a stylish kitchen with quality, cream painted units, beech work tops, integrated dishwasher and fridge, electric oven and ceramic hob. There is a washing machine and freezer in the pantry and a ground floor shower room, WC and hand wash basin is convenient after a day on the beach.

First Floor

To the first floor is a twin bedroom with stunning views across the valley, two lovely carved wooden beds, a TV with built-in DVD player and an original cast iron fireplace.

This floor also has the master bedroom, which has a lovely brass bed, TV, large clothes closet, another cast iron fireplace and again, stunning views across the valley.

There is a smart shower room with an extra-large walk-in shower (no step up), WC and hand wash basin.

Second Floor

To the second floor is another spacious double bedroom with TV and an original fireplace, armchair, and superb views across the valley.

With on-street parking directly opposite, this lovely cottage is accessed through a full height wooden gate with high hedges for privacy; the front garden is paved and has a pink clematis around the door and flowers, Japanese maples and other shrubs – it’s a sun trap and lovely to sit and have a cup of tea in the morning, sun bathe or enjoy drinks in the evening.

Located on the outskirts of the village of Sleights there is a bakers, butchers/deli (renowned in the area as the best), post office, local convenience store, restaurants and 2 pubs which are all within easy walking distance and plenty of gastro pubs, fine dining only a short drive away. Whilst just under two miles away Whitby has ample additional facilities.

Arden House was a fantastic place to stay. Me and my family have been staying in local similar accommodation for years and we all agreed this was the best yet....the house was spacious, well layed out and had all your modern comforts...the village is amazing and has some local beauties such as Botham's bakery and some amazing dog walks...the accommodation had everything you could wish for and the welcome pack was superb....for a night out I'd recommend the bridge Inn in ruswarp which is only 1.5 miles away...great food and feel..we would highly recommend

Miss Prescott
We really enjoyed our stay at Arden house! It is a perfect quiet locality for exploring Whitby and the surroundings. The house had plenty of space for two families- 4 adults and 3 kids. It is spotlessly clean and decorated very nice with good sized rooms that are bigger than what they look like in photos. Thank you for a lovely stay!

COVID instructions posted liberally around property not followed through.e.g. Request to strip bed linen and place in plastic bags. But no bags provided!
Mr Wilby
Property was filthy. Had to get cleaners to come back on first day, but because I didn’t I ring for them to come back during our stay to do more inadequate cleaning Sykes and the property owner were not willing to offer compensation. I had to deep clean the house it had months of dirt in it. Unacceptable ‘4 star’ experience. Property full of clutter. Would not recommend to anyone. It also does not have a garden and the front patio is small (and had 5 cigarette butts on the floor ) and the gate opens straight onto a not really suitable for a family with children.
