    “Very disappointed with the cottage.”

    Feel no one has visited the cottage recently.So many obvious things need to be done. Blinds or nets needed at windows. Very basic clothes storage in front bedroom and back bedroom. Back bedroom very cramped. Stairs were a challenge. Pans in kitchen very dated. Bathroom no lock on door very high step in bath with no anti slip mat not great for older people. No cleaning products provided at all. Large radiator not working.Extractor fan in kitchen with a very greasy cord, would appear to designed ...

Large radiator not working.Extractor fan in kitchen with a very greasy cord, would appear to designed for a bathroom.We found the settees uncomfortable.Tv was difficult to use ,as it is an app only set we had to stream ITVX to a tablet to watch as no passwords were available. Rear porch does not have a weatherproof door. Not fair to guests cottage needs attention.

    Thanks so much for your feedback. All of our windows have blackout curtains so we will not be installing nets or blinds at this time. The room size and the stairs is not something we can change and the stairs are noted in the cottage description that it is not suitable for persons with mobility issues as we are aware that given the age of the cottage, it has steep stairs and some may find this tricky. The bedroom sizes are depicted in the property photos and I feel this is fairly represented. The pans are three years old and are of very high quality. This property is self catered so no cleaning products are provided as standard. The property is cleaned after each guest. The back door is a fully secured 5 point lock PVC door. The lean to at the rear is for coats and shoes only but fully waterproof with lighting and electricity. The bath is a standard height. Our TV has recently been replaced but if you had contacted us during your stay we would have happily helped as well as letting you know where the anti slip mat was located for the bathroom (just behind the sink usually). The towel rail in the bathroom has recently been replaced with the one by the toilet and the larger one is awaiting removal. Our contact information is given in a number of places but we didn’t hear from you during your stay. It would have been lovely to have been given the opportunity to help make your stay less disappointing. :) Property Owner

This charming, two bedroom cottage lies in the picturesque village of Scalby, North Yorkshire.

Boasting a real sense of character, Puffin Cottage is a quaint escape for two couples looking to experience the wonders of North Yorkshire, including the bustling town of Scarborough just a few miles away.

Allow the chef of the group to get acquainted in the kitchen, appointed with all the mod cons required for a short break, including a large range cooker with gas hob.

Spend your down time in the sitting room, featuring exposed beams and a woodburning stove, this is a lovely spot to reflect on the day's events and catch up on some TV.

Step outside to find the enclosed garden, complete with a set of tables and chairs with a barbecue area.

Venture upstairs to the bedrooms, offering two doubles serviced by a ground-floor bathroom, offering a choice of bath and shower over so you can best decide how to prepare for the day.

When you’re ready to explore, just a short walk away are two pubs, the Red Lion Inn and Blacksmith’s Arms Inn Cloughton, providing an ideal choice for when you don’t fancy cooking.

Head to Scarborough, where you’ll have an array of amenities to take advantage of, ranging from the Open-Air Theatre and the harbour, to local eateries and pubs; The Scarborough Flyer and The Green Room are popular choices.

Prepare a picnic and head to Peasholm Park, a wonderful spot to relax, explore the ruins of Scarborough Castle and delight at SEA LIFE Scarborough, which is ideal for a family day out.

There’s also the attractions of Pickering to explore, including Flamingo Land Resort, Pickering Castle, and Beck Isle Museum, and visitors can also enjoy a variety of shops and restaurants, as well as beautiful parks and gardens.
