Mr Burnett
The house was absolutely stunning and comfortable and we particularly loved the sea views from every room. Whilst it took some time for the underfloor heating to reach the upper floor, it was sufficiently warm after a day or so. We will certainly return and look forward to enjoying those wonderful views. The deck also provided a great place for morning coffee and evening drinks!
Mr Marsland
Everything was as described absolutely spotless views amazing only one small thing there was no cutlery we looked absolutely everywhere only one baby spoon one teaspoon and one dessert spoon no knives or forks.
Mrs Wright
Shore View exceeded expectations! A fantastic location, close to the beach but quiet and peaceful. Great facilities within the house and sea views from every room were such a treat. We sat out on the deck constantly and the car port it provided was a bonus. On street parking for the second car of our group was never a problem. A great holiday and would certainly stay here again.
Mrs Waters
The cottage was beautiful as was the setting. Wonderful and relaxing. Extremely well laid out and equipt.
Mr Percy
As you are aware we did discuss some reservations as to the overall cleanliness at Shore View and we did send along a series of images to validate the points made. Didn't particularly spoil the holiday but I feel it is important that both your company and more importantly the owners of the property are aware of the situation Basically surfaces above eye level and anywhere that there was a void at ground level had not been touched (and for some considerable time) Nice convenient location but the above cleaning issues did impact upon our enjoyment of the holiday. Kind Regards, Tony Airey
Mr Airey
Really enjoyable holiday, spacious and comfortable accommodation with wonderful sea views and perfect location in the heart of the village but set back from the road. Facilities excellent. Loved the window seat and balcony. The only minor issue was the cleanliness was a bit hit and miss e.g. the inside of the fridge didn't appeared to have been cleaned. However, appreciate it is a big property and all the bathrooms were spotless. Thank you.
Mrs Mercer
Parking was very difficult on the road. Yes, there Was a car port for one car but as the cottage slept six visitors, it is safe to assume the group will have two cars. We has problems on several occassions, certainly not the easy park you advocate. It would have been useful to have an area where washing could dry outdoors. The outside bin was 3/4 full on arrival and we struggled. An email to the office was unresponded to for 2 days and no solution offered.
Mrs Coker
The property is light and airy ,the views amazing. Twin bedroom is very small and the sofas are not comfortable . On leaving and stripping the beds we were surprised that there were no protectors on the mattress or pillows and some of the pillows were badly stained
Mrs Sowden
There is a general air of neglect outside the property with weeds growing up the steps. The listing says it is a newly renovated property but I think that must have been dated some time ago. The sofas are very low and uncomfortable. One dining chair is unsafe and needs re-gluing. The recycling bin was full to the brim when we arrived and very heavy to manoeuvre out onto the pavement. The binmen wouldn't empty it anyway. The oven was dirty. The master bathroom sink was blocked on arrival so I had to get Mr Muscle to unblock it. The area is lovely though.
Mr Huggins
A fabulous, well positioned and well appointed house. It was spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly want. An excellent bus service runs from the bottom of the road providing easy access into Whitby and ensuring that none of us had to worry about who was driving and therefore not drinking! As three couples, we had three cars and there was plenty of space to park outside of the house. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week.
Mrs Hebb
The property has been fitted out to a high standard, but unfortunately this was marred by the simple lack of someone checking it over to make sure all was in order before our arrival. To list some of the faults that we encountered: 1. on arrival, we found that 5 of the 8 downlighters in the kitchen had failed, meaning that I immediately had to go out and buy replacement bulbs so that we could see to eat. 2. the toilet seat in the master en-suite is loose, and slides to the side. 3. one shower had been left dripping, meaning that the bathmat (left in the shower) was soaking wet. 4. when I tried to dry the bathmat, I found that the tumble-dryer was not working because the condensed water tank was full and the fluff filter was blocked. So I had to spend precious holiday time carrying out basic maintenance on the dryer. 5. the gas fire does not work because the battery in the remote is flat, and it has no other controls. 6. one dining chair was missing. The replacement that was provided 2 days later was tatty and out of keeping with the property. 7. the towel rail radiators would appear to need bleeding, since they all have cold areas towards the top; also the one on the 1st floor drips at the valve. One point for the future safety of guests, especially the elderly or infirm, is that the shower bases are rather slippery. It would be a good idea to provide a non-slip finish and install grab handles. Also it would be a good idea if the bathroom vents had shutters, because the north wind whistles through them at present, making the bathrooms chilly. Finally, to describe the property as having a "small courtyard garden" is an exaggeration. It is merely a path about 1.5 metres long with a few flagstones at the side. No way can that be called a "garden"!
Mr Pettet
Having contacted you over two weeks prior to our stay to request a cot and highchair be ready for us at the cottage, and you emailing me to guarantee they would be there, we arrived on the Friday to no cot set up. Contacted you immediately but you didn’t get back to us until Saturday afternoon. Had I not prior arranged this it wouldn’t have been such an issue. The cottage could do with a deep clean, especially in the kitchen. The inside of the draws, oven and fridge were all pretty dirty with food left behind. One of the toilets was also left dirty. And lots of dead insects behind the shutters. The cottage is in a wonderful location, great views from all windows and the balcony. The beds and sofas very comfortable. Facilities inside the cottage provided were also great (hairdryers, beach chairs etc). Please update the instructions for the oven as they don’t seem to correspond with the cooker. Feel like on this occasion we were let down by Sykes customer service/housekeeping which was a shame.
