About the location

SANDEND

Portsoy 3 miles; Cullen 3 miles.

Sandend is a small historical village dating from the 1600’s and boasts a fabulous bay, golden sands and a harbour. Sandend is one of the smallest fishing villages on the north east coast, but due to its close proximity to the larger village of Portsoy and town of Cullen, means that it benefits from the excellent facilities nearby, whilst retaining a quieter and more peaceful ambience. Whilst there are no shops and pubs within Sandend itself, it does boast a fabulous smokery meaning there is no shortage of fresh fish, plus at the east end of Sandend Bay you can enjoy whisky sampling at Glenglassaugh Distillery. Sandend is perfectly located for visiting the many pretty fishing villages scattered along the north east coast, all of which have their own history and excellent local services. The area also offers opportunities for golfing, fishing, sailing, surfing, cycling, birdwatching and beach walking. Whatever the weather the scenery in this part of Scotland is stunning.
