The property

Chapel Cottage is an end-terrace cottage quietly tucked away in the centre of the coastal town of Filey, in North Yorkshire.

Offering excellent family accommodation, it is ideally placed for enjoying a traditional seaside holiday in this timeless resort.

With a lovely homely feel, there is a cosy sitting room, with a flame effect electric fire set in an attractive brick fireplace.

There is a separate dining room, also with a feature brick fireplace hosting an electric 'stove'.

This room leads into the modern galley-style kitchen which provides all facilities to prepare family meals, with a range of appliances on-hand.

On the first floor are two bedrooms and the family bathroom.

Chapel Cottage is a cosy place to relax of an evening, where you can enjoy a good book before enjoying a well-rested night's sleep.

Steep stairs lead up to the second floor, where there is a spacious double bedroom.

Outside, the enclosed rear garden is safe for both dogs and children, where you can sit and enjoy a morning coffee before heading off to view the local sights for the day.

A rare find in Filey is the private off-road gated parking, just a two-minute walk away.

A minutes' walk brings you into the hustle and bustle of this quaint, historic fishing town, with independent shops, tempting tea rooms and a handful of good restaurants.

The cobbled slope leads down to the charming promenade and the tiny coble landing, where you can visit the lifeboat station, indulge in candy floss or try your hand in the small amusement arcade.

The beautiful sweeping bay is every child's dream, with golden sands, shallow rock pools and pony rides on the beach.

One can walk for miles along this magnificent sandy beach or on the windswept cliffs, part of the Cleveland Way long distance trail.

If you do want to use the car, there lies a country park and and an animal sanctuary on the edge of Filey, or Bempton RSPB Reserve is well worth a visit to see the puffins and kittiwakes.

The larger seaside towns of Bridlington and Scarborough are just a few minutes' drive, with the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds just a little further.

A wonderful family holiday location.

About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Set in the magnificent Filey Bay, Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making it an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels and there is a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated and there are loads of family activities such as Alpamare UK waterpark, Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park and the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where all kinds of common and rare birdlife can be seen. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where you will find great beaches, a castle, the Rotunda Museum and the acclaimed Sea Life Centre. Other towns worth visiting close to Filey include Bridlington, Whitby, Hornsea and Saltburn, which all demonstrate the vibrancy of this picturesque North Yorkshire region.

Note: There are steep narrow stairs up to the 2nd floor.
