An excellent cottage with very good facilities in a fantastic location.

Very relaxing from the moment we arrived, no traffic noise just the birds. That said it is only a short and enjoyable walk to either Robin Hoods Bay or Ravenscar. There are plenty of walks from the cottage and Linda provides a comprehensive pack of information to help you identify local activities and places to eat. We look forward to our next visit.

Lovely cottage in a great location.

Really nice renovation, clean, tidy garden, very peaceful. The outside space gets the afternoon sun. Perfect size for 2 people, had everything we needed. The beach and YHA bar/restaurant at Boggle Hole is only a 2km walk. You can walk along the beach to Robin Hoods Bay and back on the coast path. The cottage is right next to the Cinder Track (disused rail line) so you could cycle (or run) all the way to Whitby or Scarborough (gravel/stone surface so no good for a road bike). You are also not far from the coastal path. The moor above the cottage offers more walking/running routes. The access road to the cottage is a very narrow single concrete track. If you are not confident reversing down this sort of track (when you meet a car) then this property may not be for you, however in a week we only met another car on it once. If you are taller than about 6'1" you are not going to fit under the rain head in the shower, so showering is a bit tedious. Those minor issues aside, would highly recommend this property.

We had an amazing time in Cottage Anton.

Beautifully presented and excellently equipped, the log burner made for some really cosy evenings. Brilliant location to walk to Robin Hoods Bay via the Cinder Track or Cleveland Way. Cottage is remote so lovely and peaceful and relaxing. Because of this, the track to get to the cottage is very narrow at times. I would struggle to drive down there but my boyfriend didn’t find this an issue. We loved our stay and would return.

Gorgeous cottage, located in the perfect location for lots of walking with our dog.

We only used the car once during our 4 night stay as straight onto the cinder path from the cottage. Owner sent us an information pack before we arrived with useful maps of walks. We also enjoyed relaxing by the log burner in the evenings. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a peaceful few days away.

Views are stunning and well placed to explore the surrounding area. The walk to Robin Hoods Bay was lovely. Our dog loved the area around the cottage. Linda met us as we arrived and was very helpful with local info etc.

Gorgeous gorgeous property, perfect to escape.

Lovely people who own it. The bed wasn't very comfortable but we are used to a larger bed and memory foam mattress so that's just different for us. Beautiful stay. Thank you. (Couldn't find the black bin anywhere, apologies for leaving bins out the front)

An excellent, peaceful and well maintained property with outstanding views across the countryside.

The property overlooks Robin Hoods Bay and is next to the Cinder Track (Old Scarborough to Whitby Railway Line) with great walks in either direction. The property has a well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and a great space to relax and enjoy a holiday. The owners were available on site to answer any questions and provided an Information Booklet prior to our visit so we were fully aware of the facilities available and walks in the area. This was without doubt one of the best cottage that we have ever stayed in and is highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic location, very rural, peaceful and quiet.

We loved the amount of walks you could do straight from your doorstep without needing the car - extremely close to the cinder track and cleveland way, with incredible coastal views! The house was cosy and comfortable, and very nicely furnished. It has lovely bi-fold doors and a cosy fire, and our dog was a particular fan of the cosy underfloor heating! We struggled a bit to use the oven, and would have loved the garden to be enclosed as this was complicated to navigate with our dog. Other than that, we had a fantastic holiday and feel very refreshed!

Great stay,really gets you from the rush of life and a 2 minute walk straight to the cinder trail.

We left on Thursday because the host was unable to address our problems. We were offered a refund if we left early but so far we have only received a partial refund. During our state, we had no hot water which made it very uncomfortable when we showered. In addition, the towel rail in the bathroom was not working. The bedding was awful with the pillows being thin and very lumpy meaning that my wife ended up with numb ears. The duvet wasn’t big enough for the bed. The underfloor heating was lovely and the property itself is absolutely beautiful. The problem was the plumbing. I believe the host did try to engage your plumber but was unsuccessful. It’s horrible when you’re in a property surrounded by snow and you cannot have a lovely hot shower and then dry with lovely warm towels. Sykes are aware of our dispute and we expect them to get the matter resolved.

This is a beautiful small cottage situated in a glorious setting with partial views out to sea across to Robin Hoods Bay from the kitchen and lovely moorland views from the main living area.

The cottage is well fitted out and provides opportunity for eating in if you don’t want to drive. There are wonderful walks from your door step and opportunities for exploring this beautiful area of North Yorkshire. The owners are very responsive to issues as and when they occur and communication was easy. It is worth noting that the cottage is isolated and the long drive from the main road is single lane with the last 900 metres being an extremely narrow bridle way with very few opportunities for passing. In wet weather the side verges are extremely soft making pulling off the road not an good option. Unless you are confident in rural reversing on a restricted road then this cottage may give you a problem especially in the busier summer months when there will be more visitors. If it wasn’t for the access to the property I would rec this without hesitation to anyone who loves the idea of rural isolation in comfort.

We enjoyed our long weekend and the owners were friendly. All the facilities you needed were at the cottage and the cottage is within walking distance to the beach.

We had a wonderful week staying in The Anton Cottage.

The cottage is small but packed with everything you need. It's beautifully kept and clean. Our dog loved it too and he was welcomed by the owners. Anton Cottage is perfectly placed for walking on the coast and the moors. We enjoyed our walks on the coastal paths and also vising Whitby , Staithes , Runswick Bay and Robins Hoods Bay by car. We would definitely book again.

This is a very comfortable and airy cottage.

There is plenty of room and lovely outlook. Both inside and outside the accommodation is very well maintained and a lot of effort has been put into giving guests a good experience. The owners are very helpful and friendly. Pointing out walks and unmarked footpaths that gave us additional walking experiences. Thank you.

Fantastic peacefull location. Perfect for walking and nature watching. We are totally smitten and will definitely be booking again.

This cottage is lovely, I cannot fault it at all, really cosy and everything you need is there, the owners are lovely too, nothing better than looking out the window and seeing the horses running in the field, the only slight problem is the road to the cottage it is a single track only and hardly any pulling in points, a bit tricky to get to.

We spent two weeks in this beautiful cottage whilst exploring the coast and the North Yorkshire Moors.

The cottage is far more spacious than we expected and was well equipped. It's location is very rural but has good Wifi. We were unable to get a phone signal (BT) in the cottage but were able to make calls further up the road. A bit inconvenient but this wouldn't stop us from staying again. Our dog was genuinely made to feel welcome and thoroughly enjoyed himself. His staff had fun too.

Beautiful cottage with everything you could wish for. Very cosy & perfect for your dog too - lots of doggy extras for your 4-legged friend. Brilliant for walks to Ravenscar, Robin Hood Bay and further afield to Whitby. Plenty of pubs to choose from locally or the kitchen has everything you need if you’re staying in. We would definitely return & have already recommended the cottage to friends & family.

Had an absolutely fabulous 2 week break at the beautiful Cottage Anton.

Stunning location surrounded with beautiful views/walks. The Cottage is tastefully decorated, spacious, well equipped and very cosy - especially with the log burner on! The road leading to it, is narrow/steep and not for the faint hearted, however, the directions are very accurate and well worth the steady drive down to find this hidden gem! Just perfect for us and our little dog (who settled very well) we had a lovely relaxing break (just what we needed to start the new year) and would definitely highly recommend. 5* Owners/Housekeeper very nice & accommodating!

Anyone larger than us would have difficulty getting round the shower door.!

We loved it as you can do such wonderful walks from the property. Owners were really friendly. Can absolutely recommend staying here if you want to get away from it all as it is pretty remote!

The cottage provides easy access to great walking.

It is beautifully situated although driving along the narrow track leading to it is not for the faint hearted. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped, although the leaking shower screen was in need of attention. The owners are welcoming and it can be recommended.

The bed was a little hard.

Not the most comfortable bed we've slept in if we are brutally honest, but we still loved it and would definitely return

Stunning location, rural and peaceful. Great for walking and cycling. At peace with the world. Storage for bicycles and plenty of space around the cottage. Cottage was well equipped and a high standard. Perhaps starting to age with little things like the shower door leaking. Highly recommend Ravenscar tea rooms, short drive or 2 mile walk away. Considering in all the literature mentions COVID deep cleaning, the cottage didn’t feel or visibly see the benefits of a deep clean. Rugs were grumpy and sofa was in need of a clean. Noting early departure of 9 am and removing bed linen and towels all before 9 am wasn’t relaxing.

The Cottage was just perfect for a week's break.

The location is excellent - we hardly used the car, just did lots of long and short walks straight from the door. The accommodation was comfortable and unfussy, in a good way, and had everything we needed. We would love to come again - to the same place.

This was our third visit to Cottage Anton and again we had a lovely holiday there.

The situation of the cottage is just stunning and even travelling the long road to get there is lovely. The owners Tom and Linda are so friendly and made us very welcome remembering us from our previous visits. We will definitely be booking again in the near future.

Lovely cosy cottage.

Excellent access to walks which meant we were there for four nights and didn't need to move the car. If you like a good stretch there are several good pubs you can walk to for food. Best take anything you need with you though as there are no shops nearby!

Absolutely amazing cottage, all prepared.

Instructions to get there were clear, but it really is very out of the way. This suited us but it is nowhere near a shop or a pub. If you book this place ensure you are prepared to drive. The walks from here are superb and there are lots of them. The views are incredible.

Lovely quiet bolthole of a cottage with excellent walks from the doorstep.

Owners extremely helpful and informative. Yes it is down a lengthy little lane, but well worth it when you get there. Take everything that you are likely to need as 'popping out for some milk' is not a simple task. If you want a quiet few days getaway from it all break, The Anton Cottage is perfect.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Anton Cottage where so much thought has been put into creating a perfect holiday retreat.

It was particularly cold on our arrival, so being met with wonderfully warm underfloor heating throughout the ground floor was a bonus for sure, as well as the beautiful red roses in the kitchen! We enjoyed the quiet location which was ideal for us and our collie dog. Walks from the door along the cinder track or along the lane leading upwards onto the moor. Stunning views all around. With plenty to do and see locally, as well as many good food pubs just a few minutes drive away, we will be returning soon!

A truly beautiful cottage in a wonderful location. We would highly recommend Cottage Anton for anyone looking for a romantic break away. The only thing we would mention is that we quickly ran out of logs for the log burner so would advise others to purchase some on route to the cottage. We would definitely book Cottage Anton again.

The cottage is wonderfully decorated and has everything you could possibly want. The owners were friendly but allowed us to just do our thing and I really did not want to go home at the end of the five nights. What a way to see 2020 in, would definitely return.

A very comfatable and pleasant cottage.

Set in a very scenic setting ideal for walkers. The road down to the cottage is quite narrow and I think this needs pointing out in the brochure as inexperienced drivers may find this a little scarey.

The cottage is set in a beautiful location with so many walks straight from your front door.

The owners very helpfully had left a few laminated walks to start you off exploring from day one. Whitby and Scarborough are both worth a visit. I fully recommend this cottage.

We had no idea what to expect as we had never booked a cottage before.

When we arrived we were overwhelmed with the cottage. The location was stunning. The cottage itself was immaculate and had everything in it that you could possibly need plus more. The set up of the cottage is lovely and very relaxing and everything was pure quality. The location was great, just on the Cinder Track so we could walk for miles with the dog, which we did (a big first for me). I cannot recommend this cottage enough and we will definitely be going back as soon as we can.

Very pleasant stay, lovely area but I would suggest that potential customers were alerted to the rather testing approach with regard to very steep and narrow approach with no passing places for long distances.

Fantastic Easter long weekend here, when the weather was very good.

The location was perfect for us, with walks from the door (15 mins to the beach and lots of cifftop options too) meaning that we really didn’t need our car once we’d arrived. It’s remoteness means that you do have to be organised with provisions (or have a bit of a drive), but the peaceful environment made that very worthwhile. Friendly owners were on hand as required and provided useful tips on walks etc. Very successful conversion - perfect for two plus our dog, but surprisingly spacious with a very sunny garden. Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic week at this cottage, it was in a beautiful location, walks from the door, the cottage had everything you could wish for and was of such a high quality.

Really peaceful cottage with views across to Robin Hood's Bay.

The cottage is really warm with log burning stove and underfloor heating. All the facilities you could want including fast internet and smart TV (for those rainy days). So many walks directly from the cottage that we only drove out twice in the week we were there. I would suggest anyone coming to bring some groceries as getting to the nearest supermarket takes some time. Perfect place to disconnect, I would recommend and hope to go back sometime soon.

This cottage was brilliant.

My wife and I stayed here over Christmas 2018 and we were delighted with the accommodation. Set in idyllic surroundings and with magnificent views over Robin Hoods Bay. A comfortable bed, good kitchen facilitates and a blazing log fire in the lounge made our holiday a memorable one. Top marks to the owners who came out promptly and sorted the underfloor heating in the bathroom. If you have a dog this place is doggy heaven with walks galore and the old Whitby-Scarborough Rail track just out side the garden gate. We will definitely rent this cottage again.

We booked this property over a year ago due to the popularity of it's location.

We had a wonderful weekend exploring the Yorkshire Dales and relaxing in front of the log fire. The holiday was made even more special when my boyfriend proposed on during the stay. Cottage Anton will always have fond memories and we will definitely be back!

This cottage is VERY remote.

After dark the last few miles is quite a demanding trip. Practise your reversing! Otherwise very satisfactory.

The pictures and description doesn’t do it justice so much time and effort must have gone into this cottage plus there’s so much to see in the surrounding area. I must thank the owners on the instructions on finding the cottage they were better than any sat nav we’ve used!! Thank you for a brilliant holiday.

You need to give information on how bad the road is getting to this cottage, the fact it’s so narrow, no passing places, one wrong move and you could badly damage your car, losing a wheel or the axle being damaged you certainly wouldn’t be able to get out if that happened and even worse if it was dark you’ve no chance!

The cottage it’s self is lovely but because it’s so far down a steep hill trying to get communication from the owner is shocking, one txt received from her asking if my email was right she said she would phone - no calls or emails from her I tried calling her but straight to messenger! I stayed less than an hour!!! Wasted my money on this place!!! We had to try and get up and out of that narrow, steep road that’s 2.5 miles away from a normal road to drive on before it turn dark!

It is one of the quietest places we've stayed. A beautiful cottage with beautiful surroundings. Walks from the doorstep.. couldn't have been better. The cottage is fantastic.. we will definitely stay there again.

Beautifully appointed cottage.

A lovely spot so much better than description and photos didn’t do it justice. Loved our time at Cottage Anton, a massive thank you to all! (My only suggestion would be to be prepared in the winter months have a shovel in the boot of car for gritting the road! As we are from Dorset our winter months are very different!) But that was not within the control of owners or Sykes and it was nothing compared to the lovely setting and care and attention to detail within the cottage. Once again thank you!

Wasn’t quite clear how far the cottage was off the main road.

It was on a single track and during winter weather (snow and ice) it might be difficult to access.

Beautifully renovated and decorated throughout, with excellent facilities. The log burner was a gorgeous feature and got lots of use during our winter break.

Everything we expected and more, the photo's didn't do the property justice and it was much bigger than we anticipated.

The location although very remote was fantastic for us! A great base for walking and a cosy bolt hole....would certainly consider booking this again.
