Shipswheel Cottage at Broadings Farm

It was our second time at Shipswheel cottage and we consider it a very good, roomy and well appointed cottage.

The bathroom was excellant, kitchen well equipped, the location really good. The downside was the tired settee, tv located too high on the wall, the outside picnic bench needs replacing with comfy chairs, and absolutely no contact from the owners on arrival or departure. Would we recommend it, absolutely.

Good location for use of park and ride into Whitby.

Accommodation comfortable and modern. Stables hotel within walking distance.

Our stay at the cottage was excellent very clean and comfortable as we have always had at Broadings farm.

The site’s is very clean as we have found over the years camping and Caravanning with them!

Lovely cottage and comfortable with all of what you need for self catering.

Only suggestion for improving would be a table and chairs for outside, as adults we found the bench seating not very comfortable and awkward to get legs across.,might also be worth having a umbrella shade as we were lucky with great weather but couldn’t sit comfortably in the garden. Possibly consider a fan for each bedroom,.during summer months . Really enjoyed our time in the cottage and would use again if in the area .

Great location.

Very spacious living/kitchen area which was ideal for a toddler.

Ample parking with gates to enclose the area. The owners have a presence on site at the reception for the caravan site which is useful. The start of the Cinder track is nearby and also the park and ride to Whitby is a. 2m drive.

We had an excellent stay at this property.

It was lovely and warm and cosy when we arrived on a cold winter’s day and the welcome pack was appreciated. Just one little gripe to mention; for a couple of weeks before we were due to arrive I tried to find out how big the freezer compartment is. Sykes could not help as they had no reply from the owner and I rang the telephone number I was given several times and got no answer. As it happens it didn’t make any difference but as we were staying over Christmas it could have made a difference to what we brought with us. Everything else in the cottage was lovely and we had a very enjoyable stay. Would definitely recommend and would stay again if our circumstances were right.

A beautiful cottage with nice surroundings and although a busy road nearby we heard nothing.

Very comfortable and if it hadn’t been for a couple of cleanliness problems we would have definitely given it five stars. We will go back.

Property very well appointed.

Any criticism would be of a minor nature such as Television set too high for comfort. Several of my friends found it difficult to achieve a comfortable seating position on the settee or arm chair. Set against the very high quality of the accommodation the items mentioned are, as previously mentioned of a minor nature

I booked Shipswheel Cottage for my parents.

They are Whitby born people who now live away. Priority here was easy parking and everything being on one level with easy access into Whitby. This ticked all the boxes. Perfect. They loved it.

Good location to explore North Yorkshire Moors and Coast.

Whitby Park and Ride close by, cheaper and easier than parking in town. Good showers, thick towels, owners quick to resolve any problems.

When we arrived the property was lovely and clean.

We found a few hairs on one of the single beds, other than that no issues. Nice and spacious, kitchen has everything you need. There is a little road noise but once inside with doors closed you don’t hear it.

In over 12 holiday visits to North Yorkshire this is to date the best accommodation I have experienced.

Crockery and cutlery could be improved both in terms of quality and quantity.

On hot nights the nearby road noise is a drawback. Overall the cottage met our needs.

Well equipped had every pan and utensil you would need.

Lovely outside space . And the best dog walking fields I have had the pleasure of walking my dog on. Breathtaking views. 20 shortcut to Whitby. The Stables bar and restaurant 10 min stroll.

Everything was quality. Very clean, bed comfortable , kitchen well equipped. Lovely bathrooms, couldn’t fault it. Private enclosed area for our 2 dogs. Very convenient to visit all the area. Would definitely book again. ,

Excellent stay, great cottage.

Lovely spacious accommodation, cosy and warm.Great outside space for dogs , safe to let them out so they can sit and enjoy the sunshine. Only 5 min drive to centre of Whitby Would love to stay there again

When we first arrived it looked small from the outside but omg when you opened the door it was absolutely perfect big beautiful I cannot recommend this enough so clean comfortable everything you need for me it was home from home we traveled all over our dogs have never been to the beach before and they loved it thank you to the owners you have a beautiful cottage the whole area is beautiful and everything is in ten to fifteen minutes away from you again thank you we will be coming back xxy

From the time we arrived at the cottage and walked into a wonderful warm open plan room, we felt at home.

The kitchen area was clean and spacious with a large fridge/freezer and plenty of working space. The bedrooms were very comfortable and everything was of high quality. Our dog was very happy with the space so we had a great time, especially as the cottage was so near Whitby. Thank you for making us so comfortable, we will be coming here again.

We will definitely come back, a beautiful pet friendly cottage, in a perfect location just outside of Whitby centre.

We like a clean environment even though we take our dog , and it certainly was, we loved it. Perfect area for our dog and children.

Lovely cottage with a dishwasher which is always a bonus.

We were very impressed with the standard of the cottage and the cleanliness. It was great that the back yard was fenced off meaning our dog could go outside. Plenty of space to walk your dog around the fields too. The location was great being close enough to the town to walk. We would definitely stay here again.

Loved the layout and the views were stunning. Everything was provided in the kitchen what was needed for a comfortable stay. Great area to walk your dog(s) as well.

The weather could have been a little kinder but the cottage was perfect

We could not fault the property, it was clean, there are plenty of glasses, cutlery and plates.

We like having two bathrooms, which are roomy. We could have done with another tray and bedside table in the double bedroom. The sofa and chairs are comfy. The property is in a great location for walkers and not too far from Whitby. We have stayed in Ships Wheel Cottage twice now. We will definitely stay there again.

An amazing week away for our baby's first holiday.

The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed, it really was a home from home. Plenty of space for our little family and dog. My obly criticisms would be, it wasn't 10/10 for cleanliness, the small shower head was incredibly mouldy, there was a pork scratching underneath the sofa (which our dog hunted out!) and under the master bed was very dusty. Everything else was very clean. The listing isn't clear as to whether there is a washing machine and different sites give conflicting information. I did check that there was a communal laundry due to having a small baby and needing to do plenty of washes, but to find one in the cottage was fantastic! The single beds roll around a lot on the castors, we didn't sleep in that room but if small children were to it could be quite dangerous. Thanks for a fab week!

A lovely warm and well-equipped cottage that is perfectly placed for exploring this wonderful area.

The owners were fantastic when we had a small issue during our stay and got it sorted ASAP. I would thoroughly recommend the cottage to others and I'm sure we'll be back.

It’s the not the first time that we’ve been to Brordings farm

From the moment we entered Shipswheel cottage at Broadings farm we felt comfortable.

It was very clean and tidy, with milk tea sugar and coffee left for that all important drink. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked and with plenty of space to safely walk the dog we can highly recommend Broadings Farm for your cottage holiday..

The cottage was well worth the money it was a lovely place the only down side was there were no sun chairs to sit in the sun as it was a real sun trap and all there is to sit on is an uncomfortable bench but overall we couldn’t fault it

Fabulous well appointed cottage beautifully decorated, great kitchen, comfy sofas.

The accommodation was first class and was everything we had hoped for.

The only aspect to be aware of is the location in regards to the beach. The cottage is approx 30-40 min walk to the beach, this aspect didn’t bother us in the slightest as we really enjoy walking. If we return to Whitby we will definitely use the cottages again

Beautiful cottage & location.

Just on the outskirts of Whitby, but walkable if the weather is good & you enjoy walking. Perhaps clearer signage to the rear cottages as a little confusing when first entering the site alongside the paths to the touring pitches. Stunning finish to the cottages & very well equipped. Would definitely recommend & stay again in future.

The cottage was lovely well situated well equipped there were two very small issues that on request were resolved immediately.

The information we had on the cottage was five star the staff we met at the reception were lovely. I will at some point visit Whitby again and if they will have me i now where i will be staying. Thank you for a great holiday. Peter

Our recent stay was to spend quality time together as a family for my 50th Birthday.

The cottage was amazing and surrounded by such beautiful views. Situated just a 25 minute walk from Whitby centre it was furnished lovely & modern and so clean. Totally comfortable & relaxing when arriving back after a busy day. Parking facilities were great. Overall we had a lovely stay and are thinking of coming back soon.

I was delighted with Shipswheel Cottage it was very comfortable all that was missing was a barbecue, Sunlounger and a parasol for the summer months.

The cottage was perfect, beautifully styled, clean, Cosy, with all the facilities we required.

We could stay here permanently. The outside space is also clean and secure, when the weather warms up. Be brilliant to sit out on the patio area, to eat and drink. The farm and surrounding land is lovely and well kept. The location of the site is perfect all round. We will be back again. Thank you.

We were just out of season so the place was of course quite.

But what a great location for getting into Whitby! Loved the Cottage everything you needed. Great fields to the rear for dog walks. Staff really helpful and friendly.

A very comfortable and spacious cottage in a compact package.

An enjoyable week at the Cottage however arriving after dark the Cottage could have been signed better as we needed to ask where it was at the site office! The cottage was very modern, clean and warm. No store cupboard essentials left in the property which was no issue for us as we always take everything needed, however this may catch some people unawares!! Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

We had the most amazing stay for our honeymoon.

The cottage was clean and cosy with the most beautiful scenery! The cottage is close by to a lot of beaches which the dogs loved! We had such a beautiful time, thank you so much.

Probably the best cottage we've stayed at!

The cottage was like new with high end appliances and very comfortable beds. The location is excellent for visiting other locations, and if you have a dog everything has been thought of to ensure the dog can also enjoy itself. All in all, a great experience.

Shipswheel cottage is a beautiful cosy modern home from home.

It has two en suite bedrooms that are finished to the highest standard. Would definitely rebook here if we are back in Whitby in the future and would highly recommend to friends and family

The cottage is in a perfect location, about 25 minutes walk/ 5 min drive into Whitby, so it was close but not really busy.

It is on a main road but we didn't find the road noise an issue. The photos on the website don't do the cottage justice- it is decorated to perfection inside, spotlessly clean (and I am picky when it comes to this) and is well equipped with comfy beds/ sofa and dishwasher, smart tv, washing machine etc. The garden area is dog friendly and is properly fenced in, our dog had a great holiday. The only suggestion would make would be some comfier furniture in the garden and some more basics eg. salt, oil, cleaning spray etc. We would love to stay here again!

What an amazing cottage!

It was absolutely beautiful with everything you might need for a wonderful holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Whitby and are definitely looking forward to returning in the future!

The cottage sleeps 4, but only had one tray.

Had plenty of cutlery, glasses etc. We could have done with another toilet roll. On the plus side, the cottage is well placed just outside of Whitby and only 20 minute walk into the town. We had a lovely stay and did plenty of walking in the area along the many public footpaths and coastal paths. Welcome pack was good. We had to ask how to get into Whitby and the reception lady gave us a map with instructions, it would have been better if the map was readily available in the cottage. We could have done with a TV in the bedroom, but managed without. Would recommend this cottage and definitely stay there again.

Lovely accommodation.

Newly build with wonderful showers, comfortable beds and underfloor heating. Close to Whitby and all the local attractions. We had a wonderful time at Ships Wheel. Highly recommended.
