“Very tired and dated, check in time was 5pm, we arrived at 5.”

10pm and still being cleaned. One bedroom unavailable as no mattress on bed. No fuel for log burner, brought later on first day. We have reported this to Sykes properties and there has been no response from the owners of the property which I find totally unprofessional. This is a statement on Sykes site ‘We pass on all our guests feedback to our owners and work closely with them in order to resolve any problems’ Sykes are yet to get a response from the owners of the property.

I apologise for the late response as I thought things were remedied on check in. and certainly never expected such negative feedback. The house was clean and ready when the guests arrived at 5.10. I was literally ready to leave with a few bits and pieces by the door. The Mattress had to be removed and replaced on the same day due to damage. we were unable to do this due to the turn around time restraint, we therefore gave the family full use of the apartment, which is normally booked out as a separate accommodation, the younger couple who were very pleasant were happy to accept this as an alternative, this however was not mentioned in the negative feedback. The logs for the fire were dropped off at 5.30 by my husband and given to a lovely young lad. It would have been more helpful to have put such comments in our comments book rather than a public page. We literally live 10 minutes away, and quite happy to come and remedy any issues. We didn't receive any calls. Property Owner

About the location

STAITHES

Whitby 10 miles.

The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. Staithes is still home to an RNLI lifeboat station and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) landing fish, crab and lobster, with boat trips for birdwatching, fishing and even whale watching available. It’s also the location of the popular BBC children’s TV series, Old Jack’s Boat. Staithes has a strong attraction for artists, with an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries and artists studios with art courses and workshops regularly on offer. There’s a free Illusion Trail, which guides visitors around the network of ginnels (alleyways), with trail guides available locally. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliff to the sea’s edge. Altogether a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.
