“Just spent a week at Raygill Cottage which was lovely.”

The cottage was very comfortable, clean.& well equipped.It's in an ideal location to visit all the attractions, & if you're an Emmerdale fan, Goathland is a must. There's a lovely tearoom & the cheese scones are 'to die for'. Lots of pretty villages & all in all a really.nice week.

“Raygill is a lovely property in an area that is great for exploring the North York Moors.”

Clean and welcoming, with a much appreciated bag of local goodies, the cottage was comfortable and easily large enough for our grown family of four. The garden was as described, a fab suntrap offering a peaceful spot. The local pub (Wilson Arms) was excellent both for food or for a late evening drink and the staff were always welcoming. Beacon Farm cafe was ideal for ice cream and sweet treats too. Raygill was an excellent base with a wealth of tourist spots in the local area; we were easily parked up in Whitby within ten minutes of leaving the cottage - the inclusion of the parking permit was appreciated too. Taking the monk's path to neighbouring Ruswarp (40 mins) was a lovely local walk where another great pub was enjoyed! I'm sure we will return to Raygill.

“My one and only criticism is with the WiFi.”

The WiFi extender in the hallway regularly loses the connection to the hub and so connection in the main bedroom is poor at best. This really is my only criticism. My wife, son and I have stayed three times now, for a week each time and absolutely love the cottage.

“Well maintained and spotlessly clean cottage.”

The shower is amazing! Comfy bed and comfy sofa. Hosts left some lovely tea and biscuits for us. There is a booklet full of information about the local area and places of interest.. even a bus timetable. Another great touch was the parking disk which comes in really handy. This was our second stay, we will definitely be back.. hopefully in the summer so we can enjoy the lovely garden. Thank you so much for a enjoyable stay. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This property was recommended to me by two of my friends who are regular visitors. We found it very comfortable and clean and everything you need is there and its also nice to have parking straight outside your door. We found it very handy for travelling to the nearby coast and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

“This is the nicest holiday cottage we have ever stayed in.”

Beautifully maintained and exceptionally comfortable. The only criticisms I could make (and I wouldn't really call them criticisms) is that the bed is a little soft for me, leading to a bit of a backache, and the smart TV is exceptionally slow on the online viewing. Neither of these things detract from the overall pleasure of staying here.

“Our experience of the cottage was very positive.”

Greatly appreciated the welcome pack & the treat for our dog. Well equipped kitchen, appliances easy to use. There is a decent size bathroom & shower which helped my elderly mother using it. The garden was ideal for us & the dog. The road is busy but we got used to it and it didn't affect our sleep. Just one little thing to point out, be careful when opening the front door as inside there is a step up which if you're not looking you could trip up on it. Also take a hairdryer as one might have been hidden somewhere but we couldn't find it. Nina & Sam though were very friendly, helpful who called round to help us with a query we had. A 5 minute walk from the cottage is Beacon farm tea rooms the ice cream & food is tasty. The Wilson arms opens at 6pm, its reasonably priced for drinks & meals. It is a really popular pub, dog friendly too. A trip to Goathland where heartbeat was filmed is a lovely place to visit, as well as Staithes. Ruswarp is the next village to Sneaton which you can hire boats to row on the river. the steam train goes past to. There is Jacksons the butchers their meats, pastries are gorgeous. We had drinks in Bridge Inn that opens during the day also dog friendly too. Pickering is well worth a visit, plenty of shops, cafes and a lovely fish n chip shop which the food was gorgeous. Definitely would recommend a stay at this lovely cottage.

“Lovely little cottage with plenty of room and a nice secure garden, which is a good sun trap and great for drying washing on fine days.”

Very well placed for exploring the area. Good parking spot outside the front door beyond a small gated forecourt, the gate was extra safety for the dog. Complimentary tea and biscuits welcomed us. Two televisions, but we only used one. Good freeview, but someone had added a PIN so we couldn't see the guide. There is wi-fi in the front part of the house but it's patchy and unstable. The booster routers seemed to be out of date. We could connect but there was no internet. 5G phone worked in the bedroom, on its own connection, but not the 4G phone or the 3G devices, so the mobile signal is poor the deeper into the house you go and the wi-fi non-existant. The bed, by the way, is very soft and we both came away with bad backs. We had to clean the kitchen before we could use it along with quite a few crocks that had been simply rinsed and put in the cupboards wet. Someone had previously spilled coffee or tea and it had gone under the counter and all over the fridge, and left. We had to wash the dining table too as it was sticky. Also, fake grass isn't particularly hygienic when there are dogs. It's on a working farm, so expect flies and take fly spray. One hand towel each, one bath towel each, and one tea towel between us for the week. As there were only two of us, we did pinch towels from the twin room. We were able to wash things, but only able to dry them when the weather was fine. Great washing machine. We had a nice, quiet, relaxing break and when we saw the neighbour, she was friendly enough.

“What a gem of a holiday cottage.”

From the outside it looks small but what a surprise when you go in - spacious but with a lovely cosy feeling. Lovely welcome - our dog was very impressed with his welcome pack. It had everything we needed and was very clean. The enclosed garden was fantastic and so safe for pets and children. The location was perfect for us, for going into Whitby or Sandsend and the local walks afforded fabulous views. Pub a hop and a skip away. We had a lovely stay and can’t wait to go back.

“This property is absolutely delightful.”

It looks small when you first see the front but it is like a TARDIS. It goes a long way back. Garden is very private and has artificial grass so, should you have rain, it dries very quickly. Pub just 5 minutes walk away serves excellent food, bit pricey but well worth it. Very short journey into the lovely town of Whitby. We loved our winter stay so much we booked a week in September while we were still there.

“Raygill Cottage (dog friendly) is in Sneaton on quite a busy 'B' road into Whitby but the owners have created a secure front space to ensure safety.”

The cottage's enclosed garden behind is quiet and totally secure for animals (and children!). Beautifully cared for, it made for a relaxing and comfortable holiday within easy reach of bustling Whitby (own transport necessary). A local 'honesty stall' in the village provides eggs, and vegetables straight from the local fields...delicious!

“Fantastic cottage which looks cute and quaint from outside but turns into a tardis went inside!”

It was a shame that the garden had been replaced with Astroturf but it was enjoyable sitting out at night with the sun on the patio until the early evening. The cottage is on a busy road but the bedrooms are at the back so there is no noise disturbance. The kitchen was not very well equipped with no baking trays for the oven and minimal crockery and a very noisy fridge but it was very clean and comfortable. It is in a fantastic location to explore the North Yorkshire coast and I would definitely recommend it to friends and family and would stay again if in the area.

“Lovely cottage in a great location ideal for a couple like us or with couple a children.”

The back garden is enclosed with AstroTurf which was absolutely brilliant for our young Border Collie to enjoy while I threw his ball to him for hours ! The guide booklet left for us was very informative so much so we did most of the walks recommend in it. There is a nice walk just a couple of miles up the road called Falling Foss round a forest with a outside tea room which we went to a number of times,. The pub 10 minutes away Wilson Arms was undergoing a bit of building work but thankfully was still open and the food was exceptional BUT it doesn't open until 6pm and make sure you check it is actually open (was shut on Monday when we were there frustratingly even though I'd checked in the afternoon!) Welcome pack nice touch with local biscuits, tea bags, milk and dog treats for us. Excellent holiday all round and will probably return in the future.

We had a few problems with the TV, signal strength variable, probably the weather and/or location but this did not effect our enjoyment of our holiday. Some good improvements were made to garden since our first visit - very neat and appropriate for adults, children and dogs. It is an ideal base for coast or inland visits.

It was clean and cosy; and the welcome milk, teabags, biscuits and doggie treats were a really kind sentiment to help us settle in after a long drive. Only draw back was the shower which runs out of hot water (literally) after 10 minutes which doesn’t help when you’re washing your hair; so had to wait for 5-10 mins for the hot water to kick in again!

Immaculately clean, well stocked kitchen with all the utensils, pots,pans crockery even down to clothes washing liquid. Couldn't fault this beautiful cottage. Ideal location as only 2 miles from the hubbub of Whitby - The Wilson Arms pub within walking distance and very good generous portion size meals - staff very friendly. Beaches fantastic and dogs are allowed on designated areas which was ideal for us. Loved Robin Hood Bay and Staithes - both unspoilt fishing villages. Runswick Bay also a lovely big beach dogs allowed too. Sandsend beach also brilliant as there is a cafe/toilets and it's very picturesque with the river running into the sea. Loads of walks to do. Absolutely stunning area with very friendly people wherever we went. Would thoroughly recommend Raygill without a doubt. Well done to the owners!

WiFi accessible throughout the majority of rooms. Location was absolutely perfect. Easy and quick access to different beaches. Beacon farm a short walk away - lovely ice cream and breakfasts. Owner on hand for any questions. Would thoroughly recommend.

“We were very grateful to receive the welcome biscuits and tea/milk on arrival.”

A lovely touch and were pleasantly surprised that the cottage had undergone lovely modifications to the bathroom and garden. The cottage was also a good size extending backwards . We were pleased that the owners had thought about the little details of importance like a washing machine, washing line, pegs etc… a godsend when we were travelling with a baby. The owner very thoughtfully provided a lovely high chair and a very comfortable travel cot. However, the cottage failed to meet the following expectations: We chose this cottage as it had WIFI however the WIFI was dreadful and we had to use out own data. This was disappointing. The beds were also slightly uncomfortable in that the sheets smelt musty. It did feel a little unclean unfortunately. Also all the beds have wooden ends that stick out (such an awful design) and we all received multiple bruises banging our legs into them. Other than that we enjoyed our stay. Would definitely come back if WIFI and beds were sorted. Thank you

So many positives to note: Much bigger than expected, thoughtful welcome pack, secure private garden which was a real sun trap, comfortable beds, great shower and welcoming hosts who were on hand to help if needed. The village is lovely - a great location well placed for exploring the coast or the moors and the local pub and dairy are well worth a visit! Comfortable, clean and well equipped. The owners left us a nice selection of biscuits, tea, and dog treats. Bathroom was modern and decent shower. No bath, but that was no problem for us. Slept well in the comfy bed. Perfect too for our dog, as the back garden area is completely dog secure, although he did seem very curious and puzzled with the artificial grass! Good pub just a short walk away serving tasty, reasonably priced pub grub & dog friendly too.

It was immaculately clean throughout. The owners left a welcome gift for us and our pooch including fresh milk, which was lovely. Very informative welcome pack and covid information for our stay. The property has had some updates since the pictures on the website, which only made our stay better, this was an updated bathroom (refitted to a high standard) and the garden had a makeover too. A perfect stay and we will be booking again to stay here. Sneaton is a lovely village and the pub serves lovely food and Beacon Farm is also worth a visit for their food and homemade ice creams too.

They even left some doggy treats for our dog :-) Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, perfect location, the cottage was immaculate, the bed is VERY comfortable. Our only criticism would be that had 4 people been staying in the cottage, the sofa wouldn’t really be big enough. As it was just 2 of us and our dog it was fine for us. A bath would be a bonus too after long cold walks on the beaches. However, we would definitely return and would highly recommend!

We took our small dog and the enclosed garden was much appreciated, all in all a very cosy holiday. The owner of the cottage was concerned about the car parking in a lay-by in front of the property, but I can honestly say that it wasn’t a problem. We would have no hesitation in returning to this property in the future.

“The cottage was welcoming and warm on arrival, extremely spacious, far more so than we expected.”

Beds very comfortable and a decent shower, but a huge condensation problem in the bathroom where the ceiling is rarely dry, we turned the heated towel rail up as much as we could, which helped a bit, but not a huge amount,some attention to cleaning the grouting would be worthwhile too. No cleaning products provided except one toilet roll and a half bottle of washing up liquid and amazingly no vacuum cleaner, just a mop/bucket/floor brush and a dust pan and brush. Whilst we state some negatives, we did like the cottage, but also feel it might benefit from some extra heating, especially at this time of the year as the temperature dropped outside, the lounge was cosy but the bedrooms/hall/bathroom very chilly.

“A lovely, well - equipped, little cottage, handily situated for Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Scarborough etc.”

It is on a quite busy road but the traffic subsides in the early evening and noise is not a problem. The small, enclosed rear garden is very private and unlike many, it really is enclosed, meaning it's quite safe to let your dog out without worrying if he will find an escape route. We didn't meet the owners but contact via text message was helpful and friendly. The Wilson Arms, a short walk along the lane opposite, is very welcoming and serves excellent meals.

Thank you. We were also blessed with good weather. Just to be picky, there were no parking vouchers as promised and the cereal bowls are too shallow to function properly as bowls. We appreciated the dog poo bags The door key safe did not work as described- there is no enter key- but we got in OK. Beacon Farm and the Wilsons Arms are both excellent local resources

“I will recommend this cottage to all my friends.”

My brother came over to me at the cottage he liked the cottage as well . Dog friendly as well my dog loved going for a walk on west cliff only 10. Minutes in the car .

“Lovely cottage.”

“Cottage was lovely in a quiet wee village .”

Cottage had storage heating and I have to say although heater turned up full my daughter was frozen in the double room . We had the dog with us and he loved the enclosed garden at the rear of the property .we had a lovely holiday in this comfortable wee cottage and would return

The property

This pretty, stone cottage lies in the sleepy village of Sneaton, just two miles from the popular seaside town of Whitby.

Well-maintained and thoroughly furnished, it is ideal for families wishing to enjoy the beautiful mix of moorland and coast, in a wonderful part of North Yorkshire.

Offering all ground floor accommodation, you enter into a cosy and welcoming sitting room, with an electric imitation woodburner for ambience and a dining area to the rear.

The modern, well-equipped kitchen is bright and cheerful, enabling you to cater for everyone, while the two attractive bedrooms and shower room are just along the hallway.

Outside a small, enclosed courtyard garden is a lovely suntrap - a peaceful spot to sit and relax with a glass of wine, after a busy day out exploring.

Conveniently situated, a five-minute walk along the lane brings you to the local pub serving food, a real bonus if you don't feel like cooking.

Also nearby, Beacon Farm Ice Cream Farm and Tea Rooms is sure to be a big hit with everyone!

The immediate area has a superb network of public footpaths, including the ancient monks trod, that led the monks to Whitby Abbey in days gone by.

Cyclists are also well catered for, with the surrounding challenging terrain.

Just a few minutes' drive brings you to Whitby, with its long sandy beaches, quaint streets, alleyways and cobbled market square.

The town has much to offer, with restaurants, tea rooms, museums, pretty gardens in Pannett Park and an historic harbour.

Climb the 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey or take a bracing cliff top walk along the Cleveland Way.

SNEATON

Whitby 3 miles; Scarborough 21 miles.

The small rural village of Sneaton lies in an elevated position, just less than 3 miles from Whitby, and 21 miles from Scarborough. Pretty stone cottages line the main street, and the local pub - a traditional inn, with a welcoming open fire and beamed ceilings - offers excellent local fayre. Close by is Beacon Farm, which produces wonderful ice cream and also has a tea room and a small shop. Sneaton is a wonderful location for walkers, and numerous public footpaths can be found around the village, notably the Monks Trod; an ancient stone path that monks followed to worship at Whitby Abbey. Down the road lies the village of Ruswarp which has a railway station, a friendly local pub.a grocery store and a renowned butcher's shop. Here visitors can go boating on the River Esk and also make use of the small golf course. The famous fishing port of Whitby is only a short drive away, with its cobbled streets and alleys, good beaches, excellent restaurants, and array of cafes. A must for any holidaymaker!
