Lovely accommodation in the heart of the village .

Clean, comfortable,plenty of room for 4 adults with everything that we needed. Great location for visiting the moors and coastal towns .

We had a comfortable week with plenty of places to visit . We would recommend this house but a word of warning to the elderly, the stairs are steep ! Ian and Linda

Lovely cottage in this small quiet Yorkshire town.

The property was clean and welcoming with coffee, tea, milk and even fresh cut flowers left for us on arrival. The location is ideal to explore the moors and treasures of the Yorkshire coast. Would we stay here again? Without a shadow of doubt.

Lovely cottage very modern with a original twist.

Thankyou for the little extras. Nothing to be negative about other than we were not sure how to use the microwave as was a little technical. Could possibly have a small manual of using appliances as we were only used to using electric cookers and simple other appliances. Sorry to be pedantic , it might have helped knowing that's all. Would definitely recommend the cottage. Could have happily moved in and lived there xx

A lovely cottage, well placed for exploring the North York Moors or Howardian Hills.

Enclosed wall garden was perfect for our dog, and felt almost Mediterranean in the summer weather! House was in great condition and well prepared for our visit. Parking was always available outside the house. Best to check local market days as it gets very busy in Kirkbymoorside and surrounding towns, but it makes for a good atmosphere and some fun shopping. We have already recommended the house to family and friends!

The steep stairs need to be mentioned in the listings.

- they were dangerous.The steps themselves do not provide enough tread for feet (even size 6). There is no carpet on the stairs and beware if you have a dog who doesn't cope with slippery floors - there is only one (grubby) rug downstairs. The stair hand rail between ground and first floor is not safe because the gap behind it is not large enough for your fingers. We only managed to park outside the house twice - the rest of the time the car was parked 150 metres away. The listing needs to mention parking can be tricky. The worktop around the kitchen sink was filthy with mould and the sink itself had seen better days. The trays in the bottom of the fridge were dirty. There were no duvets which didn't have duck feathers in them (incredibly cruel - vegans and vegetarians beware) so we bought a fibre-filled one and a fresh duvet cover from a nearby town. There was paint peeling off the walls in the hall. On discovering the gas meter was on the floor behind the television stand (instead of being safely inside a cupboard), we left a day early. It really was such a disappointing stay. If you would like photographs to confirm this feedback, please let us know. We've stayed in many cottages over the years (this was our first Sykes one) and this is the least dog friendly.

Absolutely fantastic property.

It has everything that you could possibly need in a holiday home. It’s clean, REALLY well equipped, beautiful garden, and no evidence of pet hair or pet damage. The flowers in the kitchen were a lovely touch. The property is an old cottage but beautifully presented. The photo in the hall of the cottage shows it was an old refreshments shop licensed to sell tobacco - seeing the history increased our love of the cottage. The owner was brilliant. We had to arrange this quickly as another cottage provider let us down when we arrived on holiday so we were stuck with nowhere to go. This property was available within hours of us finding it, and the owner even rang us to confirm everything, reassuring us even more. Local amenities - there is a co-op, Thomas the bakers, butchers, green grocers, Chinese take away, Indian take away, pizza take away, fish and chip shop all on the doorstep within a few minutes walking distance. There are lots of places to visit. North Yorkshire is really dog friendly. Definitely recommend the Ryedale folk museum and Helmsley. Scarborough, Whitby and Flamingo land are a short drive away. We loved our holiday :)

Hello This was by far the nicest holiday house we ever had.

The house is in a wonderfully quiet location in a really magical little place. There is everything in the house that you could possibly need and it is very tastefully decorated and everything is in perfect condition. There are very useful precise tips, what to do in the region. A small courtyard forms a very nice quiet outdoor area. We felt very comfortable here with our dog. Thank you for this beautiful experience

Owners have thought about everything you could need for a holiday from the welcome of milk,biscuits, tea, coffee and fresh flowers on arrival.

Great after a long journey. Only a few minutes walk to the shops. The cleanliness of the house was perfect which makes a huge difference. The only disadvantage was the steep stairs which were pointed out on the listing by the owners and we agree that they could be a problem for someone with mobility issues. Excellent amount of information about the area. Could not fault the whole set up.

Nice touches in the accommodation to make visitors feel welcome and cared for. Cottage is as stated with nice decoration. Details of where to eat and walks etc were invaluable. You can imagine what life was like there 100 years ago, but with the benefit of all mod-cons.

A great location and nice cottage.

The cottage had everything we needed. Settee and chairs in living room were smart and clean but a little uncomfortable, not for relaxing in. Kitchen great for the dog. It was a cool room and the walled garden ideal. Great help from Claire the housekeeper who helped get the TV working when we arrived. She called round within 30 minutes of us massaging her on Sunday tea time. Really appreciated her help. We would stay again.

Lovely well equipped cottage ….

good location in Kirbymoorside. Comfortable sitting room, lovely private garden, spacious bedrooms. Lots to do in the area. Lots of moorland walks over the heather…Close to the coast…Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby. Nice villages nearby..

We had a glorious week at Howe End.

The house is perfectly and thoughtfully equipped with all you could need- beautiful linens, top grade appliances, all the kitchen tools. The courtyard is a haven of peace and ideal for a coffee and a good book. Also the Wi-fi is rock solid! The location is ideal, we had days out at Castle Howard and Whitby and visited Ryedale and Helmsley with ease. This is such a beautiful and historically rich part if the world. We didn’t have time for everything! Our children and our dog all had a lovely time in the Yorkshire sun and Tina could not have been kinder or more helpful - providing us with great lists of local amenities, walls and food places! Throughly recommend and we would love to come back. Thank you so much.

Howe End Cottage is one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in, and one of the few we would return to.

The excellent communication with the owner began when she contacted us a week before with some details and continued throughout with almost instant responses to a couple of queries. The cottage, when we arrived, was spotlessly clean. Everything is of the highest quality from the beds and bedding through to the Denby crockery in the kitchen. Furthermore absolutely everything you might need is very generously supplied - including complimentary tea and coffee - as well as extra blankets, duvets etc. The location is excellent also as it is a couple of minutes walk from Kirkbymoorside's main square. It is obvious that a lot of care has gone into creating a holiday cottage that is as comfortable as any home. Highly recommended.

Howe End Cottage is a delightful place, extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need.

The garden is a lovely peaceful suntrap which we were fortunate enough to make good use of. The owner is very keen to help with information regarding walks in the area, best places to eat etc. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

It was very clean and extremely well stocked. A home from home! Nice private walled garden, a perfect sun trap if you get the weather. Hose in the garden very useful for washing down the dog after muddy walks.

Fabulous cottage in a beautiful location.

Lovely secluded walled garden which is very secure for dogs and a nice sun trap. The cottage is well equipped, nicely decorated and super clean. Situated in a lovely village with shops and pubs a couple of minutes walk away yet never difficult to find a parking spot on the road outside. Lovely walks direct from the front door or short drive to stunning scenery. Owners and housekeeper very helpful too. Hope to be back soon!

Highly recommend this property for excellent standards of comfort, cleanliness and facilities.

Charming cottage with many original features which also smelt divine. Quality bedding and linen made for a good nights sleep. Pretty and secure walled patio perfect for dogs. Great location for visiting attractions of north yorkshire. Kindly accommodated during the height of the season for a two night stay. The owner made direct contact to share details of the property and ideas to optimise our stay. Will return.

Local shops are well stocked, a butchers, three bakeries, news agents, gift and antique shops, fish and chip shop, hot food takeaways and the three pubs, all are within easy walking distance of Howe End Cottage.

Given previous experience, expectations were high!

Lovely week in a very nice cottage.

A lovely place, only a short drive to a lot of beautifull places.

We visited the downs and a view nice villages. Had lots of fun.

The cottage was fantastic and so well placed for going places.

Everywhere we wanted to go was under 40 minutes away. The cottage itself was so clean and well stocked. Plenty of towels and tbe beds were si confortable.

A dvd player in the property would have been nice.

A mention of how steep the stairs are would also be useful in the listing, whilst it did not affect us some, it could be a problem for some people. A well appointed cottage with excellent cleanliness. Good location for exploring North York moors and coast. Owner very nice and helpful when arranging key collection details, good recommendations on where to eat, enjoyed the Durham Ox at Cryke particularly.

Very well equipped little house.

Good size for a couple or possibly two couples. Living area small in relation to bedrooms which are very spacious. Kitchen had everything required including plenty cutlery and teaspoons. Location is excellent. Close to nice pubs and grocery shops and a little park . Lots of country walks nearby and close to other places worth visiting.

Beautifully situated next to shops, pubs, restaurants and a children’s park with lots of activities and plenty of walks.

The house was spacious and excellent for dogs loved it xx

The cottage is in a good location with the area having lots of historic buildings, and of course the beautiful scenery of the North Yorks Moors.

The cottage itself is well stocked with equipment and cleaning products, it really is a home from home.

Cottage is ideally placed to explore surrounding area.

Kirkbymoorside has all basic facilities you would need regardless of length of stay.People very friendly and many places dog friendly.

Very well equipped. Great location for days out. Says parking available outside, but in the week were there we never managed to park near the property.

Warm and extremely comfortable, great value for money. Ideal location for visiting all the great attractions of Yorkshire.

We had a fabulous holiday.

The cottage was cosy, clean & comfortable. The only criticism we had was parking the car. There were often no spaces to park on the street outside the cottage. Other than that it was perfect

Photographs were a wee bit misleading.

Made the rooms and garden look so much bigger.

This is a lovely cottage, set in a beautiful part of England.

Though close to the town centre, it's really quiet, with the lovely sound of church bells - listen out for the weekly practice on Tuesday evening. We enjoyed the peaceful courtyard garden and exploring the southern side of the North Yorkshire Moors.

Cottage was brilliant - really homely and had all we needed and more. Lots of nice touches. Kirkbymoorside was a good base to explore from as well as having plenty of nice shops, pubs and cafes in the town itself. We would book through Sykes again, for future breaks.

Totally enclosed rear garden ensuring both privacy and security for our small dog. Ideally located in a quiet rural setting / market town. Cottage had character. Telephone conversation with proprietor who was friendly and very helpful. Would recommend.

The booking of our cottage online was a little confusing as yourself (Sykes) and OwnersDirect was involved.

So one payment to Sykes and one payment to OwnersDirect - wasn't clear.

This is a very comfortable cottage in an excellent location.
