We enjoyed our second stay at this property.

Excellent location well equipped and an excellent welcome pack hope to return again another year.

Our stay was very enjoyable.

The house has everything that is required. The location is perfect a lovely walk along the river. York has so much to offer. I know our weather is very unpredictable we visited middle of June and we thought 13.5 tog duvet was a little too warm.

The house is great I loved it, it just suited me. Great to have the parking bay right outside the front door, bed very comfy I liked the walk in shower, good pressure, kitchen well equipped for a self catering stay easy to cook meals, but the best part for me was the little yard at the back, a real little sun trap, great to sit out in the afternoon with a glass after a day out. Location of the house could not be better, literally a five minute walk into the city centre. A pint in the beer garden at the Masons Arms around the corner from the house is a must on the way back from a day out, they also have an extensive breakfast, lunch and dinner menu,I had lunch there. I haven’t been to York before it is stunning the architecture is amazing, lots of places to eat and drink you are spoiled for choice, nice walks along the river too. As usual with a weeks break I didn’t manage to cram in everything I wanted to do, so a good excuse to come back and I will definitely be booking No 17 again.

We had a lovely week stay at Fewster Way.

The house was well maintained and it was lovely to be greeted with a welcome pack with a bottle of wine in the fridge too! Location was great and only a couple minutes away from the river and the city walls. Only improvement for us would be for a grab handle to be fitted to assist those with balance issues getting round the turn on the stairs. Look forward to hopefully staying again.

The location was excellent and surprisingly quiet considering it is fairly central. So convenient to have parking to allow for trips further afield too. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Thank you so much for the very generous welcome goodies. They were very much appreciated and enjoyed! Good location for the city centre and car parking on site was a bonus.

More than comfortable for the two of us and very well equipped. Having more information about what can be recycled apart from glass would have been useful. Disappointed that checkout time was early at 9.00am rather than the usual 10.00am at every other property we have stayed, particularly as the check in time was 4.00pm. Would however recommend and return when next in York.

We have stayed at 17 Fewster Way on many occasions.

It is a lovely little house- ideal for two people. It is about a 15 minute walk into the centre of York , and has it's own parking - a great benefit. We rarely need to use the car during our stay. The house is always spotlessly clean, and well equipped. The outdoor area is lovely in the warmer months. Many thanks to the owner for the generous welcome goodies. No doubt we shall be visiting again.

This is a great holiday property for people wanting to explore the many sights of York and the surrounding areas.

Only about 15 minutes walk to city centre.Welcome pack was a real surprise and much appreciated. The property is immaculate and well maintained.Private parking is a real bonus. There is a small garden area at the rear perfect for enjoying a relaxing break,unfortunately for us there was loud building work being carried out close by ,so we could only enjoy it in the evenings.This is a great property and I would fully recommend it to anyone visiting York.

A clean, comfortable and practical house in a very good position to explore York city centre.

We travelled by train and there was no need for a car. We would stay there again.

Excellent property, everything for York is within walking distance.

Number 7 park and ride stops at end of road so can go to station and designer outlets with out the need to move the car . Thank you I will book again as central for bit outside York as well

This was our second visit to Fewster Way and we really appreciate the basket of cakes and milk etc.

The property is well maintained and spotlessly clean with a lovely big comfy bed. It's ideally placed for getting into York centre which is about a 10 minute stroll away. Looking forward to visiting again.

Lovely house in a great location - no need to use the car as all York tourist attractions are walkable.

Kitchen is well equipped should you want to cook a meal. Lovely bathroom and plenty of wardrobe space in the bedrooms. Found the king size bed a bit too firm - we think it's a memory foam mattress and they aren't for everyone but as there was only the two of us we could switch to the double. We didn't use the outdoor space but can see that it is a lovely area and no doubt a suntrap where you could sit and enjoy a glass of wine or two on a summer's evening. Would definitely recommend Fewster Way as a fantastic base for holiday in lovely York.

There was everything you needed! The owner left us a complimentary pack, it just bowled us over that she could be so kind and generous. The house is in a perfect location, 2 mins from the city walls. We would recommend the house to anyone wishing to spend time in York. It's the best holiday let we have stayed in. It was perfect!!!

Perfectly situated for seeing all of York. 10 min walk to the Shambles, 15 min to York Minster. Found a lovely little Italian restaurant 2 min walk away.

Fantastic property!

The location is excellent. We didn't need to drive whilst in York because we could walk to everything. I had groceries delivered our first night and we cooked most meals at home. Last night was at the Mason Arms around the corner - wonderful pub. We only had one maintenance issue but the owners fixed it ASAP so our stay was great. Sykes did not provide good communication between us and the owner - which is why I rated the property a 10 but Sykes a 7. Two single beds in the second bedroom would make things easier for a family - but we knew there were two double beds when we booked.

Best appartment we ever had: clean, nicely furnished, the kitchen had everything you needed, some food to start - very generous and we appreciated it very much!

The fast Wifi was great. Thank you very much for the wonderful week we could spend in your house.

THE WELCOME PACK WAS FIRST CLASS AND VERY GENEROUS. HAVING A PRIVATE PARKING SPACE WAS A GREAT HELP IN CENTRAL YORK. I WILL CERTAINLY BE BACK WITHOUT ANY DOUBT.

We enjoyed a lovely week at Fewster Way we arrived to find a basket full of goodies which we really enjoyed.

The house is well situated close to the walls. The house itself is so clean with everything provided, would love to go again.

Really comfortable and extremely well equipped, bettter than any other Sykes Cottage property we have stayed in.

Only one drawback, the key for the front door was extremely difficult to ‘work’. Three or four attempts before entering or exiting property were usually necessary.

We had a very enjoyable stay in this comfortable, extremely clean property.

The kitchen is very well equipped and the lovely welcome basket was much appreciated. It is ideally situated, a few minutes walk to the river and just a short 5-10 minute stroll takes you right to the centre of York. The parking space at the property was a real plus. We popped to the local pub twice, The masons arms, a real old fashioned pub with a friendly welcome. I highly recommend 17 Fewster Way for a stay in York.

The car parking space was essential in the city. The cottage was in a very convenient position for all the amenities and we would be very happy to rent this cottage again on another visit.

The property has everything you need and is in a perfect position for walking into York. The weather was glorious towards the end of the week. Had a cuppa in the sun trap garden - couldn’t spend much time there as there is so much to see and do in York and the surrounding area.

Fabulously comfortable facilities within 10 minutes walk of the Shambles with good eateries nearby and local shopping a few minutes away.

Best welcome pack we have ever had and everything was provided that you would need to settle in immediately. The back garden is a real sun trap all day. Enjoyed it so much already booked again for later this year.

A super house with just a 10-15 minute walk into the town centre.

Very clean property with everything in (and a wonderful welcome basket - thank you). There are 2 pubs around the corner that do food and we chose the Mason's Arms which I'd highly recommend. So much to do and see and our few days included the York Dungeons, the Jorvik Viking Centre, Van Gogh Experience, Dick Turpin's Grave and Shambles (market), shopping and more. We also took a Tour Bus around the city. If we do come back and visit, we will definitely book here again.

Welcome pack marvelous, kitchen utensils spot on, a lovely comfortable feel to the place, and parking is a big bonus.

Great base for exploring York.

Comfortable house with very kind gifts on arrival. We think drainy smell was as a result of recent flooding. A couple of pans in need of replacement. We shared the details and our experience with a friend who has already booked for July! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated with quality furniture and bedding, and a kind welcome pack left for us. It is so close to the town centre that the car was parked outside for nearly all our time there. Will definitely visit again ☺️

Parking space is a massive bonus. Generous welcome pack plus lots of essentials in place for your arrival. At least 2 or 3 decent pubs with a 5 minute walk. City centre easily accessible from the house. Can’t wait to return.

I really cant rate this property high enough!

What an absolute gem! This property was absolutely perfect for our 7 day break in August. We were welcomed with a very generous welcome basket of fresh fruit, bread and treats. As well as milk and butter in the fridge. The property had lots of the essentials such as toilet rolls, soap, tinfoil, hairdryers etc. Which is so useful when you have travelled across country and you just want to get settled in! The parking place really was a great addition to our stay. Meaning that we didnt have to worry when we ventured out in the car, about getting a park on our return. The house was just spotless and really comfortable. The garden at the back of the property was a little suntrap, just lovely. As for getting into the city centre, it was a 7 minute walk along the riverside (just beautiful). Although you can walk in via the road if you wish. It was lovely to come back to the house after a busy day of exploring, the three of us were sad to leave at the end of the week. We will definitely be back! As lovers of York, I think we've found our new favorite place to stay! Thank you so much!

An excellent location with parking included.

However, the Wi-Fi did not work at all during the time we were there, despite attempts to reset as described in the owner’s book. The owner was away and unable to sort the problem. This might seem a small thing but it made looking for train timetables, opening times and other York attraction details difficult. And just to add - the loo seat is quite wobbly! The shower needs the sealant replacing as it is quite unsightly.

Lovely little town house a mere 2 minutes walk from the city walls.

The off road parking was fantastic. Also a 1 minute walk from the beautiful walks along the river. We have only one complaint- not a single chopping board in the kitchen- only a wooden breadboard. So we bought a set of chopping boards and left them there. Very generous welcome pack!! To the owner: please consider getting rid of the chairs in the bedrooms and putting in a chest of drawers so we have a surface to put things on. We swapped the chair for a table from the sitting room. Also, please could you put your bedroom mirrors on the walls, not the floors? I used the sitting room mirror or else I would have been bent double! Thank you for a lovely stay!

A surprise goody basket was left in the kitchen and milk in the fridge. Very comfortable and welcoming. We would highly recommend. Only a 10minute walk to city centre and a lovely riverside walk nearby.

We have stayed at 17 Fewster Way several times now.

It is always spotlessly clean. The owner kindly left some essentials in the fridge, which were greatly appreciated. The cottage has a pleasant outdoor sitting area, which we made good use of, though the paving would benefit from a good clean. The house is an easy 10 minute walk into the city centre, and has its own parking space right outside the front door. The Mason’s Arms is very close to the cottage, and is a great pub with good food. We look forward to our next visit.

A small but perfectly formed holiday house close to all that central York has to offer.

Very clean and comfortable with a lovely welcome pack. We enjoyed the Cava our first night as it was my partners birthday. Everything we needed was available but maybe some details on what to recycle and in which box would be helpful in the instruction book. It was great that there was parking but we only used the car a couple of times during our stay. Would recommend the hop on hop off bus tour, the stop was at the end of the road. When we arrived at Fewster Way the owners had kindley left a bottle of Presseco, milk, orange juice & cookies in the fridge for us & a vase with a beautiful bunch of roses on the dining room table.

The property was very clean & tidy with everything you may need. The beds were so extremely comfortable it was a wrench getting up some mornings. Please note that there is only parking for one car in front of the house with NO extra parking spaces anywhere near by as the on street parking is strictly for permit holders only. The property is so convenient for the city centre, being only a 10 minute walk. We would definitely stay here again.

A very clean, spacious and comfortable house.

Perfect location a few minutes walk from the centre of York. Minor problem with a blown bulb sorted quickly. Best welcome pack we have ever experienced.

We had a wonderful stay at this clean and tidy house.

As a family of 3 it was just the right size for us and the location was perfect, only a 10 minute walk in to town. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed from towels and toilet paper right through to washing up liquid and kitchen foil, even a few little welcome treats which were much appreciated! We would 100% recommend this accommodation and will definitely return again ourselves.

Short walk into town so was perfect for us. The added items left for us were a lovely touch and was great that the house had some basic essentials available such as foil, kitchen roll etc

A lovely, comfortable, well positioned, and equipped house, just outside the city walls and within walking distance of the Centre of York.

We hope to visit again as we have family not far away down the river. The only problem we encountered, was the lack of a grab rail in the shower, as my daughter who has a walking disability found it difficult to get in and out without assistance.

The cottage was clean and comfortable and only a 10 minute stroll from the city centre. Highlight of our stay was visiting York Castle Museum. Well worth a visit.

This was our fourth visit to this property, and once again we were not disappointed.

It is a lovely little house, very clean, and with a very pleasant outdoor sitting area( becoming in need of a little TLC). We do find that the TV. is rather small by today’s standard, but that is our only niggle. A big advantage of the property is its own off road parking space right outside the door! The house is within easy walking distance of the City, so we only needed the car when we went out for the day. We love York, and hopefully we’ll be back to 17, Fewster Way in the not too distant future.

This place was excellently located, clean, modern and very well equipped.

The space was well designed, enough hot water and heating and lots of lovely added touches such as toiletries and goodies left in the fridge. This is so close to the city centre and east to walk in talking 10 minutes at most. This is the third time we have booked with Sykes and have never been disappointed.

Very comfortable clean beds/bedding and towels. Owner had kindly left us some very generous welcome gifts (please pass our thanks to owner). Couldn’t have been in a better position for walking into the city centre, and the parking spot was a huge bonus.

Awful weather when we arrived but a warm house & welcoming to walk into. Parking outside was a bonus and as we were in York for a family wedding, my daughter joined us for one night and with a bit of careful manoeuvring we did manage to squash another car in. So appreciative of all the extras provided- wine, beers, biscuits, milk & more. All the basics such as washing up liquid, toilets rolls were also provided which was very thoughtful. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

The property has all that we require in a holiday let, ie, proximity to the city centre , safe parking and spotless, comfortable accommodation .

Great position on the edge of York so you could walk to all the many attractions. Good to have a small garden to enjoy the warm days. A real bonus was have off road parking directly outside the house. Thank you for the very generous welcome treats, a lovely surprise. A real gem. We will definitely return.

Great accommodation that provides everything you could need on holiday, with the superb addition of a wonderful welcome hamper.

The accommodation was well finished and exceptionally clean. It's position couldn't have been better for accessing York's attractions and restaurants and cafés, so the parking at the accommodation was a blessing. The furnished back garden was well used to enjoy a relaxing drink and plan the next days activity. The only slight blip to perfection was the handle on the cupboard door in the main bedroom which my wife walked into on a couple of occasions. Highly recommend and will definitely book again, thanks.

Lovely little house, probably the best equipped self catering accommodation we’ve stayed in!

Off street parking a huge bonus and we loved the garden. Bit unhappy that second bedroom had a small double bed rather than a full size double, if we’d been a party of four, this would have been a problem. Had difficulty with the key safe and ended up having to be let in by the neighbours so some more info re where to push/pull/squeeze would have be useful. We’d stay here again, very convenient location.

The cottage is spotlessly clean, modern, well equipped and comfortable. The parking space right outside the front door is a real bonus, and the close proximity to the city centre ( an easy 15 minute walk) meant that we only used the car once during our stay. The owner left some goodies in the fridge for us, and sent a welcoming e-mail. We had lovely weather for the whole of the week, so were able to take advantage of the pleasant outdoor area.

The house was clean, bright and airy.

The location was perfect. 10 minutes from centre of York. 7 minutes from Co-op & Tesco. We had two small niggles (which can happen in any home; including mine) that the owner sorted out quickly. The welcome pack was the best we have ever received in 11 years of self catering. The only draw back is there is only parking for one car (which is better than none).

When we arrived, the house had not been cleaned which was really disappointing.

There was no owner contact number so I rang Sykes, they were shocked and said they'd ring the owner. When Sykes rang me back a knock came on the door at the same time and it was housekeeping. They said they had been delayed and told we wouldn't be arriving until 4.15pm. We sat back in the car and 40 minutes later it was ready, spotlessly cleaned. The owner emailed me that evening apologising, said she had waited for them until 2.30pm when she had to go, she was told by housekeeping they would be there soon. She had not told them we wouldn't be arriving until 4.15pm at all and would be having words. Sykes did their best and sorted the problem well. Later the same day we found a purse in a drawer and reported it to Sykes, they said they would ring later with collection details, but they never did. I contacted the owner on our 2nd to last day telling her of it, she said she had been contacted by the owner of the purse and would collect if after we left to return it, but that housekeeping are told to check each drawer and cupboard. Skyes not ringing was poor when they said they would but at least the owner sorted it.

We had to clean the oven, crockery,cutlery , pans and dishwasher!

!! Andd when I got home, was accused by owner of taking the liquid handwash!!!! Reported the problems to Sykes, who have done nothing. Now in process through solicitor to get compensation

Lovely home - in a brilliant location to walk into the city centre, as well as to access key roads to go on day trips.

The off street parking was a great bonus - there is more than enough space to park comfortably. The welcome gifts and flowers were very appreciated, and a welcome touch after the journey. I'll look to return again in the future, hopefully next year.

Also many thanks for the lovely welcome pack, there was milk, orange juice and cava, croissants, pastries and tiffin - we felt very spoilt. The location was brilliant for walking into York. We enjoyed walking in to the centre of York along the river. The house was very clean and comfortable. There was a parking space directly in front of the house, a real boon in York. As well as exploring York there were lots of National Trust properties within easy reach to explore. There were practical touches too in the house, like hooks by the front door for coats, a hook on the back of the bathroom door for dressing gown and lots of hangers in the wardrobes.

Fantastic place, comfortable, clean, everything we needed and it only took 3 mins to walk to city walls.

This is a lovely wee cottage in a very good area with easy walking access to all York has to offer!

Thank you to the owner for the chocolates, roses, bottle of cava and milk left to welcome us- a lovely touch! Our 16 year old grandson loved the place and decided it would be just the sort of place he would like as a first home!! [He also loved the picture in the kitchen- so much so that he looked it up on line and is asking his mum if he can have it for Christmas!!] Guest book had vanished so we couldn't leave a more personal message but two points I would have made there would have been -1] please fix the loo door lock- it doesn't work and 2] why has the larger back bedroom got the smaller [ double] bed and the smaller front bedroom got the larger [kingsize] bed? Doesn't make sense to me - unless the larger bedroom should have had two single beds in it. Just a point! However, this didn't affect our holiday at all - lovely wee place and if we were coming to York again I'd certainly go for this place again.

A warm,cosy, well-equipped cottage within easy walking distance of the city centre.

It was spotlessly clean- this is more important than ever before. No complaints at all. The weather was very dry for our first few days, so we were able to use the pleasant outdoor area. I did my best to water the plants, but a watering can would have been really useful.

Very clean and Covid aware.

Cottage was modern and comfortable, perfect location for getting into central York with short 10-15 minute walk and on bus route if needed. Also for road links to go elsewhere. If you are self catering it is ideal, but also good variety of restaurants a short walk away. Lovely quiet private patio garden area. Decor modern and kitchen fully equipped with really nice appliances plus washing machine, dishwasher and big fridge freezer. Bathroom gorgeous with great walk in shower. Noisy from front bedroom. Good wake up call ! Only suggestion would be a nest of tables for front room. Only 1 side table so we had to bring patio table in. Lamps in front room need bulbs and pans scratched but only little niggles. Owners left lovely welcoming note with wine and chocolates. Much appreciated, would highly recommend and use again.

The upstairs was hot and so a fan and or a summer weight quilt would be good. The cottage was immaculate and well kept and in a superb location. We had a lovely time.

The house was beautifully decorated and fitted out and was spotlessly clean.

It was very handy for walking into the city centre and had some excellent restaurants nearby. (Particularly recommend Totos Italian). Welcome touches of flowers, milk, Cava and beer were very much appreciated. The only issue was the toilet door would not lock from the inside and there was no number to contact to have it rectified. We did not even attempt to contact Sykes about this due to our experience outlined below. However we are tempted not to book again due to the noise of guests returning to the Novotel up to 3.15 am which woke us up almost every night. We realise that is not in the control of the house owners but it did affect our stay. In terms of Sykes, we are disappointed in the service we received. We messaged via the website (as we could not get through by phone) to change the guests from 3 - 4 and to ask about additional parking. This was sent more than a week before our arrival date and we still have not received a reply and we left yesterday. We organised our own additional parking as we know that area of York well but if we had been first time visitors, we would have struggled. In summary, excellent property with lovely welcome touches, but feel let down by Sykes.

We were extremely disappointed with the cleanliness of this cottage.

When we arrived at the cottage it hadn't been cleaned from the previous guests, bearing in mind, the previous guests vacated on the 13th March, we arrived on 14th March. Dirty towels, dirty shower, beds as if someone had just got up, kitchen floor messy, untidy sofas. On the plus side, someone had been in and left milk, orange juice, butter, jam, and cake.

The property was equipped with everything needed and was spotlessly clean, being located so close to the centre of York meant the car was not needed, we would definitely stay again.

The shower was excellent however it was slippy even using the shower mat.

A hand rail needs installing especially for elderly users.

In terms of locality, this house was in the perfect place to allow us quick and easy transit into the city centre by foot.

With excellent parking facilities, I couldn't have wished for a better location . The property offered i would not hesitate to say, the cleanest and most comfortable accommodation I have so far experienced, they had skimped on nothing. Everything I could have wanted was on hand and the bathroom shower was exceptional. The owners left us a welcome pack far beyond what I would have anticipated which was a fabulous way to start our new year celebrations.

Very close to city centre in a very quiet street so it was perfect for a restful break. We loved the uncluttered, light airiness of the house yet had everything we needed. Well equipped kitchen. Beautiful bathroom. Loved the decor throughout, including the Christmas touches on the hearth. Extremely generous welcome pack was very much appreciated. Fantastic base for exploring York and relaxing in afterwards. A home from home that we would be happy to return to.

This is the second time we’ve visited - it’s in a great location for a short walk into York.

Everything was as clean & tidy as the first time. The owners go above & beyond in presentation & cleanliness, and the welcome gifts were most appreciated.

fi here, and a great television , with lots of channels new to me ! Dishwasher worked a treat, and very quietly too. Heating nice and warm and easily adjusted . Only negative was the key box which was tricky to open, and then the front door and back door locks were hard to open / use . the knack of these is to push EXTREMELY hard upwards, and farther than you think, and then they open ! ps Fairy lights around the garden were a nice touch , and cheerful.

The overall cleanliness was excellent but was let down when we stripped the beds prior to departure and saw that the mattress cover was stained with urine.

Excellent location and the welcome pack exceeded expectations. Overall an enjoyable stay.
