The garden was properly enclosed so our dog could enjoy it safely. The cottage was clean and well furnished and equipped for two people. Some more crockery, cutlery etc would be helpful if more than two people staying. The beds were comfy and the shower was super powerful. It is an end terrace cottage so you are in close proximity to neighbours when in the garden though this didn’t cause us any issues. Some more crockery, cutlery etc would be helpful if more than two people staying. The beds were comfy and the shower was super powerful. It is an end terrace cottage so you are in close proximity to neighbours when in the garden though this didn’t cause us any issues. The cottage is on the main road through the village and the traffic can be noisy especially when few stick to the 30mph speed limit but we only noticed this when in the lounge during the daytime which wasn’t very often. The village is lovely with loads of walks to choose from straight from the door. It is well located for visiting other parts of East Yorkshire. The Star Inn in the village is dog and people friendly and the food and ambiance are great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Fern Cottage and would recommend it highly.

There are ducks and wildlife crossing from the village pond. Despite signs telling motorists to slow down, unfortunately (and sadly for the ducks) a minority abuse the quiet country roads.
