“We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the cottage.”

Several areas, particularly the bathroom, were not cleaned to a satisfactory standard, and the property would have benefited from a thorough clean. The layout was very compact and, in our view, best suited to no more than two people if comfort is important. The stairs were extremely steep, more like a sturdy loft ladder with a bannister, which made moving around the property awkward, especially at night. The decking area and furniture would have been pleasant in better condition, but they were covered in mildew and bird droppings. We also found that the door from the twin room out to the decking had been left unlocked when we arrived. We contacted Sykes during our stay, but did not receive a response that resolved the issue at the time. They have responded after our return. On a positive note, the property is in a good location, within a short walk of North Bay beach and convenient for getting around the Scarborough area. If the property were properly cleaned and you do not mind a very compact space, it could still be suitable for a short stay
