Debbie “We had an amazing stay at Mayville, a beautiful property.”
We were 6 adults and 6 children. Lovely comfy 1st floor lounge for us all to socialise, all very clean and cosy. A very well equipped kitchen, plenty of everything you needed. A Tesco and takeaway right on the doorstep and central for all Scarborough has to offer. We would certainly love to stay here again. Perfect little break away. Thank you Mayville ❤️

Ian “Great property for a family get-together, central location and plenty of room.”
Only downside would be for people with mobility issues due to the amount of stairs
- Ian, February 2024Josephine “Mayville is a spacious unspoiled Edwardian house, all the rooms are large and comfortable.”
There were eight of us and all have enjoyed our stay there. Everything you could need and all good quality, it was all very clean, we had no complaints. A lovely house in a good location.
- Josephine, August 2023Steven “Enjoyed our stay very much !”
Very nice house plenty of room.
- Steven, March 2023Thank you for your lovely feedback. We're pleased you enjoyed your stay/ Property Owner
Kathleen “Oven gloves would have been useful.”
All homes I have rented always have them. On advert it said 3 rooms with double beds but only two.
- Kathleen, December 2022Cheryl & David “This is basic practical accommodation in the centre of Scarborough.”
We felt relaxed with young children and dogs. The Wi-Fi is a issue as the router is in the house next door.
- Cheryl & David, July 2022Sarah “We booked this property at short notice and checked reviews which were all ...”
We booked this property at short notice and checked reviews which were all positive I can’t complain about anything really except the heating wasn’t working properly For someone that feels the cold this could have been a major issue as the ground floor (kitchen and large dining room) were cold If the oven was used in the kitchen and radiator on it was cosy sadly the heating system downstairs was not being consistent and the radiators kept going off The plumber came round the next day and things were improved but the heating did not go off at 10pm as planned so upstairs was warm the second night The house is very large with high ceilings downstairs can be very cold if you want to use the large dining room Everything else was great, comfortable beds, great showers and baths with lots of space You just need to get used to going up and down stairs The location was great for accessing town you just need to be prepared to not have on site parking which could could be a problem in the high season We had a very enjoyable stay apart from the cold ground floor which was sorted quickly by the owner
- Sarah, February 2022Rachel “Mayville House is an excellent base for exploring Scarborough and the surrounding area.”
There was plenty of room for two families with four teens between us. The house was clean, tastefully furnished and well laid out. It was good to have enough space for everyone in the living room and dining room (should we so desire) and bathrooms on every floor (excluding the very top floor). The house is very well equipped with everything you might need, and more than enough crockery and cutlery to accommodate 8 of us. Our only criticism, as with most holiday accommodation, is that the kitchen knives were blunt and therefore pretty useless, but since we did little cooking it wasn’t too much of a problem. Although parking initially seemed difficult, it was actually very easy to do with the tickets left by the owner. With the town, beach and castle only a short walk away, we didn’t use the car at all on several days. There was confusion about how to obtain the keys which were not in the safe when we arrived so we had to call the key holder, who very helpfully met us at the property. These instructions need to be made clearer. If you’re looking for a peaceful location in the best part of town, this property probably isn’t for you, but if you’re after large accommodation in a really convenient location for the town and beaches, then Mayville fits the bill perfectly.
- Rachel, May 2021Michelle “We arrived at mayville house and was met by the owners brother very friendly guy.”
The house was really nice warm and clean had everything we could ask for and more. Really good location for the town centre and down to the front in Scarborough plenty if local amenities at hand . Would consider staying there again if me and my slimming world friends decide to go to Scarborough again.
- Michelle, October 2019Kelly “The house had been upgraded to a high standard.”
The were 11 people staying and we found the house very comfortable for all. Conveniently placed.
- Kelly, October 2019Sarah “The owner spent some time showing us around and explained the facilities to us.”
It was very useful to have a parking permit which allowed us to park in the immediate vicinity. We had one per family. The location was fantastic and only a few minutes walk into town. We loved the lounge area as it was the centre point of the house, lots of places to sit and play games or watch the huge television. Various bathrooms to chose from and all very clean.
- Sarah, August 2019Joanne “The property was not as clean as it could have been.”
When we arrived there were 2 large bags of clean linen in the hallway and a wooden laundry bin in a bathroom full of dirty towels, the washer had a pair of knickers in!! The fridge leaked constantly and an upstairs metal bed was broken and someone cut their arm on it and someone else caught their dress on it and it ripped. When we arrived the front garden was really untidy and scruffy but after a couple of days someone did arrive to tidy it but the back garden was unsuitable for anything!! When we arrived the bins had not been emptied and so with 11 people for a week we had nowhere to put the rubbish or recycling, the outside back garden was described by yourselves as garden/patio enclosed with furniture but this was not the case, it was high with weeds, a broken coal bunker, a rusty patio set and 2 over flowing bins. This property is listed by yourselves as 4 star and it certainly is not.
- Joanne, August 2019Teresa “The house was large enough to accomodate a family reunion 7 adults 2 children and a baby.”
It is ideally positioned for both Scarborough shopping centre and the sea front. We will certainly be booking again.
- Teresa, July 2019Terri “This property had everything you needed, it was beautifully decorated and very spacious!”
Suited our needs perfectly. I had the chance to meet the owner and he was more than helpful. I was unfortunate enough to be on the top floor of the property and it was a bit of a hike to get to bed but it did mean I definitely got my steps in for the day and had the best views right over to the castle! There was three bathrooms so none of we’re waiting to use them. Overall an amazing stay!!!
- Terri, May 2019Philippa “Family booking to celebrate a birthday.”
Loved the location of the house, would definitely stop again. A God time was had by all
- Philippa, February 2019Glyn “Good location, very suitable for a family gathering.”
Good communication with landlords. Parking availability was hit and miss and and despite adequate permits being provided one vehicle was parked in local multi storey.
- Glyn, December 2018Linda “The house is very central, only 10 minutes walk away from town centre.”
Tesco Express across the road is a real bonus, no need to take your groceries you can stock up when you get there. Would definitely recommend it, Landlord very friendly and helpful, had a great time.
- Linda, November 2018Dawn “I think the star rating of 4 was too high.”
I would rate this at a 3. The beds in the top floor are extremely uncomfortable and the floors very dirty and stained in places.
- Dawn, October 2018Damian “Everything was easy, easy to pay, no hassle, always contactable and Mayville house was exceptional.”
I took a party of 12 on a stag do, loads of room very clean and comfortable, would definatly recomend this property.
- Damian, September 2018Simon “First, everyone was lovely about the extra person, which we hugely appreciated.”
Secondly, the owners were delightful and it was a pleasure to meet Stewart, who was incredibly helpful and friendly. We were very impressed with the property, which was spotless. Apart from a dining room chair which needs mending, and a shower-head that slipped, everything worked really well. But these are minor issues next to the brilliant fridge freezer, the huge dining room table and the great bedrooms. It was hot when we arrived but opening the windows aired the house out very quickly. The parking was easily sorted and no one (4 cars!) was more than 3 minutes walk away. We thought the house was well placed and it was a short and interesting stroll to either beach. We would definitely come back. The whole exercise could not have been easier.
- Simon, July 2018Frank “The house was clean, very well appointed and in an excellent central location.”
- Frank, May 2018Dawn “Brilliant place to spend quality time with family House was clean and spacious enough to have your own space.”
Stuart was very patient and polite when we got lost. Thank you very much.
- Dawn, April 2018Jane “Excellent property in very convenient position.”
Slight downside in that it was on police/fire/ambulance route but children found it exciting ! House was so big and comfortable and spotlessly clean. Will certainly recommend it.
- Jane, October 2017Alison “We had a fab time, the sofas & beds are really comfy, the bathrooms were lovely clean and spacious too.”
Dog friendly, I loved the decor and artwork in all the rooms - nice touch! View from the top window is great.
- Alison, March 2017Jeanette “We had a wonderful family get together at Mayville House in December.”
The house was lovely and warm all the time and we had everything we could think of. Thanks for a great time.
- Jeanette, December 2016Pamela “Very satisfied with Mayville!”
The landlord was extremely friendly and helpful, going above and beyond the call of duty! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mayville to my friends and would love to stay again, myself.
- Pamela, October 2016Kathryn “This property is fab for a large party.”
We stayed here during October half term holiday 2016. The property is large enough for three families to rattle around in. Plenty of bathroom facilities. We had a couple of requests that were very quickly dealt with - We had a problem with the TV and contacted one of the landlords. He came round within 20 minutes. He needed to replace the viewbox. This was done the following day as soon as the shops opened. We also asked for more glasses these were provided within hours too. Nothing was too much trouble. My only criticisms would be the fact that all bedrooms had a TV in apart from one. When you're part of a large group and every other family has a TV, it would be nice to have the same. For the cost of a TV nowadays this should be provided as there is a powerpoint and aerial socket ready. Also the second dishwasher was not working and the washing machine leaked. The property owners were aware of this and we're looking into it. Location was fab as the property is central to all locations. This was a perfect group holiday. We would definitely consider returning. Thank you.
- Kathryn, October 2016Jean “The central location handy for shops, attractions and beach.”
We enjoyed the spacious rooms with TV in every room, kids had a ball. Many thanks.
- Jean, October 2016Eileen “We felt the property needed a tumble drier.”
There was room for one in the utility room as there was a second dishwasher in there which did not work. On the day before we left the property we had very heavy rain in the afternoon whilst we were out and a long walk back to the accommodation. All 12 of us were soaked to the skin when we got back and there was no where to hang our soaking wet clothes, a tumble drier would have been a big help especially as there wasn't any coat hooks anywhere in the property. If this had been the first day of our holiday or the weather wet all week we would have had big problems with drying clothing. The facilities to hang clothes outside were poor and of course only possible in dry weather.
- Eileen, August 2016Neil “An excellent property in a near perfect location, would definitely stay again.”
- Neil, July 2016Mrs Staples “Mayville House was ideal for our family gathering.”
There was plenty of space for us all. The house is centrally situated within easy walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. We had a lovely time and a great welcome at the start.
- Mrs Staples, March 2016Ciara “We used Mayville House for a two day stay on Scarborough.”
It was absolutely brilliant and perfect for a group as big as ours. I cannot recommend this property enough.
- Ciara, February 2016Catherine “A lovely, large, centralised house that is perfect for large family holiday such as ours.”
Fab welcome from the owner. Every convenience supplied. Immaculately clean.
- Catherine, February 2016Ian “There is a good central heating system, and a large screen TV.”
All appliances are new and the standard of decoration and flooring are fantastic. Very clean and the Christmas decorations were a good touch. All the family had a great time. We will use again.
- Ian, December 2015Liz “The standard of the accommodation was excellent.”
The spa bath was enjoyed by all the family. We had a really relaxing break away and the owners kindly let us leave at our own convenience on check out day. This was extremely helpful because it allowed us to breakfast and pack without having to rush. A thoroughly enjoyable stay!
- Liz, November 2015Helen “Lovely property in a great location.”
The owners were helpful with key arrangements and car parking. The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms were lovely and the kitchen very well equipped.
- Helen, November 2015Natalie “Mayville house is renovated to a very high standard but still feels very homely.”
We had a great time when staying. Plenty of room for all 12 of us. Great living room space as well. We will be back to Mayville house!
