The property

This grand, detached, former hunting lodge property is surrounded by picturesque countryside, with panoramic views of the Esk Valley and North York Moors National Park, in a remote and peaceful location, just outside of the villages of Lealholm, Egton and Glaisdale.

Westonby Lodge is a charming sandstone and blue slate roof property in a fantastic location for a family or group of eight guests wanting to explore the North York Moors National Park, whilst also being a short drive from the coast and the popular resorts of Whitby and Scarborough.

Accessed via a long, private driveway, there is ample off-road parking for four cars, with an outbuilding that can be used for bike storage, while stepping inside the property, you will be greeted by the galley-style, contemporary kitchen, with neutrally styled decor, from cream cupboards to wooden worktops and neutral tiled walls, it is a lovely space to prepare meals and is fully-equipped with all of the appliances you'll need during your stay, including a fantastic Range cooker.

Enjoy meals together at the dining table, which can comfortably accommodate the whole group, before moving over to the sofas and getting comfy beside the woodburning stove and enjoying your favourite shows on the Smart TV, or you can curl up with a good book on one of the armchairs, or just admire the country views from the bay window.

There is a bedroom and bathroom downstairs, consisting of a super-king-size double, which can be transformed into a twin room on request, with dual aspect windows displaying the fantastic rural views, along with a shower room with a walk-in shower.

Upstairs are a further two bedrooms, both with dual aspect windows and their own TV; a family room with a king-size bed, which again can be turned into twins, along with a day bed with a full single-size mattress and a pull out bed underneath, plus another king-size double with zip/link feature, both served by the family bathroom which offers a shower over bath.

Outside, there is a large, enclosed front lawn with bench seating along with tables and chairs, where you can enjoy lunch in the sunshine, soaking up your tranquil location.

The lovely village of Lealhom is just two miles away, at the heart of the Esk Valley, and offers a shop, pub, bakery, restaurant and post office for all your local amenities, as well as a number of tranquil country walks through moorland and along the banks of the river.

The popular seaside town of Whitby is just eight miles away, with its stunning clifftop abbey, Captain Cook Memorial Museum, the 199 steps, which offer panoramic views of the harbour from the top, RNLI Museum, the Whalebone arch attraction, whale watching tours available from the harbour, which is separated by two lighthouses at the point where the River Esk flows into the North Sea, and of course, the stunning sandy beach, lined with colourful beach huts, offering visitors plenty of entertainment on a day out in the sunshine.

A few miles south along the coast brings you to Scarborough, with its 12th century castle perched on a headland that separates its two wonderful beaches, along with its heritage railway, the Japanese-inspired landscaped park and gardens of Peasholm Park, and many other family-friendly attractions, including Alpamare UK, SEA LIFE Scarborough and Luna Park.

Westonby Lodge is a fantastic property in a tranquil location, well-placed for discovering the incredible coast and countryside of North Yorkshire.
