Another very pleasant week's holiday at Woodside Cottage.

The area is very quiet and rural. Very comfortable bed and pillows were lovely and soft.

We enjoyed a lovely week's stay in Woodside Cottage.

The communication, information and instructions prior to arriving and in situ were top notch. Everything we could have possibly required to make our stay comfortable was provided. The location is ideal for exploring the local area and beyond.

Really enjoyed our stay at the cottage for the second time, although my wife did find the settee uncomfortable, lovely quiet place out of the way and would not hesitate to stay again.

road side bedroom very comfy but needs a small extra heater in there as cold at night needs a long mirror in one room need a small preparing knife and new measuring jug and pyrex dish needs replacing chair facing telly needs new foam on seat everything else was spotless and well equipped would definitely stay there again

Tucked away in a small courtyard setting along a country road Woodside Cottage provided us with a very comfortable and peaceful stay.

This is a lovely cottage in a very quiet location, and ideal if you have dogs, handy for Pickering, Whitby, and Scarborough.

The shelves are full of books and ornaments, and it feels like you live there, rather than so many places where everything is bare and soulless. The cottage is slightly bigger inside than the photos suggest, again unlike so many others! The only major requests we'd have made would be for a bigger TV, (the present one is really no more than a desk-top one), and some new brochures. If the takeaway menu prices were still valid, you could eat six meals a day! Thanks for a lovely holiday.

Woodside cottage was lovely.

Very homely, clean and well equipped. We had a lovely stay would thoroughly recommend it. Ideally situated to explore Whitby, Scarborough and many other lovely places.

Quirky accommodation perfectly situated to visit the local sights, surrounded by footpaths from the door.

Woodside cottage is in a lovely location very quite with lots of countryside walks in the area .

The cottage itself is nice but is in need of decorating I noted some areas of wall paper peeling away , the cleaning staff also need to be more diligent in there duties . But do not let this put you off a stay it’s still very enjoyable.

Very comfortable and clean cottage and friendly helpful owner who helped us get the wood burner going. Our two dogs were very happy and we were a short drive away from shops and amenities. Would definitely visit again.

We had a lovely stay many thanks for flapjack and milk.

We were very lucky with the weather, radio was a great extra for us and bonus was a barn owl on a low branch just across the lane. Purchased some logs good value from the sawmill as mentioned just a word leave kindling bit of a rip off. Thank you Christine

This is an immaculately presented cottage, in a very tranquil location.

Cottage was spotless inside and out, and kitchen had everything we needed to prepare simple meals. Very high quality bedding, comfortable beds, uncluttered and comfortable. Lovely squashy sofa in the living room.

A lovely cottage in a quiet location.

We have had a lovely week here and the 2 dogs loved it. Bed was very comfy. Kitchen is well equipped but I have one request for some cooking tongs! Otherwise a lovely week.

The cottage was cold and damp when we got there.

There was a log burner but the ashes had not been cleaned out for a while and we didn’t feel it was our place to do that. There was also a message to say heating had been turned off and electricity was expensive but we put the radiators on to try and keep warm. Surely all costs come out of our rental. Peeling wallpaper in bedroom and damp patches. Not a comfortable cottage after some of the ones we have stayed in with you.

Woodside Cottage is a lovely comfortable stay.

Central heating is great, but the wood burning stove is even better. Good walking for dogs from the cottage and they even get a welcome bag of treats. The area is very quiet, with easy access by road to sea sides, York and Pickering where you can board the North York Moors steam trains.

This is the third time i have been to the cottage.

i love the area and the cottage is all you need for a great comfy stay. The only thing i would like to say i find negative is the book in and out times. i understood when we had covid restrictions the owners needed longer, but now they have been listed why did i have to wait until 4.30 to get in and have to be out by 09:30am. 3pm and 10am would be much nicer,

Lovely little cottage with incredibly thoughtful touches like a varied selection of books, decor, yummy treats and a little container of milk.

Beautiful area and easy walks from the door. The most comfortable bedding and soft fluffy towels. Beautiful Denby crockery as well. The cottage smelled a bit, not sure if the smell of dogs or damp, quite a few stains on the carpets, I guess expected with dogs. First night woke up in the night to smell of bad body odour and it was coming from the quilt on top of the bedding. I pushed it down in the night and the next morning took it off the bed. What was left on the lovely white duvet cover was loose dirt and lots of black dog hair. Our dogs stay downstairs and have white fur. Think the quilt would benefit from washing more often. Previous people put dirty/used spoons back in the spoon cup. Toilet seat makes a loud creaking noise every time it is used and the double bed creaks badly as well. We could hear every time our daughter moved in the bed. One side worse than the other so not sure if the frame or mattress. Comfortable though, just needs attention. Make sure to bring hand soap for the bathroom, extra dishwasher tablets and toilet roll. Beware lovely chickens roaming, in case your dogs aren’t used to them. They are very cute! All in all an incredibly lovely stay just a few things that would benefit from some attention.

The owner has put a great deal of thought into making one’s stay comfortable with lots of little thoughtful touches. We would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

This was our second visit to Woodside Cottage.

Cannot fault the facilities at all, everything you need for a relaxing week away, kitchen equipment well stocked, starter pack for the wood burner, enclosed yard for the dogs. The owners also provide some lovely welcome touches with homemade flapjacks, treats for the dogs, and OS maps of the local area... and the mice (not the living variety) dotted around the property are adorable. There are plenty of walks from the front door or within a 5 min drive, we enjoyed getting (slightly) lost in Wykeham Forest, and Cayton Bay is only a 20min drive away for a stroll on the beach. Would definitely recommend and will be looking to rebook again for next year. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The cottage was exceptional .

The hosts provided more than anticipated. And the pics pre stay were good but the place itself had more character than they gave credit. Special touches of doggie treats, cake and wood for the fire. Parking outside the door so easy to unload. I did not get to meet the owners but there was no need. We would return in the near future. Many thanks.

Excellent little cottage, with good access to Scarborough and Dalby Forest.

Nice walks from cottage which were great for our dog. Plenty of room in cottage for a large Dog Crate. Nice touch of pint of milk in fridge and homemade cake waiting for us. Definitely would book here again.

Woodside cottage is in a lovely peaceful rural location and was kitted out with everything we needed for a full self catering week.

Our visit was during a frosty January and the addition of the wood burning stove made for nice cosy evenings. Plenty of walking from the doorstep and perfectly located for exploring beautiful North Yorkshire with our two dogs.

We had a fantastic time with family over Christmas.

The owners told us everything that we needed and there was everything that we could think of in the cottage.

Woodside Cottage is very cosy, welcoming and has all the facilities you could need.

The peace and quiet was delightful and the location perfect for walking or visiting nearby towns and coast.

The cottage is warm, cosy and beautifully appointed. Everything is provided to make your stay easy and comfortable, even down to the logs for the fire should you wish to use it. And the beds!! Well, the most comfortable we've ever had in a holiday cottage! Can't wait to return.

Home from home … a delightful cottage in a lovely area, perfect for a relaxing break.

Really comfortable accommodation with lots of thoughtful attention to detail.

A lovely cottage with spacious bedrooms and a well-equipped kitchen.

Very comfortable in a rural location with beautiful views when driving into town. It was easy to spend time here and close to places of interest. However, there was one downside for us which would stop us staying here again and this was the bathroom which was unusual as it had a step in the middle of the room with the entrance and shower below the step and the the loo, sink and bath above. This meant that we found ourselves having to constantly be aware that the step was there and, as I am clumsy, not to forget and fall. The flooring was the same throughout so did not make the change in levels obvious. This was a particular concern when accessing facilities during the night. In short, a beautifully maintained and comfortable cottage but not for those with mobility issues.

Nice clear instructions for everything. Had an interesting walk up the lane through the woods meeting the hunt and it’s followers.Saw some beautiful hares and lots of pheasants. Lovely to wake up to the singing birds and snowdrops in the wood opposite. Good spot for visiting the surrounding area and all it has to offer.

We looked at quite a few cottages to book a last minute holiday but this cottage stood out from the rest and didnt disappoint .

It was lovely and warm the day we arrived. The cottage was spotless and well equipped with quality items. I especially loved the glasses with the bees on ! It was a perfect location and we spent every day exploring the beautiful coastline . We would definitely recommend Woodside Cottage. Thank you for a lovely holiday experience.

A beautiful and well appointed property with some nice touches i.

e. the little wooden mice dotted around the place. Very quiet with only a few other properties nearby. Due to the location and the time of year Wellingtons would have been advisable, but not to be seen as a negative. The Cottage did not disappoint in any way and would strongly recommend.

Lots of useful information, books, games etc to keep a family entertained. Great base for the delights Pickering and North Yorkshire has to offer. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Absolutely beautiful cottage, exactly as shown in pictures.

Facilities exceeded expectations, everything you could need was available. I took my mum and dad as we couldn't celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary earlier in the year, Christine and Stephen the owners left a card prosecco and a cake for them, such a lovely thoughtful gesture. If we are heading to Yorkshire again we would definitely book to stay again.

The cottage is very well appointed and clean.

There were lovely little welcoming touches like fresh flowers in rooms, treats for dog and for us. The location was beautiful, off the beaten track and yet close to amenities. Loved it!

The cottage is beautiful and is located in a quiet, idyllic location a mile or so from the main road.

It is very well equipped and is one of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed.

Very quiet, easy to get to. With plenty of places to go at a reasonable drive away. We took our dog and he loved it too.

Pulling up outside on a cold dark night to see the kitchen light on welcoming us was fantastic ... The cottage is absolutely devine. Furnished perfectly and very clean and tidy. The small things make all the difference and I have to say the owners have gone to great lengths to ensure everything is there you could possibly need. The area itself is excellent. In my opinion this area of North Yorkshire is hard to beat. Within a short distance you have the seaside, the moors and the forests. It just does not get any better. Fantastic cottage, brilliant location. I would readily and eagerly recommend Woodside Cottage to anybody and everybody. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Christine and Stephen.

THIRD VISIT TOP COTTAGE” Once again we have enjoyed our week at Woodside Cottage.

We think it is one of the very best that we have ever stayed in. The only surprise to us is that we think it ought to have Won one of the Awards for BEST Cottages with SYKES. The Owners do a great job. Everything thought of and all to a high standard.Like a Home from Home, very comfortable and relaxing.

The cottage was beautiful.

It was cozy, comfortable and superbly appointed. Lovely peaceful location with excellent walks from the doorstep. The owner had thought of everything you could possibly need, and everything in the cottage was of an excellent standard.

The cottage was amazing, very well presented and equipped, from reading previous reviews we knew there was no washing machine, so being prepared for that was not a problem.

It was in a peaceful area surrounded by some great walks for the dog. The owners where helpful with leaving information on everything, how things work, places to visit and local amenities etc.upon arrival there was a bottle of wine and some treats for the dogs, which were very much appreciated. We had a great week.

The cottage is lovely and the setting is charming, we heard Owls in the woods and noticed plenty of wildlife whilst walking in the area.

It makes an exelent base for exploring the many interesting things to see and there are plenty of maps and leaflets to give you ideas on how to spend your days.

Everything about this cottage was quality and good taste.

Generous with logs for wood burner which was excellent on cold evenings even in June! Nice touches like fresh flowers and wine and milk in fridge and treats for dog. A lot of thought has gone into making guest's stay a memorable one.

We have already spoken and written to a number of friends and relatives about how much we enjoyed every aspect of the holiday (mentioned it in our postcards!

) and the cottage was just delightful. We have a very particular, design conscious daughter in her thirties and she loved it. We had not been to this side of Yorkshire before and we were really enchanted with it all, so no particular favourites. We visited Thirsk and that longish run gave us taste of the different countryside and villages. Our 'discovery' of nearby Trourtsdale thrilled us and our visit to Nunnington Hall, although expensive (we are not N.T. members), gave us a really civilised day out! And the weather, for the third week in February, was wonderful - even warm on occasions! The rain that came fell in the night! We'd love to come back and wouldn't hesitate to return to Woodside Cottage again.

It was absolutely immaculate, delightfully presented and very well equipped. Just perfect in every way.

The owners of this cottage go over and above to ensure that people using the cottage will have an extremely comfortable stay.

The cottage is the nicest we have ever stayed in, being spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and with every possible item provided that one would want or need on holiday. Woodside Cottage at Brompton By Sawdon has to be one of the very best.

Our second visit was just as good as the first which was exceptional. Location for quiet and relaxation away from busy roads is marvellous with easy access to all of the North Yorks moors area and East coastal resorts. Could not ask for more. Thoroughly recommend the Cottage and area.

Second time we have visited the cottage and just as good as the first it offers all you need for a nice relaxing break.

The cottage is both so very clean and comfortable. Our two new pups loved all the walks that you can do from the cottage door. A nice walk across the field then a drink at The Anvil at Sawdon is a must. PS don't miss the butchers in the village OMG. Can not recommend high enough

This cottage is truly stunning.

There are so many homely features and it was exceptionally clean. The owners are extremely thoughtful as there are basic supplies in to help you (toilet rolls, cleaning products, cooking condiments that kind of thing. On the table were treats for our dogs and there was a bottle of wine and milk in the fridge. It was like home from home. Only downside is not having a washing machine but apart from that it is fabulous and I highly recommend it.

Quality fixtures and fittings and absolutely everything you would need to enjoy a really relaxing break away from it all. Situated very well between Pickering and Scarborough nestled in the quiet countryside, idyllic. We are returning in September which says it all .

Lovely country cottage in nice peaceful setting , it's the perfect getaway.

The only minus for us with having a hairy dog a washing machine would be preferable than a dish washer overall our weeks holiday was perfect. Thank you.

Everything from the lovely, friendly email from the owner a few days before arrival with all the information we needed, to the lovely bottle of wine, dog treats, and milk provided was thoughtful, professional and made for a lovey experience. Lovely cottage in nice courtyard setting with handy dog walks on the doorstep / cottage is immaculately presented with thoughtful welcome pack including bottle of wine / log burner was most welcome after long walks with the dog / owners were very helpful and numerous maps and books of local area / we had a great night out in the old post office - a lovely local pub serving excellent beers and good selection of gins / the pub also provides great value grub - curries,pizza,lasagne etc / the local area is great for walks either on the beach or around forestry/ all 4 of us and 2 dogs had a lovely weekend and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend

Woodside Cottage was just what we had been looking for.

The location was quiet and surrounded by countryside. The cottage itself was beautifully furnished and the owners had thought of everything that you might need. We prepared and cooked Christmas with no worries, the huge oven took care of this! The house was tastefully decorated and the wood burner was just the welcome home you needed after a chilly day walking with the dogs. The bedrooms were large and comfortable and the king size bed was unzipped and made up as 2 singles for our girls. The only downside was not having access to a washing machine; other than that Woodside cottage gave us a perfect family Christmas. The owners were always quick to respond to any queries and we thank them for letting us stay.

A bottle of milk to get you going etc and as it was Janes Birthday a card and a bottle of wine .. a very nice thought.

Beautiful cottage, which far exceeded our expectations.

Enjoyed our days visiting various locations, but loved returning to our holiday home and chilling out in front of the fire with a glass of wine/beer on an evening. The owners had gone to great lengths, ensuring that their visitors are short of nothing !. We didn't feel like visitor's, but guest's who were welcomed into their home. Hope to return in the not too distant future.

It was a well equipped cottage that was beautifully clean with lots of great finishing touches such as fresh flowers in the kitchen.

There was a lovely welcome note plus milk, wine and even a card and chocolates for my mother's 90th birthday so the owners had gone out of their way to make it special. Very quiet location and there were plenty of maps and guide books to the local area which made it feel as if you were in a home. Definitely recommend to others.

A washing machine/drier would be useful

A very pretty, comfortable and well equipped cottage in a quiet relaxing setting.

The cottage was tastefully decorated and very well equipped; clearly a lot of thought had been given by the owner to ensure visitors needs were fully met.

On opening the door the cottage was so welcoming and we knew from the first minute that we were going to enjoy ourselves. The location was most handy for the various market towns as well as the coast and moors. Over the years we have stayed in many cottages throughout the UK and we both feel that Woodside cottage is up there with the best of them.Thank you
