Our third visit in five years which demonstrates how delighted we have always been with the property and the consideration afforded by its owners.

We look forward to returning very soon!

If you want peace and quiet this cottage is ideal, exceptionally clean and provides everything you need for a relaxing stay.

Well kept garden. Ample parking space for more than one vehicle.

My wife and l have been going to the Piggery for many years and have had some wonderful holidays there.

We have booked again for next year, need l say more.

The Piggery is a very agreeable cottage to spend a holiday week.

The location makes it easy to explore the coast and its fishing villages as well as the inland moors. On arrival we found a generous welcome pack, which was highly appreciated. In the cottage itself everything we needed was there, apart from a coffee machine. All in all we rate The Piggery 9 out of 10. Hans Nas (NL) and Machteld Nas (B)

Our favourite cottage we’ve stayed here several times.

It’s very homely, facilities are excellent and it is very well equipped. It is so clean and well maintained, views are beautiful and it’s so very peaceful. Margaret is an excellent first class host and the welcome pack is very generous. Thank you Margaret, we’ll be back in August

Very comfortable, very good standard of furnishings.

Good location, good shops in Sleights - excellent butchers with wide range of quality foods, also Botham’s bakery, and Spar for basics. Convenient bus and train services into Whitby.

This was our second stay at The Piggery, the same week as last year.

We had a long tiring journey up from Kent accompanied by Storm Claudia so it was a great joy and relief entering the cottage which was lovely and clean, warm and cosy. Easy access from the car park for unloading and coffee and cake from the generous welcome pack. Margaret has thought of everything you could need in this lovely cottage with no expense spared. Much appreciated and thank you again, we will be back!

Quiet location, beautifully clean and the best welcome pack ever.

Beds are a bit warm and really it's best suited to 3 not 4 but this is a gem of a property.

We had a wonderful stay at The Piggery.

We have been several times before and it never disappoints us. Every time we visit we are amazed at the cleanliness, final touches such as the welcome hamper, milk and teabags, exquisite! Mrs Wilson is really welcoming and helpful in every way. The cottage has everything you could ask for and more! Beautiful area for walking too.

The Piggery is an absolutely wonderful place to relax from the outside world.Everything you need is in the piggery.The owner Margaret is an absolute gem and is always available if you have any problem (which you never will I guarantee).There is always a superb hamper as a starter pack supplied by Margaret.We have been three times and would come every year if we didn’t live so far away.

The Piggery is a beautiful home in a lovely setting.

Everything in the home was 5* plus and the owner a delight to work with. The house was spotlessly clean with a lovely welcome pack on arrival. We spent many hours sitting on the patio looking over the hillside and enjoying the peaceful setting. Great location for access to walks, coast and villages, towns. Highly recommend.

My wife and l have stayed at the piggery many times and have never failed to have been impressed.

Absolutely fabulous, quiet little cottage with everything we could wish for.

Great location for country walks and private parking beside the cottage. A pleasant downhill walk across the fields and lanes into Whitby (bus back as it was a steep hill to Ugglebarnby!). Lovely garden to sit in at the end of the day, with the options of sunny shady areas. Very generous food goodies left by the owner which was much appreciated.

After a long journey up from Kent it was a joy on entering the property to discover a very handy welcome pack, flowers and a lit side light in the warm sitting room.

The cottage is very cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Plenty of local information provided to help you plan your days out. Large car parking area so easy to unload and load right by the front door. We visited Whitby, York and Harrogate for an exhibition but the weather turned wintry so we were unable to complete our wish list of things to do. An excuse to return again one day! Many thanks to Margaret for making our stay so memorable.

This cottage has a beautiful peaceful location , ideal for people who would enjoy a quiet break away from noisy traffic and the hustle and bustle of daily life.

It appeared to have enjoyed a recent refurbishment as the carpets, and decor appeared untouched by wear and tear from frequent comings and goings. The cupboards were full of everything one could need . and the welcome hamper was a lovely thoughtful gesture . The stay felt like being home from home ;very comfortable and warm... The only point for criticism could be that we found the wash basin in the bathroom quite small and inadequate for say washing one's face.. We would definitely enjoy a return visit some time as we truly enjoyed the comfort ,peace and the pretty location.

Delightful cottage very clean and homely and the welcome pack was something else, very thoughtful and generous.

The location is beautiful with superb views, very quiet and peaceful but within easy access to Whitby and surrounding areas. We loved everything about The Piggery and Margaret is an excellent host. Myself, daughter and granddaughter have had the most wonderful week here and are already looking forward to returning next year.

Location brilliant, cleanliness top rate, beds a bit warm with duvee for the time of year - welcome items second to none. More suited for 3 people and second bed has a sloping ceiling. Perfect retreat from the bustle of Whitby.

The Piggery is an absolutely wonderful cottage set in the most beautiful tranquil area of Sleight.

The Piggery has comfort home from home with every household item you would require.The owner Mrs Wilson is extremely welcoming and the hamper she leaves is superb.It is only a 10 minute drive into Whitby and there are many things to do and see.We recommend the Magpie cafe And Trenchers if you decide to eat out the food is top notch.

This is a well appointed, immaculately clean, cottage in a nice secluded location.

This is a lovely little cottage in which to stay.

We arrived to the heating being on and a nice warm house. The arrival gifts were extremely welcome and much appreciated. The house is equiped with everything likely to be needed during a stay and Sleights nearby has an excellent Butcher's shop with an excellent choice of pre prepared meals to be reheated. Will definitely be returning and would recommend to others

The Piggery is like a home from home. A very thoughtful gift basket upon arrival was great. Contact with the owner was easy, they made sure everything was ok and said that if we needed anything then to get in touch. Can't wait to book again

The cottage is located in the picturesque hamlet of Ugglebarnby and is close to many great attractions, including Eden camp and Whitby, as well as a small village containing a Spar, an outstanding butchers and a delicious fish and chip shop. Inside, the cottage is nicely furnished, excellently equipped and very clean.

we found the property to be very clean and tidy, with all that you need. The welcome pack is a nice touch. outside was nice for taking in the views and nature. there is also loads of off road parking. It was also nice to be able to get in touch with the Host should you need to. We would say this is the best place to date that we have used.

Lovely appointed cottage.

We were there and the weather was very cold but the accommodation was warm and cosy. It’s well located for exploring the east coast and beyond, whilst being isolated for that get away from it all feeling

A beautiful cottage / conversion.

Very tastefully decorated and fitted out accompanied by the warmest of welcomes. It was everything we could have wished for. Perfectly situated to make the most of the coast and the Moors. We had 3 busy but fantastic days away and coming back to relax in the cottage was perfect.

We love The Piggery.

It's out of the way so you can have a peaceful holiday, but it's near enough to Whitby if you want noise and bustle. The owner is wonderful and the Welcome pack is lovely.

The little patio at the back with the wonderful view was a nice surprise.

Margaret's welcome goodies were much appreciated and so very thoughtful. We had a lovely week and would definitely return.

Lovely stay in a beautiful part of the world.

Had a really enjoyable week at the piggery.

Was really relaxing and we spent a night or two in the cottage just enjoying the view. Welcome pack was awesome. Will definitely be back in the future. Weather was a little hit and miss so it was nice to have somewhere to go and relax. Chippy just down the road and Whitby and other places not far km the car.

Our 4th time at the Piggery and the holiday was as fabulous as all the previous visits.

The welcome pack was wonderful. Margaret is lovely and so helpful. The cottage is full of character and so cosy after a windswept day walking on the nearby moors!

What a Joyous place to stay, idyllic location, views from the rear garden were breathtaking.

We had a lovely holiday at the Piggery.

The cottage has everything you could ask for and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. The views from the garden are fabulous and are children loved playing on the lawn. We will definitely be back in the future.

'The Piggery' is a delightful cottage, which has been converted very sympathectically.

The owner is a very friendly lady, who clearly wants you to have a very agreeable stay. The space outside at the back of the property, which includes a small field is a lovely, peaceful place to sit and the view from there is beautiful.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Piggery and would highly recommend it.

We would definitely like to stay again sometime. The one issue to mention is that the sofa is a little tired and the support is not what it once was and therefore not that comfortable to use. Good communication with the owner.

The cottage was very clean and attention had been payed to ensure that it was covid safe.

The Piggery is a very comfortable cottage and is well located for access to both the countryside and the coast, no wonder it is popular all year round.The welcome pack that was provided is outstanding, so a big thanks for that.We had a great time staying there for the week and where able to explore the area, mainly by car but there are a number of walks that could be started from the cottage itself and also by short drives.

Good, quiet location with easy access to local facilities and attractions, but a bit dated and in need of a facelift. Also cleaning standards left a little to be desired.

A beautiful little holiday home on the top of an idyllic valley.

It's was very cosy with all you could need for a stay. There are some lovely walks in the local vicinity and within a short drive of Whitby the coast is never far away. We'll definitely be coming back here to stay as it was so peaceful. The gift basket was a lovely touch and delicious also.

Well equipped, the only slight shortage was of glass tumblers. A delicious welcome pack.

I booked a cottage at the last minute,3 days before we were due to arrive.

I had no confirmation e mail or phone or any contact number for the owner. The owner phoned me late the evening before we had booked as she had not heard from us. I phoned Sykes office the next morning to say I had no communication from yourselves, was put on hold for 15 mins then hung up in frustration. Had to phone the owner for directions etc. I feel an e mail with all the relevant information should have been sent to me from you. Owner was lovely and the cottage was fantastic. Very disappointed with your office

A lovely cottage in a peaceful location.

Welcome pack was brilliant, thank you Margaret especially the car parking disc. We made full use of it. The cottage was perfect for us allowing access to Moors and Coastline exploration.

What a superb little cottage in a lovely location.

We had no concerns about any covid19 risk as the cottage was spotless and every precaution had and was being taken. Very handy for many attractions both coastal and inland although both Whitby and Scarborough were too crowded for the current situation we are in. Hope to return in more "normal" times.

It was super clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was amazing for a quiet getaway with stunning views, and it was only a 10 minute drive to Whitby and the beach. We highly recommend.

The cottage is stunning and set in a lovely rural location.

Views are beautiful over the rolling countryside. Each room was spotless and the welcome pack stacked with some lovely treats. The owner was so accommodating and friendly. Cannot wait to return.

On arrival at the Piggery it was situated in a lovely quiet spot and was warm and cosy and felt very homely.

Mrs Wilson had provided one of the best welcome packs we have had since staying at different properties with Sykes Cottages. Mrs Wilson was both friendly and helpful to us regarding collection of the key and also when we needed to contact her at the beginning of our stay. The Piggery was very clean and nicely furnished and the kitchen had every utensil you could wish for and you could not have wanted for any other household item as it was all provided, which was really appreciated. We felt that a lot of thought and care has gone into making sure the Piggery provides a comfortable, relaxing and fully equipped base from which to enjoy your holiday. This certainly was the experience we had and would definitely stay there again. Many thanks to Mrs Wilson.

Lovely, well equipped, clean cottage in a quiet rural location.

Amazing views over the countryside out towards the coast. Great spot for bird watching, although the woodpecker was a bit elusive (could be heard but not seen!). Deer grazing in the field opposite every morning. We only spent 3 days here - wish we'd stayed a week as we didn't want to go home, despite the change in the weather. The welcome pack was very generous and the fresh flowers left in the lounge a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

A gem of a property where you can catch sight of roe deer and hares and hear the toot of an owl very close to the cottage.

The cottage is lovely very quirky and finished to a high standard.

The location was beautiful looking out onto rolling landscape. Will be back again soon.

The piggery is a luxurious charming cottage in a lovely picturesque location with great views and peace and quiet.

Plenty to do around Whitby, including a beautiful waterfall "Falling Foss" and tea room only 2 miles south of the cottage. North York Moors Railway Steam Gala was a great day out.

We could not fault this cottage at all, it was perfect and in a beautiful location!

Fully equipped cottage, warm and cosy. Welcome package on arrival. Fresh free range eggs! There are no bad points about this cottage, peace and quiet, breath taking views. Wished all holiday cottages were set out this way 5 stars all the way !

This property is only suitable for 3 adults or 2 adults and one child.

It is 4 miles from Whitby and in the back of beyond which is not for everybody and bear in mind there are 4 substantial up/down roads to get here. Personally I think the location/ facilities are second to none.

Personal touches from Margaret the hostess were lovely.

The location is fabulous for visiting that part of North Yorkshire. Just wonderful.

This cottage was absolute perfection, very clean and the amount of extras were amazing.

Mrs Wilson had not only filled a welcome basket with free range eggs, tea, coffee and cakes but also left 2 vases of fresh flowers and all sorts of lovely extras like tooth brushes, shower buffer and mouth wash plus every type of cleaning product you could wish for in the kitchen and lounge. Very good kitchen utensils and a range of pots and pans, we couldn't get to grips with the washing machine however. We especially loved sitting on the patio with a glass of wine/tea/coffee/cider and admired a stunning scenery, it was very helpful that Sykes had arranged brilliant weather for our stay!!! The only drawback was that it was a way out of the village for walking to the local pub and shops, very steep hills. We were able to get about via the local taxi service when we didn't want to drive ourselves. The local butchers was a gold mine and we came home with a freezer box full of beautiful meat locally sourced, absolutely wonderful selection. We visited Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay, Floss Falls and a few local villages and their facilities, our first time in the North Yorkshire area we are certain to return to The Piggery and explore further, all in all a wonderful holiday, thank you.

It is a beautifully appointed and comfortable cottage with everything being of the highest quality.It is ideally located and is set in very attractive and secluded surroundings.Margaret,the owner,is very genuine,friendly and attentive with her excellent welcome pack always being so appreciated.It is such a home from home that it's such a wrench to leave when the holiday is over! Booking the cottage was a very easy process.

The cottage itself was extremely warm comfortable and clean. We got a lovely welcome pack including milk, teabags and fresh eggs. The cottage is in easy reach of Whitby and other nearby places of interest and the holiday was relaxing for everyone.

There were not enough instructions on how to use heating, putting out recycling bins etc.

Quite simply the best cottage that we have stayed in!

Beautiful surroundings.

Rolling hills and sea in the distance. Large garden that was perfect for my 4 yr old daughter. Every comfort catered for. Attentive and helpful owner. Just perfect!

THE PIGGERY AT UGGLEBARNBY IS "HOME FROM HOME" WHEN YOU READ THE VISITORS BOOK THERE IS NOT A BAD WORD ANYWHERE AND IT IS PERFECTLY TRUE.

IT HAS BEEN OUR SECOND HOLIDAY THIS SEPTEMBER AND DUE TO MY CONVALESCENCE FROM ILLNESS OVER 2016 WE SPENT MORE TIME ACTUALLY IN THE COTTAGE WHICH HAS EVERY COMFORT YOU COULD WISH FOR, NOT TO MENTION IF THE WEATHER IS NICE YOU HAVE 2 PATIO'S TO SIT OUT. WHILST IT IS SLIGHTLY RURAL YOU ARE NEAR ENOUGH TO EXPLORE SO MANY WONDERFUL PLACES ON COAST OR MOOR. I COULD GO ON FOREVER...... THANK YOU SYKES FOR SOME WONDERFUL HOLIDAYS OVER THE YEARS - NO DOUBT WE WILL BE BACK.
