Apartment 4

Although the apartment was generally fine, there were some issues that future guests may wish to note before booking.

1) The apartment is not Ground Floor as stated in the listing. It is on the First Floor up a very steep flight of stairs which an elderly person or dog may find difficult. Although there is a lift, we could not get it to work (although we may have missed something) 2) The whole property is covered in scaffolding, making for a very unpleasant outlook and atmosphere in the apartment and negating any sea view.

Close to all amenities. We've loved every minute and would definitely stay there again.

The apartment was fabulously quirky.

Everything was provided that you could possibly need and every room was spotless. I had a replacement kneecap in March and due to have the other knee operation soon and the lift directly into the apartment was such a bonus. The property is in a lovely position for gentle walks to the sea front promenade and spectacular views and only a short walk away are cafes, bars and independent shops. It was a perfect holiday for us and we were lucky to have great weather. Thank you to Sykes for the accurate description and help with the booking.

Fantastic 2nd visit to the apartment.

The lift is unique, and is brilliant when you have an elderly member in your party and 2 dogs. To have 2 bathrooms serving 2 bedrooms is also a major benefit. You have a free parking permit on the street, it can be tricky to find a spot in peak season and weekends. The free parking pass for West Cliff Car Park is great if you can't, and there isn't a time limit in the car park. The apartment is in a great location on West Cliff, with great views of the sea. We love this apartment and had a great time.

Had everything we needed. Host was extremely friendly and helpful. The sea views were even better than expected. The best location. Parking permit was really appreciated. Pictures don't do it justice how lovely the apartment is. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Apartment 4 and would definately recommend to others.

It is in a fabulous location, with everything you could need, and the lift is a real bonus. We did have trouble on arrival locating the key box, but they are to be found on the back of the left hand wall, behind a gate. The key to the lift is the smallest on the ring and once inside just put the key in no 1 slot and turn and you are taken straight into the flat. When going down, just use the key to call the lift and press the zero button to go to the ground floor. It took us a few goes to work it out as there are no instructions. The walk in shower needs a new head and hose as they are leaking. Whitby is a lovely seaside town with everything you could need, but there are no dog friendly beaches nearby, which was a shame. It is very hilly getting into town but well worth it.

My wife loved this place for its lift directly into the apartment, location (sea view), bright colours, large open plan kitchen diner and large bedrooms.

In fact, since we came back, she hasn't stopped talking about it. She not only wants to go back but could see herself living there. For once, I'd have to agree with her.

This appartment is lovely.

It is spacious, well presented and well equiped. It is a real home from home. The lift is an added bonus. Parking was not a problem. We could usually park directly outside of the property. Its location is fantastic. You are in walking distance for both the town and the beach. A walk to Sandsend is highly recommended.

Location of Apartment 4, Whitby is excellent.

The lift is a fabulous bonus! Beautifully clean and tidy and kitted out with everything needed for a short break. Loved the Botham's packet of biscuits left and lovely having a small carton of milk with teabags and coffee so you can have a cuppa when you arrive. The decor is so quirky and full of personality. We would certainly return here.

Apartment has everything you would need for a enjoyable stay in Whitby. Everything is as described.

A slight niggle was the uncomfortable bed & WC cistern noisy/long as noted in previous comments. Overall it was great

A beautifully presented apartment in a superb location!

The apartment has a lovely homely feeling and we loved the view!

The apartment overall is lovely and in a great location however there are a few minor maintenance niggles that prevented this from being a full 5 star feedback.

1) The window in the rear bedroom needs fixing to address the seal around the opener. It was whistling loudly from the wind when we arrived. £5 worth of blutack to seal the window fixed it for our stay. 2) The shower head in the shower room is in desperate need of cleaning / replacing. 3) There is a very small leak in the toilet in the shower room. Either at the bas of the bowl or the waste pipe joint at the rear. 4) There is very limited space for clothes storage in the second bedroom. We had to store almost everything in the main bedrooms wardrobe. 5) A proper pair of oven gloves wouldn't go amiss rather than the heatproof pads provided. In summary, if the above were addressed then we would stay again. The second bedroom let's the property down a little

Stayed iin Whitby many times, but this is our first time at apartment 4.

. Lovely apartment, well equipped and very comfortable. Excellent location, virtually on seafront, loved view every morning. Added bonus of parking permit and lift up to apartment if needed to use. Would definately reccommend and visit again in future.

We visited this apartment for the second time.

Again it was perfect. Clean, 2 bathrooms, care for details, comfortable, very pretty views, very pretty interior, perfect location. Everything was taken care of. Free parking when using the parking permit. A good location for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, Yorkshire Dales, York etc... We do recomment this holiday property.

The property was in a great location with a great sea view.

The property was comfortable and nicely decorated. The lift was an added bonus. The only negative was the water pressure on the shower, but that said I would still recommend the property. My friend and I really enjoyed our stay.

This is a very pleasant flat, situated near the sea, which can be seen from the side windows.

It was clean and comfortable and well equipped, and the open plan area is quite spacious, which is not always the case. There is a lift up to the flat from within the building but there are steps up to the front door, so access would be difficult for people with mobility issues. I would have liked more information for arrival: the key safe was not obvious and it took us a bit of puzzling to work out how to use the lift key. Once in, though, we had a lovely holiday. Would recommend.

Water pressure for shower was an issue otherwise a lovely apartment, well furnished, clean and lovely views.

Flat 4 is an extremely clean, warm and very well equipped apartment.

Its location is good and has good views. It has everything you should need including a great selection of books, DVD's and games. There is even a torch and hot water bottle should you need them as well as complimentary tea, coffee, milk and biscuits on our arrival. The host was friendly and helpful on the phone.

The property was perfect,everything you need ,spotless and the icing on the cake was the lift up to your door.

The area was top class very clean and ideal for strolling down to the beach, the harbor or the town. This was our first visit to Whitby, we will definitely be returning.

We had a very pleasant stay.

The Victorian flat was perfect with a very good view over the sea at the side. Eating your breakfast with a wonderful view what more do you need! It is perfect located and the parking permit does the trick. Everything is taken care off. We do recommend this flat to all. Enough to see and to do in the area We did a lot of fossil hunting. A daytrip to York is also recommended. We wish the owner good luck and a happy life!!

Lovely flat in an excellent location!

The flat is a great size and is clean and comfortable.

It is in easy reach of the town and is handy for the beach too. The owner is helpful and friendly and is easy to contact for information or queries.

Great flat in a very good location .

Very well presented with good facilities ideal for a family of four. The lift was a great bonus once we had worked out how to operate it. Better instructions for the lift and car parking would be of great help. The car parking was very easy and the lift easy to use after a phone call to owner who was very helpful. We would only book this flat when we return to Whitby any other would only be second best.

The beds were a little hard for me personally and my sons struggled.

But otherwise it’s a beautiful place and just perfect in every other way.

Lovely apartment in a great spot.

Close to the beach and a short walk into the centre. Facilities were great and we will book again.

Apartment was in great building and location and was very clean, well equipped and if visiting Whitby is perfect for both beach walks and town centre - parking was just at the rear and use a permit.

The car park can get full so may need to park elsewhere but always seemed to be a place close by so not a problem as laso can use disc parking. When going to Whitby again we would book this apartment.

Lovely flat in a lovely place.

The flat is well equipped with pretty much everything you need and is in a convenient position for both town and beach. We really enjoyed our stay.

Needs new mattress in master bedroom.

Flat is described as having a sea view but this is only from looking sideways through a bay window. The flat faces other flats across a view and is not facing the sea.

We were disappointed with the safety and security at the rear of the property.

The back bedroom window would not close as the handle was broken. On top of that the window opened fully and had no safety device to prevent anyone (especially children) falling out. We text the owner upon arrival and expressed our concerns, initially we were ignored and the 2nd text she responded saying it would not be repaired for 3 weeks. We have two young children that were sleeping in that room and we had to make a temporary fix in an attempt to prevent any accidents or break ins. As a Mother concerned with the safety of our children I did not sleep well whilst there so therefore did not fully enjoy my stay at Whitby due to tiredness and anxiety. I feel owners need to respond to their guests promptly and carry out repair work swiftly especially when it comes to safety of their guests and their property. We certainly have, due to Covid paid well over the odds for a holiday this year which as I stated earlier I could not enjoy fully due to the owner failing to maintain their property.

I would recommend Flat 4 highly for anybody.

The communication from the outset from the owner and facilities provided were excellent. The flat itself is up to date and with a washing/drying machine, dishwasher and other bits make it easy to keep on top and spend time exploring the area. We have stayed at a number of different properties in Whitby and this is by far the best. To the Host (Margaret) Thank You

A really lovely apartment in a great location on West Cliff.

Around a 10 minute walk into town, it’s handy for shops, pubs and restaurants. Also only about 5 minute walk to the beautiful beach. The apartment has everything you’d need for 4 people. We absolutely loved everything, it was so peaceful. The owner was very quick to answer questions and was lovely to deal with. I’m sure we’ll be back!

Parking permit for the car park was great to have and the bread and milk left by the owner was a lovely touch. The beds were a little squeaky but otherwise comfortable. Enjoyed our stay.

Flat 4 is a lovely, well equipped flat in a fabulous location.

The owner left us some bread, milk and biscuits which was a nice touch. We had a problem with the bed while we were there and she rectified the problem immediately. It is a home from home and everything you could possibly need whilst away is in this flat. Parking was no problem. The owner left us a parking pass and there was a car park at the rear of the property. Would recommend.

Flat 4 in Whitby was perfect for our family holiday.

The flat was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We all loved looking out of the window at the sea while eating at the dining table. Great place for our toddler and dog. Would definitely book again.

Our short break at this property started poorly (the key safe would not open) the owners arranged for a spare set of keys in a timely manner.

When we gained entry to the property we where pleasantly surprised to find a very clean and well presented property with complimentary milk, bread & biscuits. We only had a few very minor issues which I have past on to the owner. The location of the key safe is not obvious so a little bit more information on key safe location would be good. The location is close to the centre and we had a good time walking around all the old narrow street. Car parking can be difficult in Whitby but the close proximity of the car park and free parking permit is a big plus. I would defiantly recommend this property.
