A large bay window provides lots of light and is a perfect spot for dining with a table and four chairs.

There is a modern fitted kitchen with integrated appliances including electric oven and hob, fridge, separate freezer, microwave and washing machine and a panini toaster. The kitchen has a table and chairs if you prefer to eat in here - maybe breakfast before an exciting day touring the glorious Yorkshire coast or wandering down to the beach and getting some sunshine!

A double bedroom has a comfortable king-size bed with bedside tables and lights - perfect for late reading! - a wardrobe and chest of drawers offering plenty of storage and full length, ornate mirror.

The immaculate shower room has a double size shower, WC and wash hand basin.




Located in the West Cliff area of Whitby Church View is close to the famous Whale Bones - which has views out to sea and over the famous pier - as well as cliff-top attractions. The apartment is a stroll to the town centre amenities including chic restaurants, bars, pubs, tea rooms and shops. The golden beach and harbour, with its award-winning restaurants, elegant bars and renowned fish and chip restaurants, are nearby with the 'old town' of Whitby - with its cobbled streets, famous 199 Steps - worth the climb for the view! - and the iconic Whitby Abbey - a ten minute stroll away. Parking scratch cards for 24/7 on-street parking are provided plus there is a Pay and Display car park 250m away.

The apartment is situated near the top of Hudson street, close to the Europa guest house and is below the East elevation of St Hildas Church. The opposite side of the street is called Abbey Terrace. The street is two-way, with parking each side for a maximum of 3 hours, subject to conditions and the use of discs, obtainable locally. Nearby on-street, scratch card parking is also available on a first come first served basis on the Khyber Pass, East Crescent and surrounding West Cliff streets.

OUTSIDE (Communal)

• There is a stone area under the front window across the front of the property.

FRONT DOOR (communal):

• 5 steps lead up to the house and single communal front door. These are 1.4m wide x 17cm deep
• There is one last step 15 cm high leading to the door porch area.
• The door is 86 cm wide and this opens inwards to the porch measuring 97cm x 1.3m and the floor is bristle matting.
• The door has a Yale type lock and the height of the door knob is 82cm with the lock at 1.3m from the bottom of the door.


• From the porch there is a second door (2/3rds Glass) leading into the hall and the hall is carpeted. The second door is always open and has a knob and a lock but these are not in use. The knob is 82cm from the floor.
• The hall is 1.8m wide and after 5 metres the apartment entrance is via the first door on the right.


• Inside the door there is a 3.3m long hall to the left leading into the kitchenette, shower and toilet and the 3.4m long hall to the right leads to the bedroom and the lounge. These halls are 83cm and 1.3m wide respectively.
• There is one bedroom, a shower room and toilet all located on the ground floor although the latter is accessed through the kitchenette with 2 steps and this is in the rear elevation of the building. The shower room has a lock on the inside of the door and the toilet is in the same room.


• From the front door of the flat, the kitchenette is accessed through a door along the hall to the left with two steps being immediately 75cm beyond the door and the door being 71cm wide. Each step being 7cm deep. The long galley space varies from 2.2m wide down to 80cm at its narrowest point, with fridge and freezer being integral to the units on the right between the sink unit. The sink unit and work surfaces are 91 and 92 cm high.
• The oven is along the bottom end of the kitchen space with the washer being integral and to the right.

• As stated above these are in the same room and access is obtained via the kitchenette down two steps (each step being 7cm). The door to the shower, toilet area is 75cm wide.
• The floor area excluding the shower is covered with a decorative vinyl with the shower being contained in a glass screened area. The total area of the room is 3.2 m x 2.1m.
• Access to the shower area is narrower than normal at 57cm and the base is solid ceramic with a total shower area of 1.3m x 80cm.
BEDROOM The only bedroom is to the rear elevation of the apartment
• Again as stated above, from the flat entrance take the hall to the right and the bedroom is through the door to the left.
• The dimensions of the room are 3.7m x 4m and the door is 74cm wide opening inwards with the lever being 1m from the floor.
• The floor is carpeted in a contemporary grey buff.
• The bed is unusually high at 80cm.
• The room has a standalone wardrobe with double doors with height of 6’6”.

LOUNGE - to the front elevation of the property

• After entering the apartment the lounge is accessed along the same hall as the bedroom but is on the right of that. The door width is 83cm and the lever is 1m from the ground.
• The total space for this area is 4.5m x 4.7m excluding the bay widow space which is around 2.1m wide. There is a large corner sofa arrangement which is 50cm high.

The accommodation was as good as we expected really nice place! Sofa and Bed really Comfy would definitely return. Good location to walk into town or to the Beach.

The apartment was clean apart from the washing machine which was absolutely filthy and needs to be put on a boiling wash to get rid of all the mould inside the washing machine door and seal, couldn’t use it due to the mould. Parking was a nightmare is Whitby, not the fault of Sykes Cottages, I know. Grateful for the parking permits though. Bedding was lovely and clean, as were the towels. I know due to Covid restrictions the “usual” hamper was not available, but a one pint carton of milk, would have been helpful. If the guide could include where the nearest shops that sell bread and milk etc , apart from having to go into Whitby town itself, would be extremely helpful. The centre blinds in the front room didn’t work properly, too high to get up and fix. Everywhere else is set up ready for use and was clean. Good location for the town and beach.

Holiday was spot on as regards the description in your app but you need to make people aware of the parking situation and not just say there are scratchcards available . It was a nightmare for us. You either found somewhere and then never moved all week or spent hours looking,It spoilt things for us , made it very stressful! Otherwise fantastic apartment, exactly as shown, owners provde everything you need bar the food on the table haha

Whitby is lovely - here are some pros and cons about Church View Pros; - Great location, a minute or so from West Cliff and it's beautiful beach and stunning walk to Sands End. Conversely 10 minutes from the heart of town (although be warned it's climb back up!) Would also recommend a walk to Arch and Abbey Micropub if gin and/or beers are your thing! - Comfortable lounge, great big comfy sofa - Good technology; wifi worked great, the smart TV was perfect for cosy evenings at home with the doggy and we enjoyed Alexa - Free parking with the scratch card Cons; - The bed whilst comfy is definitely not a king size - The bathroom is large but doesn't have anywhere to put your clothes whilst changing - The toilet roll holder was very loose, and all the pictures that were hung around the flat are crooked(?!) - There wasn't many useful essentials in the flat - ie no oil to cook with/ shower gel etc. They said they hadn't left a welcome pack because of covid (although I'm not sure why as guests would use the items and then dispose?!) but they did have blankets and cushions, salt and pepper etc so felt very inconsistent. - I found a pair of disposable gloves in the hall as we entered the flat - No rubbish bins/recycling (some bins were locked away but no instructions!?) - There is plenty of parking but you might be some way away With all that said we did enjoy our stay and the location was so good it was easy to overlook the niggles!

Church View apartment was simply amazing. Spotlessly clean, very bright and airy. The goodie bag was fantastic. Had a slight problem with the key safe (our fault) but Yorkshire Coastal Cottages rectified it immediately, nothing was too much trouble. Absolutely loved it. Perfection from start to finish. The living room had Christmas decorations up which made it soooo cozy. Looking forward to booking again for 29th Dec. Thank you so much ❤️

My husband and I had a lovely week in 'Church View'. We felt very comfortable and at home in the property. It was obvious from the way everything was set up that the owners cared that their guests would have a lovely time when visiting. We found the whole flat extremely well-equipped. It was little things that we noticed that realyl made a big difference - like having enough loo roll to last a week, or having some spray cleaner under the sink (so that we could wipe up the inevitable mishaps). It was a pleasure to meet Pip, the housekeeper, just as we were leaving and she was very warm and friendly and pleased to be told about some blinds that weren't working. Two points of constructive criticism... The duvet on the bed was 13.5 tog and very hot(!!) I had quite poor sleep as a result and to have an optional alternative to such an extremely thick duvet would have been very welcome. (There is plenty of available storage in the Ottoman bed for such a thing.) Additionally, the windows were very dirty on the outside, which was a bit of a shame, considering how clean everything else was!

The property was extremely nice and as described. Whitby has a parking problem which we are well used to. There were no parking permits in the property when we arrived which was a bit frustrating as we had spotted some 'rare' spaces. This took a little while to sort out partly because Sykes is a large company and telephone calls go through to a central call centre which did not understand the problem. It was a small oversight but frustrating for us. We understand the local office was closed because of Covid but it is so much easier to deal with a small local company. Sykes has also taken over a West Country company that I used to use regularly and knew all their properties. I also find Sykes website a problem because it is so vast.

The apartment was warm and welcoming. The owners had left a nice booklet with clear instructions. The walk-in shower was excellent. Close proximity to both the town and the beach. We would definitely book again!
