“An adorable cottage .”

Clean and well equipped, but, SO cold. (January.) Electric oil radiators were provided and warmed upstairs beautifully, but downstairs it never really warmed up. I fed the solid fuel burner but that never got radiators or water hot. This meant the bathroom especially remained like a refrigerator.. But the cottage and the way it is kitted out is fabulous. Will hopefully be back, but only when its warmer!

“We had a good stay at Chestnut Cottage its location is brilliant for York, Driffield, Bridlington and the wider coast.”

We took our dogs and the dog bowls, dog treats and blankets was a lovely touch. The beds were very comfy and it’s in a quiet location. There was some cleanliness issues, the bathroom being downstairs could be an issue for some. There is cctv on the back of the house for security reasons but everytime you went out the back the phrase smile your on candid camera came to mind. There was a fire and coal and logs should have been provided as a starter pack but the buckets were empty bit disappointing we did mention this to owner. Summing up though we would return, Christina

“We couldn't leave a bite in the guest book as we didn't have a pen the property was well equipped and clean .”

We arrived after Saturday's immense rain and Sunday being one of the coldest days fir a long time someone kindly had switched the electric fire on we went to light the fire to warm the upstairs but there was nothing kindling or starter pack of fuel only barbecue brickets and very little if them so we did not bother the grass lawn was very long and we stood in some dog dirt crossing into the property. The grass has not been cut fir a while and the top of the fence panel broken. otherwise everything ok.

“Really lovely property, comfy bed, everything you could need in the kitchen equipment-wise.”

Most importantly for us, the back garden is properly enclosed, so you can let the dog out quickly in the middle of the night rather than having to worry about getting dressed and going for a walk.

“The toilet seat was partly detached when arrived but didn't really cause an issue.”

Light in second bedroom was flickering when used but we used the lamp all the time instead. Otherwise we couldn't fault the place. Really nice place to stay, beds were so comfy and all the facilities meant it was a home from home. Considering it was a cottage it was really spacious. Both sets of neighbours were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again

“Chestnut Cottage is absolutely delightful.”

Cosy and clean and in a very quiet and peaceful location. Easy to find a parking space very close to the property. Very, very comfortable beds and bedding. Chestnut Cottage is well equipped with everything you could possibly need. It has a lovely garden and seating area, perfect for an early morning cuppa, or something stronger in the evening. Can't recommend Chestnut Cottage highly enough, and can't wait to visit again.

“What a lovely place and the cottage was wonderful.”

A big issue to me is cleanliness and this was super a home from home.The garden was just right for us and Rosie our little dog,the weather was beautiful so we really enjoyed sitting out. We loved the cottage but in the description it didn’t say that the bathroom was on the ground floor at the end of the kitchen and the bedroom was upstairs at the other side of the house.This would have affected our choice but we managed and am so glad we did because we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.Would definitely recommend it . One little thing,a pint of milk would have been welcome as it was hot and a cuppa would have been good but there was no shop. But that apart,thank you

“Everything was fantastic the only thing was that we didn’t have any hot water in the tap it didn’t matter to us that much we were out most of the time and boiled the kettle for hot water.”

Everything else was great the cottage location was perfect for getting out and about and so comfortable will definitely consider coming back if out that way again. Thank you

“The cottage was lovely- the inside was very welcoming.”

There were lots of appliances and utensils- really handy, however, the only thing would be that a medium sized pan would be useful- there was a huge one and a small one but nothing in between. Having a dishwasher and washer was very handy. The bed was extremely comfortable. We couldn’t work the hot water at first- but we did manage to work it out. The provision of throws was very dog friendly- and the vacuum was strong enough to pick up all the dog hairs- we have a very hairy dog. The welcome gift was very much much appreciated- love the Yorkshire touch.
