“The accommodation had a well fitted kitchen with adequate equipment.”

I found the cottage to be dark and musty smelling, all my clothes that were hanging in the bedroom need washing, even though not worn. I was surprised there was no soap on the bathroom sink. There was no milk or anything when we arrived and no shop locally. Previous accommodation in North Dalton booked through Sykes has a welcome pack. The settee was extremely uncomfortable and there was a Pringles tin under the footstool in the living room. The front door was difficult to close and needed ...

Overall I was quite disappointed with the accommodation and will not be rebooking and I quite often book accommodation in East Riding.

“Lovely cottage, the photos are accurate.”

In a lovely village with a very nice local pub, location was great, half hour drive to the beach, 40 minutes to York. Beds where extremely comfortable. Only negatives are there is a bit of a smell when you first walk into the property and quite a few cobwebs

“Chestnut cottage is such a comfortable relaxing property, everything is there for a short break or holiday from iron to slow cooker.”

The double room is spacious and the bed very comfortable, there is a lovely seating area outside with beautiful lavender plants that fragrance the garden, we had a nice trip to the coast and Driffield has lots of lovely shops

“There was no hot water, the bed was broken and needs sorting out before any more visitors.”

It was a nice touch to provide pet feeding bowls. I had logs and some kindling provided. The electric heaters provided which I had to use heated the house up. The dishwasher was good as I had no hot water and there was an electric shower.

Hello thank you for your feedback, apologies you had no hot water. if you had contacted me as per guest manual I would of guided you on how to switch it on, if the instruction were not clear. I would like to know why cleanliness was only 50%, we have very high standards and inspections. We were disappointed to find your dog was brought upstairs, peed on the bed and never cleaned up, t The rules clearly state this and a claim has gone in with photos. The house is heated and advertised with a back burner, electric heaters for ease. Thank you for letting me know the end slat is broken on the bed, this will be replace. Property Owner

“A cosy cottage which is in a great location for exploring cities and the coast.”

It was very cold on arrival (winter visit) but soon warmed up with the log burner and the extra electric fires provided. Perfect little cottage for us as a couple and two pups. The garden was great and secure which was perfect for the dogs. Hot water was very hit and miss, however the shower is electric so not much of an issue overall. There were dog hairs/dust and could have done with more of a hoover when arrived but everywhere else clean. Lovely little touches with the dog blankets and treats. Boot room was great for when we returned from walks as the weather was cold and rainy when we stayed. Bed was comfortable and duvet very warm! It was great to have the games as an added touch and overall a great place to stay if looking for a cosy country retreat.

“An adorable cottage .”

Clean and well equipped, but, SO cold. (January.) Electric oil radiators were provided and warmed upstairs beautifully, but downstairs it never really warmed up. I fed the solid fuel burner but that never got radiators or water hot. This meant the bathroom especially remained like a refrigerator.. But the cottage and the way it is kitted out is fabulous. Will hopefully be back, but only when its warmer!

“We had a good stay at Chestnut Cottage its location is brilliant for York, Driffield, Bridlington and the wider coast.”

We took our dogs and the dog bowls, dog treats and blankets was a lovely touch. The beds were very comfy and it’s in a quiet location. There was some cleanliness issues, the bathroom being downstairs could be an issue for some. There is cctv on the back of the house for security reasons but everytime you went out the back the phrase smile your on candid camera came to mind. There was a fire and coal and logs should have been provided as a starter pack but the buckets were empty bit disappointing we did mention this to owner. Summing up though we would return, Christina

“We couldn't leave a bite in the guest book as we didn't have a pen the property was well equipped and clean .”

We arrived after Saturday's immense rain and Sunday being one of the coldest days fir a long time someone kindly had switched the electric fire on we went to light the fire to warm the upstairs but there was nothing kindling or starter pack of fuel only barbecue brickets and very little if them so we did not bother the grass lawn was very long and we stood in some dog dirt crossing into the property. The grass has not been cut fir a while and the top of the fence panel broken. otherwise everything ok.

“Really lovely property, comfy bed, everything you could need in the kitchen equipment-wise.”

Most importantly for us, the back garden is properly enclosed, so you can let the dog out quickly in the middle of the night rather than having to worry about getting dressed and going for a walk.

“The toilet seat was partly detached when arrived but didn't really cause an issue.”

Light in second bedroom was flickering when used but we used the lamp all the time instead. Otherwise we couldn't fault the place. Really nice place to stay, beds were so comfy and all the facilities meant it was a home from home. Considering it was a cottage it was really spacious. Both sets of neighbours were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again

“Chestnut Cottage is absolutely delightful.”

Cosy and clean and in a very quiet and peaceful location. Easy to find a parking space very close to the property. Very, very comfortable beds and bedding. Chestnut Cottage is well equipped with everything you could possibly need. It has a lovely garden and seating area, perfect for an early morning cuppa, or something stronger in the evening. Can't recommend Chestnut Cottage highly enough, and can't wait to visit again.

“What a lovely place and the cottage was wonderful.”

A big issue to me is cleanliness and this was super a home from home.The garden was just right for us and Rosie our little dog,the weather was beautiful so we really enjoyed sitting out. We loved the cottage but in the description it didn’t say that the bathroom was on the ground floor at the end of the kitchen and the bedroom was upstairs at the other side of the house.This would have affected our choice but we managed and am so glad we did because we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.Would definitely recommend it . One little thing,a pint of milk would have been welcome as it was hot and a cuppa would have been good but there was no shop. But that apart,thank you

“Everything was fantastic the only thing was that we didn’t have any hot water in the tap it didn’t matter to us that much we were out most of the time and boiled the kettle for hot water.”

“The cottage was lovely- the inside was very welcoming.”

There were lots of appliances and utensils- really handy, however, the only thing would be that a medium sized pan would be useful- there was a huge one and a small one but nothing in between. Having a dishwasher and washer was very handy. The bed was extremely comfortable. We couldn’t work the hot water at first- but we did manage to work it out. The provision of throws was very dog friendly- and the vacuum was strong enough to pick up all the dog hairs- we have a very hairy dog. The welcome gift was very much much appreciated- love the Yorkshire touch.
