Wonderful accommodation with plenty of space to spread out in the three separate lounge areas.

The bedrooms are all very spacious too. We spent some lovely time in the garden which was a little suntrap and shelter from the changeable weather. The owners provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay and their recommendations for wining and dining were excellent - we visited most of them!

What a fabulous property!

Congratulations on the layout, and the generosity of the furnishings, kitchen crockery etc. We had small children and a dog, but no problems with accessibility. The only negative is tiny things like a wobbly kitchen drawer, which the owners may not even know about. Absolutely wonderful, thank you so much

Absolutely fantastic house.

Soft furnishing and facilities were exceptional. Communication with the owners was great. Location couldn’t be beaten. Although parking was off site, the owners guide to parking made it perfectly accessible. We definitely will be retuning. Couldn’t be happier that we picked this property.

We loved our stay at Calliope house, really comfortable with good sized bedrooms, well equipped kitchen, lovely lounge the floor above and plenty of toilets too!

Was perfect for our group of 7. There was also a high chair, cot & toys for very young ones. Communication beforehand was also good. The location was perfect being so central, and you get parking permits to park on the road outside which was great, however over Easter weekend it was impossible to park anywhere in Whitby, but really easy after the bank holiday was over! Would definitely stay here again on a future Whitby visit.

I just spent the weekend in Calliope House in Whitby with my family, celebrating a special birthday.

The house is beautifully furnished throughout, equipped with everything you could possibly need. It’s got a lot of stairs which might not suit everyone but wasn’t an issue for us. The large room was perfect for us, and the other lounges were great if someone wanted a bit of peace and quiet, or watch to. We all loved it.

We had a lovely week at Calliope House, it felt like home as it was so comfortable and felt very safe.

It is very spacious and because it is on 4 floors we had privacy and definitely lots of exercise up and down the stairs! The house is very well equipped, though the kitchen would benefit from some soft lighting around the dining table . The bedrooms were very cosy, and nice quality bedding made the beds feel very comfortable. We were particularly impressed with the showers, very good flow and loads of hot water, even in the top floor bathroom. Overall, a lovely house, thank you!

Really loved staying here.

It felt like a home. Well equipped. Lots of space. Comfy beds and lots of places to sit and relax with the two lounges and the sofa in the dining room. The communication from the owner was excellent. The house is within short walking distance to the centre of Whitby. Thanks for letting us stay.

The extra front room was never used.

The television in there would have been much better in the kitchen, especially at breakfast time. A handrail should be placed at the top of the stairs leading down to the kitchen. Otherwise a very pleasant property.

Calliope house is a beautiful, bright, well equipped and spacious home, perfectly located to explore Whitby and the surrounding area.

Lovely old Georgian house full of light and space. Well stocked with everything one might need. We all loved it, especially little Rosie (aged 2) who couldn't get enough of all the stairs! And Whitby itself was a treat. Thank you Kath Hewson

The house itself is gorgeous, the location is ideal and only a short walk from the beach and all of the Whitby attractions. The facilities in the house were all so clean, and the owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and we’re already looking to book again.

This very spacious house has everything you could need. The beds are very comfortable and the location is perfect as it’s a short walk to the harbour. We’ll be back!

We had a great week here with our large family.

The house was better than we expected, super spacious and we spent every evening sitting out in the lovely garden with its view of two churches. We were also really impressed with the thought that has gone into everything from the towels, bedding and kitchen items. There were masses of mugs, glasses, plates, cutlery etc which made a big difference. Plus lots of pots etc to prepare food. The owners responded quickly when we had a query as well. Overall we loved our stay and would definitely recommend it to larger family groups.

Very well equipped and so comfortable. Parking 2 SUV’s was tight but once parked up we didn’t need to use them again until we were packing to come home. Bus terminal was 5 mins walk away

Communication was great from booking, all the info provided. Everything you could think would be needed for our stay was provided within the accommodation. We all enjoyed our stay and would return again.

The facilities are exactly as listed on the property details. The house is beautifully and tastefully decorated, with every consideration given to the comfort of guests. It's situation in the heart of Whitby is amazing, giving the option to feel secluded in the lovely garden in August. We were a multi-generational party with additional needs and this house met all of our needs and more. We are very grateful to the owners and their thoughtfulness and care - both pre, during and post stay. They really go the extra mile. We are already looking forward to our return.

We spent a week in Calliope House as a family with three children, traveling by public transport.

Whitby is a nice and busy place, but the spacious and cosy house and pleasant garden provide a quiet recluse. We loved our stay here and did some beautiful hiking along the Cleveland Way and in de Moors.

Our party of 6 adults and 2 children enjoyed our stay at Calliope House very much.

The beautiful, spacious house is very clean, well furnished and well maintained. Beds are very comfortable. The enclosed and private garden with table and chairs was a real bonus. Pannett Park, with a great children's play area, is just at the end of the street and the harbour front a 5 minute walk. Our whole party had a wonderful time and will definitely return

This is our second stay at the lovely Calliope House.

The house has everything you need for a stress-free stay. It is very clean, comfortable & cosy with plenty of space for guests to socialise together or have their own space. The location is perfect to access everything Whitby has to offer. All the information you could need is provided & the owners also make it easy to contact them if you have any queries. Whilst on street parking is always a challenge in Whitby, the provision of parking permits & suggestions for parking locations make it as easy as it could possibly be. We look forward to coming back again.

We stayed at Calliope House for my husband’s 50th birthday during half term and had a lovely few days with friends of ours and their son, and our daughter.

It’s a beautiful town house in a great location, within easy walking distance to everything Whitby has to offer. The bedrooms on the first floor, and the sitting room on the ground floor, were very comfortable and beautifully furnished. We chose the property in part because of the large kitchen: we’re all into good food, and cooking and knew we’d be eating in for the three nights we were there. Unfortunately our third and final night was marred through lack of appropriate pots for the induction hob. This wouldn’t have been so much of a problem if I hadn’t spent a fortune on lobster and crab from the local fishmongers for a special 50th birthday supper. There was a pan big enough to accommodate cooking pasta for six people, but unfortunately it, and the other smaller pan, didn’t work on the induction hob so I was unable to cook the pasta and meal I’d prepared. We’d been able to use the induction hob successfully with the frying pans provided but I’m shocked the kitchen was stocked with appliances that couldn’t be used on the hob. As this was our final night and we only realised the issue in the final throes of trying to prepare a birthday feast, it was pointless trying to contact the owners. It’s a real shame as it ruined the meal. Think lobster and crab linguine without the linguine. Our only other feedback would be to provide door stoppers. We came with our small and well behaved dog, who likes company at all times. Unfortunately the sitting room and snug doors appear to be old, heavy fire doors, which would always close fully. This meant we couldn’t leave the doors ajar, so inevitably the dog would bark if I was on my own and left the room for a few minutes. It’s also a shame that the house is missing a guest book. It would have been lovely to read others’ recommendations of where to visit, recommendations for local activities, fish and chips etc. All this said, we would probably re-book but next time I’d bring my own saucepan and door stopper!

Beautiful Calliope House exceeded our expectations.

We settled in very quickly and there was masses of space for our family of five. Everything works, the kitchen is very well equipped, the beds are all very comfortable and the bathrooms are good quality. Parking was straightforward. The house is so well-located in Whitby, we didn’t need the car for our short stay. Would have loved to spend more time in the very pretty garden. Highly recommended.

This is a comfortable house full of character and is conveniently situated to explore Whitby.

The lack of parking was a problem and even at the end of September it took some time to find parking spaces and they were some distance from the property. The house was well furnished and the kitchen provided everything we needed. The only item our party would have appreciated was a grab handle on the wall to assist the youngest and oldest of our party in and out of the large deep bath.

Parking was a little tricky but once we had managed to get a spot we didn’t need to use the car all week (as everything was in walking distance). Definitely recommend and would book again !

We had a great stay and excellent value for money this time of year. Parking you can't help but having a big car didn't park outside but in Royal Crescent which is a bit of a walk uphill! But probably did me good. Very clean when we arrived and all very tastefully done. Will come back when I've got a mobility scooter for the hills of Whitby. Thank you we loved the house.

Great location. Property is for 8 people, however not enough hot water for 8 showers. Would be better if there was a combi boiler.

Everything was perfect with lots of attention to detail and extra touches. We really loved the kitchen/dining area, it was so cosy (especially when the snow was falling) and the kitchen had everything you could think of, which is so often missing. We’ll definitely be booking again.

Calliope House proved to be perfect for our three generation family holiday.

Plenty of room for everyone to enjoy. The patio style garden is a real sun trap, and the summer house a lovely addition. The house was very clean with plenty of towels and bedding provided. We found the owner's information pack extremely useful, full of hints about Whitby. We had a great holiday in a great house. Thank you

We have just arrived home after a wonderful week away at the Calliope House in Whitby with all the family and well behaved dog.

the house sits very close to the harbour and all amenities and a short walk to the lovely beach and old town. This is a large house with four large bedrooms , plenty of bathrooms and separate toilets, the kitchen and large dinning area was great for all the family to enjoy a meal. Calliope house faces south and was always warm with plenty of hot water and easily managed through a nest heating control. the lounge and snug had large tv's and felt very comfy. A bonus was, we were able to park right outside the property , but does come with parking permits for free parking in other zoned areas, if i get the opportunity to stay again in Whitby, it will most definitely be in Calliope house, Well done it is a credit to the owners to be able to stay in this impeccable home.

A beautiful house.

Which had been restored beautifully. Extremely convenient for the town and shops. Keith was very helpful with a problem we had and it was sorted immediately. As a family we love to cook, so we found the oven not quite good enough. We would definitely return.

Great Location Good Facilities.

Parking can be an issue, but this is an issue within the whole of Whitby. Parking just needs a little bit of thought. Lovely House, perfect location to explore Whitby. There is no shower in the lower ground floor

An absolute gem of a property, perfect location and furnished to a high standard.

The house was extremely clean and truly felt like a home from home. The small enclosed garden was perfect too and although in October we didn’t get to use it much this would be fabulous in summer.

A return visit to Calliope House In spite of the current circumstances did not fail to provide excellent accommodation and facilities.

Only let down prior occupants had not sorted bins out and left grill in a bit of a mess.

However ended up not using so did not cause a problem. The house is great with spacious layout ended up working out expensive for us as couple of our party dropped out. Great to have the space. Parking was difficult but this is universal in Whitby. Garden area great. Location spot on. Comfortable roomy and well laid out with different view of Whitby. Owners very attentive.

Stayed here for 3 nights and I can honestly say it was the best house we have ever rented.

There were 8 of us: x4 adults & x4 children and the abundance of space over 4 floors was fantastic. We found the house in excellent condition, very clean, comfy beds, fresh linen & towels, huge kitchen/diner area with an additional 2 lounges and a beautiful outdoor area - lots of space for our large party of guests. The house is equipped to a very high standard. It's ideal situation is perfect for a stay in Whitby with the town centre and beach 5 - 10min walk away. Parking discs were kindly provided and covered our entire stay there. I/we would definitely seek to stay in Calliope when next visiting the area. I would highly recommend this property.

What a beautiful property in a fabulous location.

We had a fantastic time. There were two families and there was plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen/diner is very spacious and the two reception rooms are great for giving the kids and adults space away from each other. There is a really useful boot room off one of the reception rooms which is great for bikes, shoes etc. The bedrooms are very comfortable and relaxing. The children loved being self-contained on the top floor. But the real star of the show for us was the garden terrace which is a lot bigger than it looks in the photo and is such a lovely spot to sit in for a lazy breakfast and for sharing a drink and a meal in the evening. We were really lucky with the weather so spent both nights sitting there by the fig tree and scented jasmine - bliss! We would definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to friends and family.

Calliope House is very well equipped, warm and comfortable.

There are lots of stairs, some quite steep especially down to the kitchen. It was great having a washing machine/dryer. We enjoyed our stay. The house is very close to the railway station (we came by train) and close to the town center and harbour.

What a fantastic place!

We holidayed as two families and it met our needs perfectly. So much space over 4 very comfortable floors. Everything you can think of provided. Great location, we didn’t move our cars for 7 days. Whitby provided us fantastic food and activities for our whole week. A great way to spend New Year!

The locality was perfect and the house as a whole was stunning.

A couple of points , parking is very limited even with a parking pass it is difficult to find a space, I think this should be highlighted more, as once we had parked up we were not moving our cars in case we were unable to retain that space. Which we felt limited us from visiting neighbouring towns. We had a wonderful time! Also with such a wonderful kitchen maybe a TV wouldn't go a miss in here as this is where the 6 of us spent most of our time.

What an absolute delight it was to stay at Calliope House in Whitby.

Absolutely wonderful house in an ideal location.

A great deal of thought has gone into what is in the house to make your stay comfortable and entertaining.

Calliope House is situated within a few minutes walk of Whitby town centre which was ideal as we intended to use the Steam Railway and eat out in the evening.

The sitting area in the garden was an added bonus, perfect for relaxing with our friends and family members in the evening sunshine, who like us, thoroughly enjoyed their stay in this unique property,which we would highly recommend. A couple of concerns I would like to mention however,as the cleaner had not left out the required parking permits,I received a penalty charge notice,which I am having to challenge,and hope to have waived, the cleaner also did not leave out any dishwasher tablets.
