Esk Side Cottage

I will certainly recommend Esk side cottage to my friends and family it was 100% on everything from cleaning to every detail catered for attention to detail was very impressive bed very comfortable, the location is the best for Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hoods bay, Ruswarp Bay,etc ect.

we had fantastic time the cottage is so peaceful and relaxing we are already planning to go back next year, Don't pass this cottage by it is a little gem. The owners Nick & Helen were loverly checking everything was to our satisfaction plus left a Treat of Prosecco cake biscuits etc.which was a lovely gesture. Top marks.

A Lovely Home From Home ❤️ We’ve had such a wonderful week here and have made so many lovely family memories.

From the moment we arrived, the house felt welcoming and homely, and it has been the perfect base for all of our adventures around Whitby and the beautiful Yorkshire coast. We’ve packed so much into our holiday, and after long days exploring it was always lovely to come back, put our feet up and relax. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable family stay and we’ve genuinely been sad to see our holiday come to an end. The only small thing that wasn’t quite right for us personally was the super king zip-and-link bed, as we could feel the firm section where the beds joined in the middle. Bed comfort is such a personal preference though, and it certainly didn’t take away from how much we enjoyed our stay overall. We’re heading home with lots of happy memories and some fantastic experiences from our week away. Thank you for providing such a lovely place for our family to call home for the week. We’ve had a fabulous time and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a welcoming base to explore this gorgeous part of Yorkshire. ❤️

We had a fabulous stay at Esk Side Cottage.

Beautifully presented cottage which was absolutely spotless. Comfy beds and home comforts ensured we all slept well. It was very well equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen and even dog bowls and dog towels were available. The kids loved seeing the trains and the ducks which came to visit next doors garden, we even had a blackbird tap on the window one morning. Ate at the pub next door a few times too which provided fabulous home cooked food. A fabulous stay and a Cottage we will definitely return to.

We absolutely loved our stay at Esk Side cottage.

Having stayed in many cottages in and around Whitby (including another in Ruswarp) I can honestly say that this is the best for us and our greyhound Luke. It had so many positives it's hard to know where start. Location - Set in a beautiful little village near the local pub and railway station that frequently has steam trains passing. The cottage has a reserved parking space right outside the front door. The rear garden is fully enclosed and safe for dogs to explore. The walk into Whitby is flat and takes about 25 mins alongside the railway track. Accommodation - The bright and well proportioned cottage is modern and well equipped (including a fan which was very much needed in the heatwave we were having). We found the bedrooms comfortable with plenty of storage. Owners - Communication with Helen (owner) was very good and just wants you to have an amazing holiday. The welcome pack was one of the best we have had. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked our next visit. Thanks so much Helen and Nick.

. . What a fabulous place to stay. Beautifully presented and felt like home from home. Welcome package on arrival was second to none! and the hosts were both friendly and attentive to insure our stay was both exceptional and without problems. Situated in such a beautiful area to freely explore the surrounding walks and villages, with ease of accessibility to venture into Whitby by road or rural footpaths. Had a fabulous stay with great comfort and relaxation, we have already re-booked to return again next year! Highly recommend this beautiful and homely accommodation.

Lovely modern cottage in an ideal location real home from home.

Lovely walks to Whitby (about 45 mins mostly off lead ones which our dog Ollie loved!) and beyond using the Cinder Track to places like Hawsker and Robin Hoods Bay we never even moved the car and did over 50 miles walking in a week, visited some great pubs with great food. The local pub is accessible via the back garden gate is a stone throw away very friendly (our dog included!) with very good homemade pub grub! We will be back next year.

Really lovely home, fantatsically clean.

We visited for the Whitby Goth Weekend. Three adults. The bedrooms were cosy, with everything tou could think of covered in the house. Loved to little eco-friendly touches. Very convenient for the train line to Whitby, though at peak times we walked beside the track into and out of town (a good 35min hike to the Co-op). Kitchen was well equipped as we ate there twice as well as breakfasts . Totally would recommend it.

On arrival it was comfortable, clean, cared for and also felt special. The welcome pack was delightful and the owners were attentive but not intrusive. We honestly couldn’t ask for more and will definitely stay again! Thank you.

Spotless and pleasant decor. Very welcoming feel in general. Thoughtful welcome tray with local delights. Quiet setting with nice secure garden which was well maintained and with seating. Chairs and bed really comfortable. Couldn't fault anything. Warm and cosy. Well equipped kitchen. Dogs well provided for. Good selection of local places to visit in the general information basket, some were new to us which is always nice as we have come back to ruswarp yearly and always find something new. Highly recommend this lovely cottage.

Esk Side Cottage is the perfect base to explore this beautiful part of the country.

Absolutely everything is thought of and lots of really thoughtful touches are added including a wonderful welcome pack. We met Helen, the owner and she was so warm and friendly. The nearby pub has great food and is very welcoming. The butchers shop in the village is superb and a trip to Robin's Hood Bay is a must. Can't speak highly enough about the property, the owner and the area. Thank you, Helen.

Probably the best Cottage we have rented.

Everything was perfect from the first minute we walked through the door. There was even a lovely gift tray with biscuits, cake and prosecco. An ideal location with the Railway Station across the road. Also the Dog Friendly Bridge Inn at Ruswarp was directly behind the Cottage providing a good menu throughout the day and evening. The one downside was we only booked a 5 day stay. We will certainly looking at a longer trip to Esk Side Cottage in the future. There is so much to see and do around the area.

We had a lovely week at Esk side Cottage with our Son his partner and our grandson.

The cottage is situated in a very nice village close to a river, with a nice pub and excellent butchers very close. Whitby centre is literally 2 minutes away. the accommodation is nicely laid out, very comfortable and provided everything we needed for our stay. It was also good for our 2.5 year old grandson with gates protecting the kitchen and stairs. If you are looking for a base close to good beaches and the moors this is a great place to stay.

Quality white bed linen and fluffy towels set the tone.

Spotless, stylish and ultra comfortable. Extremely well equipped. Hosts are friendly, full of useful local knowledge and accessible. There are several interesting walks to Whitby, one on the flat. Bus stop for coastal routes is almost outside the door. Highly recommended.

Lovely clean property, stayed a couple of times now and definitely will be returning next year, perfect location for a small walk into whitby and was nice to see the steam train go past.

This is an expectional holiday let, after having stayed at numerous properties in the uk and abroad we were impressed with Esk side cottage and it’s stylish decor, excellent facilities and level of comfort.

Literally everything you may need has been provided, from the generous welcome basket right down to the toiletries in the bathroom. It’s ideally suited to explore the many places and attractions in the area. The local pub is just round the corner and they have the most delicious, reasonably priced, home made food, if you decide you don’t want to cater for yourself. We loved our stay there and hopefully we will be returning soon. (Even the minor issue with the tv was resolved speedily by the owner). All in all a 5 star experience. Many thanks.

We had great stay in Eskside Cottage.

Everything was just perfect and the wellcome pack was amazing,and we couldn't want for anything. We were met by Nick on arrival which was great also we met Helen a couple of days later. They both made us feel very welcome. Our little dog Sidney loved standig at the garden gate watching the world go by. The nearby bus stop with hourly journeys into Whitby was useful and the very nearby pub was good and we ate there twice. We also highly recommend the excellent local butcher. We will definately be returning to this wonderful accommodation. Thanks Nick and Helen.

The welcome pack was better than anything we’ve had before and so nice to have milk in the fridge.

Fabulous house, spotless and well laid out property with all you need for a great stay

A lovely home in a lovely location.

We have visited the area many times, and this really is an ideal spot. Local facilities are handy and has a real local feel. I know this is a holiday let but so many areas are 80% rentals and have lost the atmosphere of local people. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and supported local pubs and restaurants. Facilities in the property were excellent

Great to walk into Whitby by railway track. We travelled around a lot up & down the coast as so many lovely places to visit. Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes, Runswick Bay, Filey and lovely coffee & cake stop at Hunmanby Gap too. Don’t hesitate to book it’s lovely

We really enjoyed our stay here.

The owners have thought of everything and even personally welcomed us when we arrived. There’s a lovely pub close by and we bought bacon and sausage sandwiches from the local butcher. They were delicious. The weather was kind to us and we walked into Whitby 4 times along the side of the railway track. There’s a lovely back garden which attracts the ducks. I can recommend this holiday property. You won’t be disappointed.

Everything needed for a perfect holiday. Real 'Home from Home' kinda vibe! Awesome location, great pub almost on the doorstep, and Jacksons the butchers are defo the best (great recommendation from the owners! Thanks). We have just had a wonderful stay!

The cottage was perfect for our stay. The decoration is beautiful, the whole cottage is very well equipped to a high standard and the welcome tray is a lovely bonus. All the little extras helped make the week so much easier. With a very young family, the garden was perfect and the passing trains and visiting ducks provided lots of entertainment. The cottage is located brilliantly for easy exploring of the local area. The owners are very helpful and couldn’t have done any more. We will be returning again.

Gorgeous cottage in a quiet neighbourhood and well positioned.

Cottage was immaculate, modern and felt like home from home. The hosts had thought of everything (and we have stayed in lots of holiday lets over the years). Nick met us at the cottage to welcome us in and I had great communication with Helen too. We were made to feel very welcome at the Bridge Inn (literally 1 min walk away!) by Sarah - fabulous little pub with great home cooked food and dog friendly. Sandsend is lovely to visit (dog friendly beach) as well as pretty Whitby. Would recommend Wits End cafe for a bite to eat. Bonus that the cottage is so near the train station too. Lots of steam engine spotting and pretty walks by the viaduct. Thank you for a brilliant stay!

Lovely home and welcoming hosts.

Great little place with a pub next door and train track close by. Only thing missing was a squeege for the shower other than that pretty much perfect. Already recommended to some friends.

Excellent description, high standard, very friendly and helpful property owners, very friendly neighbourhood, quiet and relaxing place with plenty of attractions around, house was clean and Nick thought about ice cubes for drinks even- impressive.

This is a fantastic cottage in a lovely village and the welcome we received from the owners was above and beyond what had been expected.

The property is kitted out to a very high standard and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. It is in an ideal location for the local pub (lovely food) and also a steady 20-30 minute walk into Whitby. I very much look forward to visiting again in the future.
