    “A lovely little cottage.”

Clean, warm and comfortable. Fabulous location away from hustle and bustle of Whitby but still an easy walk to everything along the cinder path. We also walked to Robin Hoods Bay one day and caught the bus back. Dog friendly too and he enjoyed his holiday. Will definitely recommend to family and friends.

The property

This wonderfully appointed end-terrace cottage rests on the Captain Cook's Development on the River Esk, which meanders down to the harbour town of Whitby.

Engulfed by the stunning, heather-clad North York Moors, with walks from the doorstep and plenty of amenities to keep the whole family entertained, enjoy a quality break away-from-it-all.

This accommodation offers a lovely contemporary feel inside, with a living room boasting an open-plan layout.

Wrap around the electric fire on a chilly evening and unwind with a spot of TV and a hot drink warming your hands.

Then gather around the dining table for a tasty meal cooked up in the compact yet amply equipped kitchen next door.

Upstairs, the bedrooms are tastefully presented with ample storage space and a TV in the master double room.

Wake up to a refreshing shower each morning in the family bathroom.

Sit out on a sunny afternoon with your glass of wine and watch on as the kids play on the adventure park opposite, framed by the famous Esk Valley viaduct, which has 13 brick-built archways constructed to carry the Scarborough and Whitby Railway.

There is also a shared heated swimming pool on site for all the family to enjoy all year round.

The River Esk tidal beach is close by, where kids can paddle or enjoy kayaking.

On the other side of the river is the North York Moors Railway, with steam trains trundling along to Whitby or Pickering, experiencing 24 miles of picturesque Yorkshire scenery.

Alternatively, you can join a path and walk down the river to the harbour and famous 199 steps up to Whitby abbey.

There are some fantastic walks from the doorstep, including a 6-mile trail to Robin Hood's Bay, an old fishing village on the Heritage Coast.

The coastline then takes you all the way down to Scarborough with off-road walking, cycling trails and many more outdoor activities.

A coastal break with fun for all the family.
