The property

With stunning views over the coastline and the abbey, this duplex apartment is quietly tucked away in the centre of Whitby.

Set in a converted Victorian building, it provides the perfect bolthole for couples wanting to enjoy the many attractions in this popular seaside town.

There is a communal entrance with stairs leading up to the apartment, which is situated over the second and third floors.

With upside down accommodation, the cosy sitting room is at the top and features large Velux windows, taking in the spectacular views over the red roof tops to the sea and ancient abbey, a lovely place to relax in after a busy day out.

The bright and cheerful bedroom, along with a modern bathroom and compact kitchen are located on the floor below.

The kitchen also benefits from a large window, where you can sit at night and watch the twinkling lights of the town.

Ideally placed, all amenities are on the doorstep, with numerous restaurants, pubs, quaint tea rooms and wine bars to sample.

Explore the labyrinth of quirky narrow streets and ginnels, stroll down to the harbour and head over the famous swing bridge to the cobbled market place.

You can work up an appetite by climbing the 199 steps up to St. Mary's church and the abbey, or take an invigorating clifftop walk along the Cleveland Way, with breathtaking views along the dramatic coastline.

The long sandy beaches are a delight, lined with brightly painted beach huts, while the pretty gardens in Pannet Park, along with the art gallery, are well worth a visit.

The surrounding area has much on offer, whether it's a trip on the steam train exploring the North York Moors or discovering the pretty fishing villages of Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes, this superb little property is ideal for a romantic break, any time of the year.
