Lovely period property in the heart of Whitby, with private parking for one car, superbly located close to the charming Pannett Park and near restaurants, shops, bars and cafés, with the beach and harbour a short walk. This is a beautifully furnished and spacious cottage that sleeps 5, an ideal property for a wonderful holiday at the coast and the added advantage of a ground floor bedroom and bathroom.

Excellent property very well equipped (could do with a knife sharpener) it was nice to see you had put the Christmas decorations up! that was a nice touch

Plenty of parking outside the house. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Park your car immediately in front of charming period property, that has retained many original features, entering via the hallway into a delightful sitting room with views over the town towards the harbour; the room is spacious and has comfortable sofas, a Flat screen TV/DVD, WiFi, and a small library of books to enjoy whilst you are on holiday. There is a lovely dining area, a great spot to enjoy meals together, that comfortable sits five people.

Leading off of this area are double doors to a large kitchen, fitted with stylish contemporary units, and including electric oven and hob, integrated fridge, freezer, microwave and a dishwasher.

This ground floor also has a single bedroom, decorated in shades of yellow, plus a bathroom with a bath and shower over, WC and wash hand basin.

The staircase to the first floor divides to the left and right; to the left is a lovely double bedroom with views over to the harbour. Decorated in off-white with accents of pale greens and with its blind, wooden floors and fern-patterned fabrics, it has a colonial feel to it. The bedroom has a comfortable king size bed, bedside tables - with lamps if you like to read before lights out! - a wardrobe and easy chair. There is an en-suite shower room with a shower, WC and hand wash basin.

The staircase leading to the right has a charming twin bedroom in shades of lavender, again with long-reaching views over towards the town and harbour, in shades of lavender with two full size 3' single beds, a wardrobe, easy chair and original fireplace (decorative only).

To the outside is a small area with seating, ideal for that first morning cuppa, afternoon tea or maybe a glass of something chilled before dinner!

Mews Cottage is located off Whitby's prestigious St Hilda's Terrace, near the lovely Pannett Park.

Mr Brew
Lovely property and a short walk to all area Whitby had to offer. Parking was really easy and made our stay much simpler. All amenities you could possibly ask for including a tassimo coffee pods machine. Would definitely stay again.
Mr Rooney
5 pm check in too late - all previous check ins have been 2 or 3 pm. Disappointed that minimal/no basics provided e.g. coffee. tea, soap, shampoo.
Mr Hill
I think the 5pm arrival is far too late as most of the day has gone, especially when people have travelled for hours. Directions to the cottage are not very clear. Downstairs shower/shower screen needs looking at..causes water to spray onto the floor.
Mr Houghton
Great thats all I can say, as I said in their visitor book, maybe time for a larger upto date smart TV
Mr Baddeley
Beautiful property. Everything that you need for a stay in there. Very comfortable to chill after a day exploring the area. Beautiful views from the cottage. Was concerned about parking prior to arrival after seeing a few reviews saying there had been problems but on messaging Sykes got told there was a locked chain across entrance and was given code for this. Abit difficult to find on the street, directions given on email to property but could maybe benefit from a sign on the wall where the turning is. Would recommend and would return.
Miss Hollingsworth
Lovely property in a great location. One slight niggle was that someone was parked in the allocated space when we arrived and we had difficulty getting parked as a result. It seems the allocated space is actually shared, and there is technically room, but it would be good to know in advance that we'd be sharing the space, and also the person parking there could park more considerately. One suggested improvement is black out blinds or curtains in the bedrooms that get very light with the existing blinds. Aside from these points it's a lovely place to stay, and for once in a holiday home the mattresses on the beds were really comfortable.

Mrs Griffiths
Our second stay here and was really good. The cottage was comfortable and clean with great facilities. We would recommend and will likely return. Minor criticism about the old car parked up in the parking spot outside the cottage which never moved all week. I remember this car being at the property three years ago. We had to park in the space for cottage two and because it was jubilee week every cottage was booked and made the parking very tight. Thank you for a great stay!
Mr Gray
It was our second time at Mews Cottage and it was just as good as l remember. Spacious, full of character, well equipped, furnished to a high standard and spotlessly clean. Add to this, that is has parking and is superbly located, with a beautiful park on the doorstep and easy access to all the excellent facilities the wonderful town of Whitby has to offer - it’s about as good as it gets.
Mr Cooper
Great cottage with parking. Nice to have a dish washer.
Mr Llewellyn
Beautifully maintained property that was very clean and tidy. Furnishings and bathrooms of a high standard. Short walk to town centre. Would return again when staying in the area.
Mr Dawson
Lovely house at the top of the town. Views from the terrace are nice .easy to walk to the town. A few steep steps up to the house but you can bypass these by following the road. Clean warm with plenty of room.
Mrs Wilson
Great cottage and location Parking a real bonus in Whitby Would recommend and return
Mr Smith
Lovely house in a great location. Had everything we needed. I appreciate the difficulties covid has brought but feel check in time could be brought forward now.
Mrs Wood
We had a lovely week at Mews cottage it was ideally placed with a 5 minute walk into Whitby and the parking was a bonus. A dishwasher would have been a plus as most places do have one these days. On the negative side there was no mattress cover on the double bed and the waste outlet in the en-suite shower was very dirty with big clumps of hair trapped also the blind in the main bedroom was very dusty. On our last evening one of the bulbs blew in one of the wall lights in main bedroom and caused all the ceiling lights upstairs to trip unfortunately the trip box was a key pad for which we did not have a number otherwise we could have flipped the switch this is perhaps worth noting on what to do if this happens as we had no-one to contact. Overall the cottage is lovely and we enjoyed our stay.
Mrs Ward
Really well equipped cottage- especially in the kitchen Downstairs bathroom would benefit from an extractor fan - En-suite had to be cleaned by us before it was used as it obviously hadn’t been cleaned properly dusting in the living room could have been better & the cooker hood in the kitchen needed a clean.. Overall … This did not spoil the holiday & our stay in the cottage which is in a great position for town
Mrs Blank
The house is lovely in a prime location. Just a few issues; 1. It was not very clean when we arrived, upstairs was dusty, there was breakfast cereal in the rug under the dining table. 2. A local resident was regularly using one of our allocated parking places. Made for a very inconvenient arrival and an unpleasant conversation. 3. The velux window above the dining table leaks. A dishwasher would be very useful. I would happily use this accomadation again if I stay in Whitby.
Mrs Kublik
Lovely cottage met all our needs clean comfortable would stay there again.
Mrs Griffiths
Every thing was perfect
Mr Moore
Third time at Mews Cottage. Everything as expected and a great time had by all despite the regular calling cards left by the blasted seagulls on my car. We shall definitely return.
Mr Llewellyn
Mews Cottage was extremely comfortable, with everything needed for a really enjoyable holiday. We would definitely return.
Mrs Goodwin
In over 30 years of self catering this is one of the very best places we have stayed. The Sykes description was accurate - it is accommodation full of character, skilfully designed, well decorated and maintained, clean and spacious. It is also furnished to very good standard and well equipped. We felt very comfortable here. To cap it off, it was in a brilliant position, quiet, by a beautiful park but really close to the centre - with parking. Excellent.
Mr Cooper
Booked for our third year already. Just wish we could deal with a human being rather than a website.
Mrs Pollock
Echoing the comments of previous occupants; the car parking situation caused stress and marred the stay. Access to the outdoor seating area and parking space was obscured by a neighbour's car. A resident, who permanently lives at the site, states the owner of Mews Cottage allows her friend to park there. Parking apparently causes a massive headache for residents. Phone calls to Sykes proved useless and the situation was only improved by us placing a note on the neighbour's car and speaking to them. This is not how we want to spend our time on holiday! Zero out of ten to Sykes for customer service. We believe these comments meet the review policy. Please note we did not have a contact number for the owner. The only number provided was for Yorkshire Country Cottages.
Mrs Wild
Not a very personal service as difficult to get hold of anyone when you had questions. Cottages very expensive and descriptions talk more about colour of furnishings than the practical stuff you need such as if bedding is included.
